Total MSRP $27,770......Total Invioce $25,622 Total Cost......$24,521 + TT&T.
$1,101 under invoice....add back in their doc fee of $498 & it's still $603 below invoice!
Dealer also agreed to throw in pin striping, about a $100 value.
I used a fax attack to several dealers in the area. I had a Costco dealer quote me at invoice and a third dealer quoted $440 below invoice but would not budge on doc fee of $489.
You should know that Car Deals, who publish rebate & incentive programs for all vehicles, shows a $600 dealer incentive on the Rogue (right now) if they meet preset sales target. My dealer in Roswell was obviously close and needed the sale this month. He was straight forward and honest about making the deal work and a pleasure to deal with.
I also purchased a new loaded Murano SL that I pick up on Sunday. That eventually came in at $300 below invoice after going back & forth with a couple dealers. But that's a different story.
I found the Rogue easier to deal on than the Murano but business in March has been soft. If you're really looking for the BEST deal, go to www.fitzmall.com and they had Rogues at $600 below invoice and 2009 Murano's up to $800 off invoice. Had I not scored in Atlanta, I was considering making the trip to Chambersburg, PA if needed. In any event, this site has been most helpful so I wanted share my buying success on the Rogue. While I suspect more deals might follow in April, I'm pleased I found the exact color/options & met my objective to be below invoice on both cars.
Good luck! I hope the cars are as good as the deals.
Anytime is a good time if you've done some research. The end of most any month should be a good time while business is slow. You just have to find a dealer that needs that one last sale for the month in order to save you some serious money. Keep an eye on these posts, I think you'll find them quite helpful. Good luck.
You made a good deal in Atlanta! I'm in Eastern PA. We went shopping on Saturday and picked up our Rogue late last night (always good to close the sale on the last night of the month). Here's my car:
Total MSRP $27,920......Total Invioce $25,678 My Cost.$25,535 + TT&T. This price included destination charges.
So not quite as good as your deal. But pretty good, I believe. Very friendly dealer for me: Ardmore Nissan near Philadelphia. Internet sales guy was quick to show his numbers and negotiation process was easy.
Here's my wife's new baby parked next to my 4 yr-old Altima:
My wife and I purchased our new Gotham Gray Rogue SL with leather package, moonroof package and splash guards through CarsDirect.com for a total invoice price of $25,000. No haggle, carsdirect.com did the shopping and the dealer is delivering the car to our house.
The bumper protector is an extra $60. Do you think this is necessary or a good option to have? I looked at the picture and don't really see how it protects the bumper.
Bumper protector is good. Specially if you like to step on the rear bumper to access the roof or when moving hard objects in and out of the trunk. I personally hate to see scratch line on the bumper.
Could you please be a little more specific which website you are referring to when you say "Car Deals"??? Having a hard time finding that information....
We purchased our Rogue on March 28 in Roswell, the same day as one of the other posters. We also requested internet pricing and received calls from several Nissan dealers around Atlanta. However, our company subscribes us to Sparkfly which is an employee discount site for entertainment, electronics, autos, etc. Sparkly had a listing from Regal Nissan in Roswell Georgia as starting at 1% below invoice on any new car, We met with the internet salesman on Saturday March 21 and test drove Muranos and Rogues.
We used the 1% below invoice as the starting part of our negotiations. They quoted us about $500 below invoice after an hour and two visits form the sales manager, but we left and said we had to sleep on it. I test drove several competitors that week (Honda, Mazda, and Rav 4). We have found over the years that a car dealer will always call you a few days later with a better price if you walk the first day. I believe their trends say 90% of the people never come back. Regal Nissan called us Monday and then again Friday and said they would make it worth our while to come back. We came back Saturday March 28, and negotiated an additional savings of $200 on $333 of add-ons (chrome front grill, back bumper cover, and floor mats) I know, floor mats not in the original price is unbelievable.
Anyway, we were buying the basic SL 2WD with cloth seats, Splash guards, Moonroof and Premium Package.
We felt pretty good about the deal. Since it was their lower end model without leather, I don't believe they had the play below invoice like they do when you get one loaded with leather, etc.
I also wrote a review on Edmunds consumer review tonight discussing how pleased I am with the car.
I just recently purchased a 2008 Nissan Rogue at a deler in St Louis. After 3 visits and numerous phone calls we finally came to a deal on the vehicle the wife wanted. It is the SL AWD version in Iridium Graphite. We got the AWD premium package, roof rails and the cargo options but she did not want the leather. We finally hashed out a deal of $22,250.00 + TTL. There is hope out there if you hold out and are not afraid to walk away from the car a few times.
So thats about $1000 below invoice? I'm trying to buy a SL AWD, Prem Package, Moon Roof, Leather and mats for $1000 below invoice but so far no luck. $25,000+ TTL is the lowest I got.
I am looking at a Rogue SL AWD with premium pkg, leather, moonroof and splash guards with an MSRP of $27700. I also qualify for Nissan VPP pricing Plan D because of the company I work for. Two of the quotes I have gotten come right in at $25400+TTT right at dealer invoice. I'm just wondering if right at invoice would be a decent price right now or are these vehicles still being sold as aggressively under invoice as it seemed in the beginning of the year. Unfortunately, I haven't seen any dealer cash or incentives which would have driven my price down even lower.
Here is the Plan D equation: Dealer invoice Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87%) Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, Infiniti Extended Protection Plan, etc. Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted Plus destination and handling charge Minus applicable incentives Equals participant's purchase price
Guys, I got an invoice price of 25,800$ for SL, AWD, Premium Package, Leather Package, Moon roof, Rail cross bars, Moon roof deflector, Splash guards, Bumper protector. What do you think? It is a gray exterior and black interior. Do you think they go well? :confuse:
I got my 2008 Nissan Rogue SL AWD Premium Package, Moonroof package, Gray Leather interior, Roof Rail Crossbars, Floor Mats, Splash guards, and Rear Bumper Protector, in wicked Black for the internet price of $25,659.00 plus tax and lic. at Superior Nissan of Carson in Carson, Ca. Paid OTD= $28,075.00 It was a dealer trade. The salesman was able to locate it for me all the way up in Santa Barbara. Very pleasant guy--no haggling. Drives like a car! Many thanks to this forum!!!
Sounds like a good deal. I got my SL AWD with leather, (Iridium Graphite), and everything you could get, as far as I know, and it was just under $25k. I then added another $1,000, or so, for moon roof wind screen, rear spoiler, bumper runner thingy, and front grill chrome thingy's. So it's about the same. I know that was a great price. Actually, it was a 2 year lease; $443/mo, $680 drive off. I don't think I could have done much better than that - though a dealer did, at the last second, try to give me the same deal with $300 drive off. But, they were 2 hours away versus right down the street. (though they said they'd deliver it). I was already too far down the road to switch for just a few hundred bucks.
LOVE, love, love my Rogue!!! It's my first SUV or truck or anything other than a car in my entire life - and I've had 36 cars. For the price, the Rogue is far and away the best value. To give you an example, my last few cars were: Infiniti M35; Lexus G300; Infiniti Q45; Infiniti I30t; VW Passat V6; Porsche 944; etc. As you can see, mostly luxury cars. And the Rogue doesn't dissappoint in that department. The only thing lacking is the rearview mirror camera - which I miss; and dual climate controls - also miss.
Those few things are minor, given the price-point and offset by the comparable luxury, ride, etcetera. Couldn't be happier with it - and that's saying something. The gas mileage was the clincher, BTW - I'm getting close to 26 on the highway, and I have a lead foot. Aroiund town it's about 21. So, pretty much as advertised.
My original plan was for the Murano, since it was $10k cheaper than the Lexus RX-450 Hybrid, but the gas mileage wasn't as good as the Rogue and I actually like the rider BETTER on the Rogue than the Murano. My build came to $29k, but I got them down to just under $25k, which I think was great. The Murano was $39k. Lexus $49k. The Rogue has plenty of zip and handles better, IMHO, than the Murano or Lexus. Fun as hell, and better on gas. Why anyone would buy a Murano - or any other crossover- is beyond me, unless they just don't know about it.
just became an owner of a 08 SL AWD loaded to the gills - MSRP $28070.00, paid $25500 plus TTL but not incl $500.00 rebate using the internet for 'bids' - don't know if that is good other than it is a bunch lower than Edmunds TMV - sounds very similar to your 'deal' . Buying experience was what I've come to expect. I had found the dealer that had precisely the color/option set I wanted in stock, and also had a written quote for the same car from another dealer, the salesman/sales mgr. involved still wanted to waste my time 'negotiating' a 'new' deal. Ended up quickly giving him a 'take it or leave it' ultimatum and started to walk out. Can't believe that anybody would spend this kind of money without doing at least some kind of research and have this 'ammo' available for precisely this kind of situation - his initial offer was for 2 grand more than I paid - wouldn't want to think about how long I might have been there if I had tried to whittle him down that much. Anyway, the buyer is the one spending a bunch of money here - how or where does anybody get off trying to dictate how I'm going to spend it? Bugs the bejeepers out of me. Whether we paid too much or not is not the point - nobody pays too much if they are happy with what they did pay!
Didn't like options like leather, bluetooth, and the xenons being tied to the AWD SL only - I live in Texas and would not have gotten the AWD otherwise although I do like the fact that both it and the VSC are easily user switchable. The AWD will cost me a mpg or two . At this point obviously a bit early to tell too much about this vehicle as this is replacing an Altima but I especially like the perforated and heated leather seats as well as the XM/Bose upgrade. Heading on a long trip in it (about 1800 total miles) this week and am expecting FE something in the high 20s - guess we'll see
Hi im looking to purchase a 2008 Rogue SL (basics not options besides maybe floor mats) in MA in the next few weeks. Any suggestions or tips on negotiating and working the dealers?
What kind of prices for the basic awd are people coming across (especially in Mass)?
Lookin for any advice and numbers that people can offer me. Thanks
can't tell what they get for Rogues in MA, but the SL w/premium/moonroof/mats/bumper guards (sticker $24760.00) are selling down here in TX for $22414 purportedly $500 under invoice but also not including a $500 rebate making it 21914 or a grand under. Suggest you do the same thing I just did - get some hard number internet quotes, buy from the most competitive dealer or if the dealer involved doesn't have precisely what you want, take your quote into the dealer that does and simply ask him to match YOUR best price and by all means be strong enough to walk out when he/she hems and haws too much but also be prepared to sign on the dotted line if the numbers are to YOUR satisfaction. Think the dealers in general will be pretty good at telling who is a real buyer as opposed to a 'sport' negotiator, and are generally aware of what the other dealers in the area sell things for. Understand that they really don't make a bunch of money selling new cars - that comes later in the service dept. or in the used car lots.
Invoice numbers (while not terribly representative of the car's actual cost) are available rather easily here at Edmunds (as well as MSN), both provide a no obligation quote service that will be sent out to dealers close to your zip code. Have found that Edmund's TMV (market value) numbers are generally high. You can also expand your search over a wider area by simply contacting those dealers directly on their own websites. The internet is a powerful tool sometimes - use it, may save you a grand or even more. All vehicles tend to vary in popularity (and price) from region to region, heck down here in Texas the Dealers are STILL selling a bunch of pickups..
sure sounds like a long way to come - airfare + the gas to drive 1800 miles would mean a lot of bucks difference not to mention the time. To answer your question try Baker Jackson Nissan in Houston - you should be able to contact their website and their internet sales dept. directly as well as view inventory and so forth.
I got a great deal last Friday on my 2008 SL AWD Rogue, with moonroof, floor mats, and more at Pohanka Nissan in Fredericksburg, VA. . I dealt with them by email first and after getting the figures went there from Maryland (thru AAA Buying Service which recommended Pohanka) and the deal and figures were exactly the same as in the email. They were very nice, professional and did everything they could to make me happy. What a great place to deal with and what a great car. I love my Rogue. They also gave me the most $ for my trade in. I tried all of the Nissan dealers in the Baltimore, MD and Hanover, Pa area, but this dealer was the best. I have 400 miles on it so far and I just filled up the gas tank and I computed 25 mpg.
I'm in the market for a new Rogue. I'm looking for a S w/ AWD no frills type model. I've been quoted as low as 19,500. Is that a good price? Can I do better? I'm looking to buy this week so any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Hate to say it, but that's not a great price. I got my SL AWD, leather, loaded to the gills with every option, for just under $25k, and then spent another $1,000 on moon roof windscreen, rear bumper rubber thingy, rear spoiler, and chrome grill inserts.
I am looking at SL 2WD with premium package, bumper protector, and roof rails. The MSRP is $23,905. The invoice is showing as $22,159. I am getting a price of $22,459 on UPromise. Who thinks I can go lower. Should I start the bidding around $21,500?
a few hundred one way or another of 'invoice' ought to be about right - it's really strange sometimes that a few hundred dollars (a percentage point or two) makes that much difference to a car buyer - must be an ego thing because that $300.00 difference you are talking about here really doesn't amount to much regardless of how you choose to pay it. Have some friends that travelled almost a thousand miles just to save a few hundred bucks at a 'country' dealer - apparently not understanding that just their hotel bills were more than what they saved or even the values of our own times as we sit in some salesman's office and allow him to play those interminable 'let me take it to the sales mgr.' games- all the price of bragging rights I guess. IMO, the prices of any specific car is more related to supply and demand in a particular part of the country and that most all dealers will pretty much know and meet whatever that price is. Do your research using the internet and you'll find out what the price is - and then you can avoid all the crappola that happens when you have to spend time in the showrooms, but in your case does $300+ make that much difference when you are spending $22 grand?.
Totally agree!. Amazing how people loose a great $500.000 house over $2000 disagreement. I think as a buyer you should keep everything under perspective and not become victim of ignorance.
Just put a deposit on sl leather, moonroof, awd, 26,422. out the door....I hope this is a good deal. There are not too many around here in my area....got wicked black.... picking it up next week....
I've read a couple people report they got a $500 rebate deducted to an already negotiated price below invoice. What is this $500 rebate all about? Is that the college grad rebate? Is there more info about this somewhere?
yeah everybody would like to be a 'champeen' care negotiator when all it really takes to get a 'competitive' price on any vehicle is a bit of research and letting whoever you are dealing know that you have done that research. Saves time and money. The internet makes it easier than it used to be but it is still amazing to me how many folks will go into a dealer, unprepared and will consequently get 'screwed' out of a grand or two. Many people forget (or don't care to recognize) that the 'poor' car dealer while he is not making a bunch of profit on pretty much anything he might sell you, is still entitled to (and generally deserving of) a 'reasonable' profit.
Yes, that's for new grads... currently that's the only "incentive" you can get on the purchase of a Rogue from Nissan: Qualified recent or soon-to-be graduates can receive $500 Nissan cash back on the purchase or lease of a new 2008 Rogue, Altima (excluding Hybrid and Altima Coupe), Xterra, Sentra or Versa.
they are offering a lease deal... it doesn't look like a great deal to me as they want 3K down... but then I don't lease, prefer to drive them for 8 or 9 years.
We went and test drove a Rogue last weekend and internet dealer gave me $300 under invoice pricing. Told him we'd think about it...well, he just called me and said that this Saturday-Monday, an add'l $500 off the low price he already quoted is available from Nissan as part of a Memorial Day event. I think we might go ahead and do it.
I'm looking at trading in my ford Edge 07 for either a rogue or Altima.. the following is estimated for a 2wd SL with prem package in iridium graphite [tho I really would like the blue]
Rogue estimated price $24,500
estimated trade in value for edge with 12k miles $21,000
Diff in price $3500 or so. <this price what I would be paying tax on
Financing is far far better then the Edge under 310/month 4 72 months or under 355 for 60 months.
The salesman I'm working I have known for a while now, He is very nice and easy to get along with, very little pressure from him. I cannot say the same for other sales people at the same place though. but anyway..
Wendle also has a Rogue that is awd but cheaper then the 2wd that I test drove.
I also am looking at the Altima, but I've grown up with and driven trucks, minivans for the most part. Sedans really arent my cup of tea one hand, but I really like the current mpg bar on the Altima, but dont like the steering wheel's proximity to ne [I tend to like having the seat high as possible. Sadly, why the engineers made seat height adjust ment also move the seat forward when one want to only go up... bothers me]. The Altima is also cheaper then the Rogue 2wd SL, but again. I'm not sure I like have a sedan. I've never been a fan of then partially due to the trunk sticking out behind the rear window.
So many factors... The other nissan dealer wont do a test drive unless theres a deal involved and I felt badly treated by Jaremko.
I think I've got a pretty good deal worked out, but should I do more research or what? Advice and opinions?
Since the options I got was never surfaced in this forum, I thought I would contribute my info. SL / AWD with moonroof, splash guards, bumper protector, floor/cargo mats (NO premium or leather) for $23066 OTD. I hope that's not a bad price
The price was originally supposed to be $22522 OTD WITHOUT the moonroof but all the others the same. I called them to make sure before I left because it was an hour long drive. When I got there, they said the car's in the computer but couldn't find on the lot and they tried to sell me one with the moonroof package. I thought I fell for the bait-and-switch scam. Was pretty pissed off but since I drove an hour, I might as well listen to their offer on this one with the moonroof package. Ended up with one at $544 more than what I bargained for but it was still cheaper than $800 moonroof package price. I am kinda glad that I got the moonroof now
Just bought a Rogue earlier today. Wicked Black (not my first choice of color but only 2 left in WNY), grey interior, SL, AWD Premium Package, moonroof, splash guards, moonroof wind deflector, MSRP $26,250. Dealer took $1550 off, plus $500 graduate discount, resulting in $24,700 + tax. We feel this was a good deal.

Here is the Plan D equation:
Dealer invoice
Minus VPP discount (Nissan 2.87%)
Plus dealer added options, Security Plus, Infiniti Extended Protection Plan, etc.
Plus 2.5% delivery fee of dealer invoice after VPP discount has been subtracted
Plus destination and handling charge
Minus applicable incentives
Equals participant's purchase price
