WHich TSB did you use? My 2007 civic is not in the range of 06-059, at least as of Dec 2006.
THanks,
Adrian
Check message #45. Someone has a 2007 and they wouldn't fix it on the 06-059 TSB since it only applied to 2006 models.
Hopefully, they will now order the parts so I won't have to make 2 trips. Wish me luck!!!

Happy for that but I live about 30 miles away round trip & I tried to avoid a 2nd trip down there by faxing & setting the appointment over 2 weeks ago. Just shows that eventhough you can do all that's required...and then some, they still make it hard on ya. At least it will get done.

I already printed out the TSB for the motor mount and the lug bug and will see how it goes at the new service department.
Honda Corporate Car is involved at this point, and the Lady in charge of my case knows the service manager personally where I am going.
I am going to give them both TSB and tell them I had to do my own research since the first place failed to correct the problems I am having.
Will update you after I drop the car off and find out what they say.
They don't take the time to drive the car enough to reproduce the problems. If you go with them and show them the problem, if it's not super loud or super obvious they say nothing is wrong.
I can pretty much reproduce the lug bug noise easily so that I think they won't deny is a problem.
The clunk on the right front side of car over bumps, they will most definately blow off.
The cold weather steering CRACK in the morning when turning the wheel they will have to let the car completely cold to check.
The reverse to drive CLUNK after letting off the brake they will also probably blow off.
The major glass issues, scratches and groves etc they will blame on me or car wash places eventhough 10 other people have not said they have the same problem with their civics.
This is my last chance before living with the problems and then writing Corporate Honda (not corporate care who is already involved) about my car and the service issues.
Maybe if I am lucky they can buy it back for a 07 at a decent value (not current trade-in value).
Let's see how it goes.
This morning as per my original message I dropped off the car and spoke with the service manager that knows the lady who opened my case at Honda Care Line.
I showed him both TSB's for lug bug and motor mount. He did not even keep them. He glanced them over and did not really have much to say.
I will know in the next day or so if they are going to fix anything or not.
Moral of the story. Don't assume knowledge and bringing TSB's are going to get your car fixed. I honestly think they don't like when we bring them, like it makes them look stupid. They don't understand customers don't like to be made felt stupid either.
Update coming shortly!
I think it's very cool that the place you called ordered the kit via the phone so you can save yourself a trip for diagnosis, etc.
If they do in fact fix it after the kit arrives, maintain a good relationship with them. Throw them an oil change very so often so they always have you in the system as a paying returning customer. It helps. (I myself do my own car work when it's possible/feasible).
Let us know how it goes when you get it fixed.
I await word on what they are going to do or not do for my car (this is with Honda Care's assistance)
Hope it works!

Without me going into a whole drawn out story (My norm, hahaha)the service manager did admit he slightly heard the drown at 1400 RPM. He is ordering the replacement belt kit.
With regards to the front right hand clunk. They said they did not hear any clunking (funny on the way home, I heard it plenty) but they are also ordering the motor mount replacement. I think they did this since my vin # falls in the range of affected cars.
I have to wait a week or so before parts arrive, etc.
I am much happier now other than the glass problems.
I find myself trying to hear them since I am so use to them.
I'd have to say it made the problem go away about 90%. I can still hear and feel a slight drone and a lugging feeling every once in a while, but not the loud constant buzz every time my speed hit the magic 40 mph and 1400 rpm. I think the remaining "lug" is simply a side effect of an engine that likes to rev high.
On another note, I took my Civic in for a really annoying rattle in the rear headliner , of course they tried to blow me off by saying "we don't want a mechanic tearing into your headliner" I stuck to my guns and acted a little p*ssed. "that is unacceptable; someone is going to fix this!" and I called for the service manager. He agreed to send it out to a upholstery shop where they found loose clips and wiring, which were fixed and my sanity restored!
The old saying "The squeaky wheel gets the grease" is ever so true when dealing with the your service deptartment!
The belt kit was a major improvement and I to can he the remaining slight drone but the noise now is just the normal sound of the engine at the 1400-1500 RPM range while in a higher gear.
I am shocked the dealership sent your car to have the roof liner clips fixed. They are totally capable of fixing that in house as the liner just pulls right down with some gentle prying.
Yep, a nagging customer always gets what they want so the service people can shut them up, hehehehe.
the belt replacement kit is a very quick repair. I do not believe there is any long term damage to worry about.
all they do is replace the belt with a longer belt that gets routed different on all the pullies to remove the noise.
Eventhough I have had it done, there is still a very small amount of noise, but much improved after the repair.
The Sandman
The only noise I hear now sounds more like the sound of the engine at the same speed and rpm, not the resonating noise.
I was also nervous when I had the belt replacement and motor mount that they would damage or scratch the car.
I was rather surprised that the work was done well with nothing done to the car other than the repairs.
Like you, I will hold the car for another year or so then trade.
I had an 86 civic Si and an 86 accord LXI, both of which got 200,000+ miles with no majaor repairs other than routine works like brakes, oil changes, fluid changes, etc.
I will be going back to subaru (I had a 05 that was hit pretty bad) as the 05 I had was perfect until it was hit.
I would buy honda again but not a civic of this shape/design.
Get the repairs done so that when you trade you can show the car had warranty work done, it might help get a little more when trading.
I broke the golden rule never buy a first year car model (that includes Honda)
I'm starting to get pretty fed up with this car; my headliner is rattling again as well, plus I can't get the damn glove box to stop making a popping or snapping noise when it is closed, so I drive around with it open most of the time. Don't get me started on all the "crunchy" sounds the dashboard keeps making.
I am seriously thinking of getting rid of this car; I've grown pretty disappointed with Honda. What's ironic is that I had a 2000 Dodge Neon before this and always took lots of sh*t from my friends about what a piece of junk they were. In FIVE YEARS I only had to take it to the dealer 1 TIME for any kind of issues. In the 17 months I've had this 2006 Civic sedan, I've had it into the dealer no less than 8 TIMES for various problems! :lemon:
I still have other problems that are not resolved as well and I do understand where you are coming from. Trust me I really do as I went through many months of being very agitated with my car even after the belt and motor mount was replaced.
The cold weather brings out more noise as things shrink and get smaller in the cold weather so gaps grow larger and tend to make more noise. My windshield area makes tons of noise on cold days.
I have considered myself trading for a 07 Honda element. I have do much research and since the model has been on the market sinec 03, most of the major bugs have been worked out. The do have a cracking windsheild issue though which I have to research more but the upright windsheild tends to get struck more while driving by small debris.
I have 9000 miles on my civic and have been back 5 times, only the last time yeilded the belt and mount replacement.
I also think one of my front struts is going bad as I hear a springy type noise when I go over humps at intersections. It makes the noise when the strut goes over something that causes a long travel.
I am at the point where every day I hear something that causes agitation and driving is not fun anymore.
The only we all have to consider (those wanting to trade) is the loss of value compared to the amount of money we owe (if a perons is financing). Most likely there will be a little negative equity which normally is not a major issue.
If you trade, what will you trade for? Many other new cars on the market also have issues that are causing people headaches.
Just my thoughts.
The Mazda3 had great handling, much better than the Civic and had a more torque-y 2.0 L engine. I don't ever remember hearing all the strange sounds in that car that I hear in the Civic. To be honest, I think Honda has let their quality slip while competitors catch up and overtake them.
Then again Consumer Reports loves all things Honda! :confuse:
I've tweaked my LX with alloy wheels and an improved sound system...2 upgrades which have made me love the car even more. Plan on keeping this car well into the next decade...G-d willing!
The Sandman
i have got the belt and mount replacement , also the right strut replacement..now my starter mechanism is getting bad. The car doesnt start sometimes... I feel like cheated buying a new Honda Civic 2006. I think Honda didnt test the piece..
Regards
Sid :-(
You may not have a starting problem per say, many of us wait a few seconds after putting the key in before starting the car.
Something to do with fuel pressure I believe.
Thank you!!
