That was the first year for it as well as the navy blue color. (I forget it's name.) I think the color you are talking about is the same gold color that I love. It is my favorite on the QX4 but my wife wanted the Ruby, silver or black. Silver is so bland and everone has that color these days on every car. The black is so hard to keep clean but it is beautiful. You should be able to pay about $6K less than I had to since they have stopped production. Look for a price at about $30K + or minus depending on the options you get on it.

I still have 02 brochure that says "Golden Sand", and 03 is called the same. 01 has "Stone Beige" that could be the same only if its color code is the same as Golden Sand.

I have a USA version of the 2003 QX4, and I want to put daytime running lights on it using the high beams without affecting the functionality of the HID or automatic headlight control.

Has anyone been able to do this? Thanks for any ideas.

I've just bought a 2002 QX 4 which was a Demo with 5000 miles on it. I still get the whole new car warranty. I paid $31,500 for it and just love it but wanted to know if I was taken. I looked up the price but since it was basically new even though it was a 2002 it seemed like a good deal. It has the the towing package on it and everything else except the Nav system. Anyway, I would appreciate some feed back thanks.

I cant say whether you were taken or not but I can tell you what kind of price my dealer is qouting me for an '03 QX4 4WD silver/black with heated seats package, $32,755. That is $6,000 off MSRP. I am still bargaining(I offered him 31k) but I dont think he'll come down any further.

mike3720 just got a 2003 for $30,655. I don't know what options either one of you got so I don't know if they are exactly comparable. Did you really want to know that you paid $900 more than you could have bought a 2003 with no miles? Then again, maybe you got more options than he did. With yours another year older and having 5000 miles on it, I would say that you paid about $3-5K more than I would have.

I paid $30,655 for my 2003 QX4, 2 wheel drive, the the power moon roof and rear window wind deflector. no towing package. It list for $36,455.00 with a $6,000 discount. The dealer added a docking fee at the end. I have the window sticker and would be glad to answer any questions you might have. My wife didn't want the 4 wheel drive, i think she thought i might try to use it. And we checked the MPG and we were ok with our numbers 18.3 combined driving. We're planning a trip to the Alabama Gulf Coast and we'll check it again. It's a GREAT ride!!!

$4450 under INVOICE (any model - options) should be the consumer's target price for the 03 QX4. Plus 0.9% financing is available WAC up to 36 months : 3.9% up to 60 months.

I just checked the carsdirect.com in 95014 area where I live (South Bay/San Jose). 4WD with heated seats, trunk mat, sunroof deflector and rear wind deflector is $30342. Almost exactly a year ago I got my 02 4WD with no heated seat, and it was $33500 plus tax, doc...

I paid $35,700 in July of 2000 for my 2001...I guess I should have waited too...But then I'd have missed driving to mountains in California, thru snow, on some sandy beaches in Hawaii...Etc...Cars will most always be cheaper later...Except for my 1965 Corvette that was $5000 new...Now $30,000...

Hi, I found a QX4 at Carmax. Its an 03 QX4 4WD with 8500 miles. The price is 29k. Do you people think its a good deal? I haven't seen the car yet, but heard from many people that Carmax sells only the cars in top shape. The only problem is the interior is tan...I always wanted to get one with black interior. I know it depends on the personal taste but any thoughts on the silver, tan combination? The price seems too good to pass. Please post your thoughts.

It depends on how many options are on it. It would need to at least have the premium package. If it has more like a DVD, heated seats, rear wind deflector, sunroof sun deflector or bug guard, then I would jump all over it. I do, however, also like the black interior better. That's what I got last year because I didn't want the kids to trash it up to bad. You don't notice as much in this black interior as in a light color.

has become standard on 03 QX4. Silver/tan is my 02 QX4 color. I always choose lighter interior color because in summer it doesn't absort as much heat as the darker color does. For look only, I like both black and tan.

Have you priced a new one with the black interior you want? They are now only a few grand more than the Carmax.. Unless you are really laid back, do you want to pay all that money and the vehicle not be exactly what you want?

I just bought a new 4*4 Silver QX4 with the Heated Seats and Sunroof package for 31,300.
It drives great. The dealer was ready to give me a 2002 model for 31,000 but I opted for a 2003 by paying 300 bucks more. I think its worth it even though there is no difference in the two models.

I just purchased a 2003 QX4 with Sunroof for $27,500. The car had 10,000 miles on it, and is 7 months old. I originally planned to purchase a MDX, but price independent the QX4 has a better interior.

I think that I can get the same car new for around 30K, but I figured for close to 3K the used car may be a better deal.

The QX4 is a great vehicle! Thoughts?

The RPMs of my 97 QX4 (107000 miles) have been bouncing when I take my foot off the gas. This only happens occasionally, but almost always when the engine is still cold and I am coasting down hill. The RPMs drop and sort of bounce up and down from like 3000 to 1000 for a couple seconds and then return to normal. Does anyone know what this could be? I cleaned my throttle recently, but that didn't change anything with this problem. It idles sort of high when I first start (1200 rpm), but after that the idle is usually perfect and smooth.

The black interior shows the dust much more easily. I wish I had the tan interior. If you have kids in the car, you might want to go with black since the tan will easily show the messy fingerprints, etc.

Does anyone have any experience with using high-mileage oil in their vehicle? When I get my oil changed, they are always pushing this but I don't know if it's really worth the extra money. My QX4 has 107,000 miles, but it doesn't leak any oil or burn any oil. All the websites I find that recommend using this oil are from the oil companies, so I think their opinions are a little biased. Any suggestions, is it really worth it?

You can buy a new one for just over $4,000 more. Unless you're paying cash for the used one, you can probably get a better interest rate on the new one. I bought a new 2003 QX4, leather, sun roof, a very nice ride for just over $30,000.

I too have noticed the "sticky" gas pedal on my 2001 QX4 and how it will sometimes surge when pressed. My husband, when riding with me, has commented about my "lead foot", when in fact it is not me.

I had an unfortunate incident yesterday and was wondering if anyone has had issues with the sticky pedal. I was parking in a commercial lot, making a u-turn off of the main road into the parking space, and when I pressed the gas pedal to pull into the space the next thing I knew I was up over the curb and into the bushes! It happened so fast I was wondering what happened and then realized that the car obviously surged. I don't have the damage estimate yet, but if they have to replace the front bumper (rather than repair it) I would imagine close to $1000.

I am grateful that it did not happen with another vehicle, a person, or a brick wall in front of me!

Has anyone else noticed this problem?

It's relatively common in Quests, but cleaning the throttle body fixes it. For more, try a Discussion Search for "throttle" in Nissan Quest/Mercury Villager problems. Your symptoms sound similar.

Oil & Gas..........I have a 2002 QX 4 and I put synthetic oil in it. Wanted to know if this was better or just a waste of money. Also, with the fuel, I put 85 octane in it but someone told me I should put super unleaded (91 octane). Any opinions to help out here. Thanks

It is only beneficial if you are using extended drain intervals (7-10K miles). At that point you save money over dino. On the gas, this is a high performance engine and requires >= 91 octane. The manual calls for it. Your performance can suffer or you can get knocking at lower octanes. Long term it could lead to deposits in the engine that it can't take.

I don't know why someone would spend $30K on a car and won't spend an extra $200/yr on premium gas that the manual calls for. It just doesn't make sense. Is this dealer rep gonna pay for repairs if it were to come to that? No, it would be out of your pocket if it caused a problem. His word means nothing against the written manual.

Notice I said in #1728 that we TRIED all three grades. It was a test. I stick with premium also. Interestingly enough, the sales person also has a QX4 and runs mid-grade in hers.

Wouldn't it be interesting to tear down the sales lady's engine and mine after five years and see if there was any evidence of damage? (Oil changes and everything else being equal, of course). I intend to stay with premium, which is 93 octane in this area (Dallas/Ft. Worth).

I use 87 more often than 91 on 00 RX300, 02 QX4 and previous 96 Maxima. Absolutely no difference could be found. Maybe with a professional meter I can ?

Was told that all grade has cleaning detergent therefore with lower grade gas won't have deposit in the engine either. Per many experts, "...octane grade is just an index of when engine starts pinging. As long as no pinging, and anything higher than that is a complete waste..."

I run 93 octane in my Pathy all the time.Engine runs smooth and quiet so Thats whaI put in there.For a 30K+ vehicle it is worth the investment.If I was leasing I would probably put regular in it unless I planned on keeping it after the lease. BTW, the Dealer will tell you it will run fine on regular because vehicles requiring premium fuel may be a turn off for some buyers.

I have a 01 Qx4 which has the newer 3.5L engine, the same as in the Nissan Maxima. I had rented a 03 Maxima on a recent trip and noticed that the owners manual doesn't state that it requires premium gas. It's curious that Nissan doesn't recommend premium for the Maxima but does recommend premium for the Qx4 which has the same engine. Maybe it's a psychological thing that makes people think they have a more luxurious / higher performing car if they have to put premium in it?

Any thoughts?

QX4 says he asked a visiting Nissan HQ representative point blank if it made any difference what grade of gas was used. His answer was, "Absolutely none. It's easier to specify premium for all the Infinitis so that we don't have to edit the manuals for each model."
An eye opener, huh? (If the story is true.)

Your QX4 will run on the lower octane gas...The computer senses the lower grade and detunes the engine so it will run on it...But...You will not have the same power...Maybe more power comes in handy for passing, or merging on a freeway...Things that mean a lot to me..."Margin of Safety"...

Since 2003 is the last year for the QX4, i would think any Infiniti dealer will give you a GREAT deal. When i bought my QX4 there was a $6000 discount and 3.9% fin. and that was a couple a months ago. The dealers are really pushing the QX4 to make room for it's replacement.

We have 6,000 miles on ours and already have received one dimple on the driver's side. I wish I could place rolled barbed wire around the thing each time we park it. Anyway, I'm not going to let a door ding stop me from enjoying it.

My 94 Altima received a notice from Nissan for a free air bag module replacement (to be a de-powered air bag). It reminds me of my 02 QX4. Anyone knows that the 02 QX4 has de-powered air bag or not?

I assume that when you say "de-powered" airbags, you mean the second-generation airbags. If so, the '02 QX4/PF has them. Just look at the VIN tag at the bottom of the windshield. It should say something to the effect of SRS II.

Thanks goose1207, it's there on the VIN tag that I never paid attention to.

A litle further, is it the type od airbag whose deploying rate depends on how severe the collision is? I read that some has that feature.
