gregorybs, your problem matches my problem. It doesn't seem real common, but I think one or two others have had the same failure. Lots of the other posts describe different issues.
I also mentioned it to a dealer, but the failure in very intermittent for me. It was working while at the dealer, so they didn't do anything.
I have a Nokia 6682. It pairs with the TCH just fine, but I had to enter numbers into the car one at a time rather than transferring them from the phone's address book. When using the bluetooth connection, I can hear people perfectly, but they often report that my voice is "cutting out." I have been to warranty service 4 times at 2 dealerships with this problem. They have replaced the car's microphone, but that didn't solve the problem. I would be curious to know if you are experiencing similar issues.
Thanks for your reply. I have also found several others with the same problem. Mine is so frequent that I have abandoned trying to use the bluetooth connection.
What is your call volume set to? If you have raised it too much, the system will be overwhelmed and cut out your voice as it tries to prevent echo/feedback back to the other side. Use the volume up/down on your steering wheel while talking until you find a level in which the other side can consistently hear you okay.
it pairs up with the phone and i can dial the number but 30 seconds into the conversation it goes right back to cd player. i just got a new phone. it is a samsung sc500. previously i had a motorola razr and it worked great. i presently am with alltel. i also have a phone with my mother which is verizon and it is also a samsung. i can still talk on the verizon samsung like normal. it won't disconnect. but the samsung through alltel disconnets. any ideas for me? i have both phones paired up correctly and select the right phone when i am trying to use that particular phone. help?? i have 12 days left to decide whether to get another motorola razr instead. i am not going to have this beautiful new car with this fabulous technology and not be able to use it like i want to. ladybugbaby
I have a treo 700p. I go through the process of pairing, using the code given by the camry....my 700p indicates that pairing has occured, but the camry doesnt. Should the camry screen show that the bluetooth is active (seems so in the car handbook). If so, mine doesnt. How does one get that activated? Any help appreciated.
By the way, I dont think this is a treo problem. It pairs/functions fine with my bluetooth gps.
The Camry is waiting for the Treo to complete the pairing by initiating the Bluetooth connection to the car. This is not done automatically by the Treo. While you are still in the Bluetooth devices screen on the Treo with the Camry Handsfree highlighted, press the Menu button on the keyboard (lower right corner). This will give you a drop-down on the Treo screen's upper left corner that says "Connect". Select "Connect" and you should be all set. From now on, your Camry should automatically connect to the Treo each time you enter the vehicle.
Thanks for the response....for some reason that doesnt solve it though. I have done as you suggested. The pull-down choice is to disconnect, rather than to connect. From all indications that I see, the Treo sees itself as connected....it is the Camry Hands Free that continues to search for the treo until it finally times out.
The Camry manual indicates that there should be some visual indication of 'bluetooth' in the visual display. There is nothing on mine that I can see. While the Hands Free system goes through the process of naming/confirming the name and giving a code for the device, there is no evidence that 'bluetooth' itself is functioning in the Camry. The handbook gives on the impression that that system can be initialized somehow....but the instructions are criptic enough that I dont understand the process. Ideas?
I suggest you see your salesperson at the dealership. I assume you got the "white glove" delivery run through, and at this time your salesperson should have shown you how to set up the bluetooth, and set it up for you if you had the phone with you. Stop by...bring your phone...have him/her do it and find out what you are doing wrong at the same time.JMHO.
i just bought a 2008 camry xle and tried to register my treo700wx with no luck. i get as far as entering the passkey into the treo after the "hands free" is recognized, but once i try accepting the passkey, the camry tells me the registration failed...
I suggest you go to the dealer and have them do it for you. If you had the phone with you when the car was delivered, the salesman/woman should have done it for you. He did mine in aboue 1 minute, Good luck.
I have gone through the process on my 2007 Camry to "pair phone". It works and I can talk fine.
However, the car does not remember being paired, from day to day. If I go into the car tomorrow, it will not be paired and I will have to pair it all over again. It does work, if I do so again, but I figured I would have to pair once, then it would just be paired every time I get into the car.
If I get into the car the next day and attempt to dial by name, it responds, "Not Linked".
Has anyone been able to set up the bluetooth to just say "call mom" while driving w navigation? Some have said that in other posts but others say you have to go through "dial by name"...etc. I've set up the nametags but saying them just takes me again to a menu where i have to confirm the name...basically its not the 6 sec command that i was hoping for.
I have the same problem. My car is 08 Camry SE V6 with JBL 6-disc (no navi system). I am using Motorola V3C. I can pair the phone and talk, but the next day when I start the car, and I cannot see the bluetooth symble on the JBL screen. My cell phone is on 24 hrs a day.
Should the bluetooth automatically pair each time when I turn on the JBL system? How can I fix the problem.
Problem solved. Set my cell phone bluetooth / handset on all the time. Now each time when I enter the car and turn on the JBL, the blurtooth sign shows up and show the signal strength. It is working great now.
You must check toyota.letstalk.com to check if your bluetooth phone is compatable. Then go to toyota.com and type in bluethooth in the search section and they will give you a play by play on how to work every aspect of your system.
My iphone won't "send" contacts to the car's address book (at least, not that i know of). I tried taking my mac laptop out to the car and sending a contact to the Camry via bluetooth. The macbook recognized the Camry as a bluetooth device called "HANDSFREE" but couldn't verify (or maybe it was authorize?). Either way, i couldn't send the contact.
Anyone have any suggestions how to get my macbook or iphone contacts into my camry via bluetooth?
Dan if you have not found the fix you will have to set your phone to link it is most likely not the car but your phone defaults back. I had the same problem. I have to tell the phone to see blue tooth every time.
My Bluetooth has lost its mind. I say call Jim S. and it says add entery . I say go back it says something else like dialing but dialing the wrong number. It is always diffrent. I can say your mom wears combat boots and it says dialing your sister. I finally cancel and drive around ilegal since in New Mexico its a no cell while driving. I have tried to format the system and start over with no luck. Has anyone found this problem and a fix or how to format?
Two questions #1 when I dial using my RAZR, the radio goes dead, and the phone shows connected, nothing happens, the I get a call back, you called me??? Happens all the time. #2: I say call Paul, and it come back as call home? Or call Mike's cell? What the hell is the matter with this system?? Frustrating, when it doials by voice comand it does work sometimes. Thanks
My 2007 Camry XLE bluetooth is driving me nuts. I call people and they keep saying they can't hear me. When they do, they complain about an echo sound. I have full sugnal when this happens so it shouldn't be caused by a week signal. Are there any solutions? Is it defective or is this normal?
Is the call volume very high? This could cause the microphone to mute as it tries to compensate for the noise, resulting in the behavior you are describing. I'd also borrow somebody else's (different model) phone and doublecheck that it's not an issue with your phone.
I haven't yet. I'm taking it in to the dealer and having htem look at it soon. My problem with that is that it takes time w/o a car to have them thouroughly check it out.
Team Camry Need some advice.....Is there a way to turn down the ringer volume for incoming calls? My wife has sensitive ears and it's just to dang loud for her. This is not referenced in the manual and I didn't see anything in a post search. Thanks in advance
Boy, activity in this thread seems to have dwindled. I wonder if bluetooth guy ever checks in anymore.
At any rate, my wife and I are switching from Sprint to AT&T in the next few days. We would like to purchase two Bluetooth phones that have some of the latest bells and whistles, but more importantly, are highly compatible with our 2007 Camry.
Can anyone offer some suggestions or share their personal experiences? It would be most appreciated.
Okay, I admit I am really dumb when it comes to Technology, but here is my question. I finally got my phone to pair with my Camry. Do I have to have numbers in my cellphone by name in order for the Bluetooth system in the car to recognize them? When i am setting up the Bluetooth in the car I try and say call by number and it won't do it. I appreciate any help you can give me. Does the Bluetooth system in the car look for numbers added in my cellphone?
Hi all...A toyata and treo addict here...anyone have this phone and could you sync it with your camry? Just wondering before I splurge on the phone component for my car. Thanks, Alyx
My wife and I are looking to upgrade our Sprint phones. We have a 2007 Camry XLE with Navigation. We are very interested in the relatively new Samsung Instinct, but letstalk.toyota.com doesn't mention anything about this phone's Bluetooth capabilities for the Camry.
I'm hoping the site just hasn't been updated. Has anyone tried using the Samsung Instinct with their 2007-2009 Camry models? I'd sure appreciate any info you can provide.
Did you ever get your problem straightened out? If so, how? I have another problem. My Iphone 3G pairs easily with the Camry bluetooth system but I hear any echo of everything I say. Folks I call say i frequently "break up." Neither of these occurred with my Treo 680, which worked flawlessly in the same car. Do you or anyone else have any ideas what I can do to fix this?
I am having the exact same problem. I have an iPhone 3G and the Toyota Camry Hybrid ('07). Folks tell me I'm breaking up and they hear every other word using bluetooth in the car. I've used 5 (5!) other mobile phones and no problem. Anyone have any suggestions?
Switching to the Verizon Network looking for a phone that people won't complain about like they do, "sounds distorted", with my Sony Ericsson Cingular AT&T phone. I use my cell for calls and a text message from time to time.
09 version Camry (no nav) with trio 700P, same problem. Hours on phone with Palm tech support confirms that the two "bluetooths" are not compatable. They acknowledge the problem has been known for a year and will not comment on whether there will be a software update or if anyone is even working on a fix. I'm back to an earbud bluetooth connect, While we think we are in the savy Tech age, we are still in the wild, wild west. With no international standards, we the consumer are promised the world, then left to fend on our own. Funny thing is, I have an 08 Solary with NAv, and the Palm site says it is not supported but it works just fine. Go figure!
Good News, I got it to work. Somewhere here (thank you) it said when waiting for the car to acknowledge the passcode, find the connect from the cell phone menu. I did, it worked and the Palm Treo 700P is now paired. Amazing how Palm doesn't know their product. I still cannot get the cell phone to transfer numbers from it to the phone but at least I can speed dial from the dash or cell phone and use blue tooth. Now does anybody know how to program a pause or wait from the manual input?
I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid (with the navigation system) that I've used with my bluetooth LG (8300 I think) phone for almost two years. I just "upgraded" to the LG Dare and it won't sync. When the phone goes to discover the car it comes up with Unknown Device instead of "Hands Free." Digging into the phone I see that it actually has the hardware address of the car... but it just won't finish the sync operation. Verizon blames Toyota. Toyota says the car blue tooth is working fine and it is compatible with the LG Dare so it must be the phone. :-( I love the phone but I really (really) love the blue tooth car capabilities. Can anybody help?
I have the lg 8300, my 3rd replacement, and this one doesn't keep the bluetooth sync. When a call comes, in the bluetooth transfers back to the phone (without my doing anything) but then I can't get the phone to accept the call. I also cannot make any calls while the bluetooth is connected. I really don't want to go to verizon for a 4th replacement. I have the 2007 camry without nav. Any ideas? Hope this forum is still monitored...
When I first got my 07 Camry, the bluetooth worked famously with my lg chocolate flip. Then over the course of 6 months it slowly started to not work reliably. Its reliability just deteriorated to a point that it was unbearable and UNACCEPTABLE.
I went to my Toyota dealer and they told me it was my phone or verizon. I told them I was using the same phone. They pretty much told me that as long as it kinda works...they wont fix it. Im like...if my steering wheel kinda works from time to time your NOT going to fix it? No of course not. To me its a load of crap, and Im still waiting to hear from toyota.
So Lets cut to last July when I got my Iphone and moved to AT@T, then of course I still got crappy bluetooth suck from my camry unit but now I got the iphone echo. which isnt their issue. So i took the car back in and demanding some kind of correction. And actually sympathized this time but had to stand their ground. They gave me the number to Toyota dirctly...which on account of the holidays and sheer frustration havent been brave enough to battle that next windmill.
I believe that this practice to refuse to fix it even with a bumper to bumper warranty its just ridiculous.
Im so glad I found this forum...now I am motivated again to get this rectified. Will let you all know something as soon as I do.
Hey all, I think we all can agree that getting bluetooth to work well is a crap shoot at best. imho, if u are considering buying a camry, skip the bluetooth option and then have it installed aftermarket. My local shop could have provided SUPPORTED bluetooth with display, gps, and on-star-esque service for half the price I paid for factory installed bluetooth.
The compatibility chart is nice but it isn't even half the story. For those of us who are stuck w factory installed bluetooth, who can recommend a good phone? (a reliable unit that connects easily, where listener and caller sound very good,) Cell provider and model please & thank you.
Add me to the list of frustrated users with the Toyota Bluetooth system. I currently have a Blackberry Storm 9530 on the Verizon network. Echoes...check, 'you sound so far away'...check...the callers break up on me (although my signal strength is excellent)...check. Just frustrating.
Prior to this I had a Blackberry 8820 with T-Mobile which wasn't perfect but I could carry on a fluid conversation without any drama. The only problem with the T-Mobile unit is that it wouldn't transfer the address book...but neither does my Storm
Overall the Verizon gives me much better service which is why I dropped tmobile, but it would be nice to use a feature you have paid for in a car and not have to find an alternative.
My alternative is a jawbone bluetooth ear unit. Clear conversation (even with all the windows down and sunroof open) and good battery life. Downside is it' not the most comfortable thing but I've gotten used to it.
I had a LG something for the past 2 years with no problems with my bluetooth on my 2007 Camry with nav. Now I have a enV3 (Verizon) and after an hour of following the crappy instructions in both manuals, I cannot get the phone to pair with the car. How do I get the car to "discover" the phone? How do I change the address from my old phone to the new one? I don't remember it being this difficult the first time? HELP!
Actually, this is a new question since you seem to know a lot about this crappy bluetooth system. I have Verizon enV3 and I absolutely can't pair it...I've tried every menu I can find...and the manuals are not helpful in the least. I can't find the discovery mode in my car and sometimes the new device is detected but the connection still fails. I don't have a lot of faith in the dealership, they don't even know how to help me with the navigation system. It seems like the owners manual is written for a different car!
If your LG is connected to the car it won't pair up with your new phone. Go to your bluetooth options in your old phone and disconnect Handsfree. Now try to connect your new phone and it should go OK.
There is a way to delete the device from the Toyota but I don't know the process off the top of my head. If you don't plan to use the old phone anymore you should check the manual to delete it.
I have a 2007 Camry Hybrid and finally hooked up my Sony Ericsson Z750a to the bluetooth technology in the vehicle. My carrier is AT&T if that makes any difference. Anyway, my problem is that, although I can hear the person I'm talking to just fine using the hands-free bluetooth, the person gets a painful jolt of noise every 10-15 seconds that makes it sound like I'm in a war zone. Any thoughts on how to solve this problem? Thank you
I have had my 07 Camry SE since July of 06 and I am still enjoying my bluetooth. I have had no problems with my system at all. The only thing that I have encountered is when I am outside cleaning my car, the bluetooth will pick up even though my phone is in the house. I have a sprint katana phone and I have had NO PROBLEMS.
The way I was told to enter extra digits into the Toyota Camry phone book was to have them programmed in the phone, then transfer that specific contact into the car phonebook using the automatic upload capability. I could not get it to work, but good lunch to you.

I also mentioned it to a dealer, but the failure in very intermittent for me. It was working while at the dealer, so they didn't do anything.

Should the bluetooth automatically pair each time when I turn on the JBL system? How can I fix the problem.
My iphone won't "send" contacts to the car's address book (at least, not that i know of). I tried taking my mac laptop out to the car and sending a contact to the Camry via bluetooth.
