I know this may sound silly, but does anyone have a clue as to removing the driver side sun visor? It no longer flips up all the way, and the mirror is cracked. I've done breaks, starters, head gaskets, water pumps, etc....thats why it sounds silly. It's my wifes car, and I dont want to mess it up. There is nothing in the repair shop manual. Does it just pull straight out of a socket?
Thanks for your time.

I had my mechanic remove my Passat ABS module for rebuild. Module Master seems to be the company most people use but BBA Reman charges less. Anyone had experience with BBA Reman or another company?
Thanks

Thanks for the heads up!
I am looking at a 2004 ford expedition xlt. We looked at it in person yesterday it has two flaws that need to be fixed the first is the passenger side mirror which the sales rep says they can replace at my expense but I can get it done cheaper else where so that is a no brianer and its a crack at the bottom of the mirror so not a big issue. The big issue is that the in the middle row the seat behind the driver adjusts when the rep opened the door and fooled w/ the seat he could literally push the seat back and pull it forward w/out using the lever. This to me is a safety issue since I will be the primary driver of my 8 and 5 yr old. I feel the dealer should fix this and not at my expense am I wrong in feeling this way. This is my first time buying a used car the only car that I have bought was brand new.
Also, I changed the name of the topic you created ( http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f1b09ef/0!keywords=#0 ) to improve the likelihood of a response.

(Since I jump right into My Watched Items, I've hardly noticed any difference).
I agree with you. It used to be easier to find certain forums. Now I have click and look around :confuse:
I guess it is what it is...

However, I went to the dealer today with my check from the Bank and was offered an interesting deal.
1. Sign up for the Lease and get Volvo's current incentive ($5.5K off the purchase price is what I was quoted.)
2. Pay the Lease for 3 months
3. After 3 months, exercise the Purchase Option and terminate the lease.
4. Go back to my bank and finance the car for 5-years.
I did some quick number crunching and it seems that even with the termination fee, I come out on top by about $3K when all is said and done.
Is there a "gotcha" here that I'm not seeing? I'm new to the whole leasing thing.
Thanks.

Where should I post to get answers and experience on dealing with how to get legal relief when dealing with car brokers or dealers who hold your deposit for ransom while coercing you into deals that were not part of your written agreement. Thanks for your assistance.

I am aware it was a stupid mistake. Now I am asking for any help there is available to get out of it if possible. Thanks to anyone who can help!

I have a signed contract with him that states the deposit is fully refundable if we cannot make a deal by October 4th. That date is past and he says he will not return my deposit. He says he has "expenses" and that he traded for a car at a dealer and now that dealer is mad at him. I repeatedly told him not to buy anything because our negotiations on the buyback of my car did not work out.
I know it's my fault for trusting the guy and actually giving a deposit. Duh!
Now that's out of the way, I can simply ask if anyone knows a lawyer that can help me in California. OR any other suggestions from people who have had successful dealing with crooked car lease brokers.
Any help is appreciated!
BUT, as tidester already said twice, post your question in an appropriate forum, such as purchasing strategies or sales frontlines. There are plenty of people willing to help you in either place. This forum is only for help locating those other forums. Have a great day, and good luck!
I have 2 suspicious emails in my @carspace email account. 1
One is supposedly from Paypal. (I don't use this email for my paypal account) The other is supposedly from Merchants National Bank. (I have no accounts in this Ohio bank.)
Perhaps your IT department can investigate....
A few weeks ago I got a PHONE CALL from someone claiming to be from PayPal and asking me to "verify" my PIN number (they knew my name!). It is astonishing what people will try. I seriously doubt PayPal knows anything about it and likewise for Merchants National Bank or our own site for that matter. I get spam like that from email accounts that I don't even use! It's called "phishing" and everyone is urged to use extreme caution when the phishers strike.

I highly doubt that he actualy bought a car. Especialy if you had a trade and that needed to be worked in the equation. I am just curious, can you list the brokers company name so i can google and see what size of a deposit they require. I would definately contact a lawyer because it doesn't sound like he met his side of the agreement.
Best of luck

Someone did a hit and run to my truck while it was parked in my apartment complex here at school, and left shattered pieces of one of their headlamps. I was wondering if people might recognize the make of car from pics of the headlamp.

This number could be used by someone to tell the make and approximate model of auto. If the part you have has this number, it might at least narrow down the year...
I don't know if this is the right place to post this question. Please feel free to move it to the correct forum.
I'm interested in an 08 car that has sit in dealer's lot for 10 months. When I test drove it a few days ago, it showed 37 miles. I did notice flat spots on the tires and the manager agrees compensation on tires. The price of the car is pretty good.
I'm not sure whether to take it or not. The color is not a very popular color but it's ok with me. I'm more worried of any mechanical problems for a car that has sit in lot for so long.
What do you think?
Your suggestions are highly appreciated.
Thanks.
I don't think the fact that it has been sitting on the lot is a big deal. My main concern would be about the deal. I hope it is aggressive.
Manager says he'll replace the tires, that's great. Have them change the oil too. Don't plan on trading out of it soon because you are already buying a vehicle 1 year old. His deal should be VERY aggressive.
Good luck!
Thanks for your quick reply.
The MSRP is $31,000, invoice $29,500. Cash back from manufacturer is about $3,750. Dealer offers $24,650 (including the compensation of tires).
Do you think that's aggressive?
I'm afraid to put the savings I get now into future repairs costs due to this car not being driven for 10 months.
Thanks so much.
Remember, you will still get the 36 month/36,000 mile (or whatever it carries) factory warranty starting from the time you drive it off the lot, just like a new from the factory 2009.
I know the dealership will want me to finance through them, but I won't.
Given all of the identity theft problems today, I don't want to provide the dealership by SSN, and shouldn't have to since I'm not financing through them (or anyone for that matter).
Do you know the laws in California about that? Since, I know that the DMV does not require a SSN to register a vehicle, I don't think the dealership can require it.
Thanks.
or perhaps
