    Otis15,

I wanted the same car you did, the Scarlet Silver/Wheat w/ Nav, Prem, & Tech. I know where that car is, too. It is at Glendale Infiniti, but . . .the guy I was dealing with consistently wanted more cash, and when I emailed him the flier from Metro, he balked, saying it was $1,100 over price. I tried to get that car, but honestly, I love the Liquid Plat/Stone much better!

Go for it! I know you'll get a good price. If you don't want the Tech, it will be easier to get that specific car. I just shredded all my notes, but a few are out there. They have one like that at Van Nuys, with a good price, so check there, too. I didn't want the luxe pkg. as I don't like the feel of those larger tires, I find they make the ride a bit stiff.

    Keep me posted!

No, I am not in the state. Shipping on the car will be an added expense. I am only getting around 1500 under invoice in Florida. I am partial to the light leather in the scarlet silver and am leaning toward trying to find the exact car a bit closer to home.

Orchidgal, I agree about the ride feel in the 17's vs 18's and don't want the Lux package either.A bit too stiff for me. I was originally looking at the exact car you bought but find I like the regular back up camera compared to the duel image in the Tech package. Thanks for all the info.

Tangofan & Orchidgal, you must have been purchasing as opposed to leasing? I've been told that there is 2k of core dealer cash that they can only use on a purchase. Nobody is making those fantastic offers to me...and I'm asking, too! So far, CarsDirect is giving me the best price at about $1200 below invoice. I'll keep trying, though.

    Thanks!

    Hi Otis15
Yes this would be a purchase. As far as I see, this is the ONLY dealer who is offering anything like this as far as a discount. There is a manufacturer to dealer offer good until 6/30/08 for the 2K. As you said, it is only good toward a purchase. From what I understand this California dealer is offering an additional amount off due to the holdback expiring. I did not think holdbacks had an expiration date. I learned something.
In my local area, the best quote I have gotten from other dealers is 1500 under invoice. Most of the dealers in my area are quoting between 1000 and 1500 off invoice. Some want way more.
If you can work it out to buy, it seems like a great deal in your area.

The problem with not getting the Lux package is you'll not get HID headlights.

Maybe it's not a big deal to some people. But to me, driving a nice car like this one with halogen headlights is unacceptable.

After some careful looking I got mine:

    EX32 Journey AWD Platinum Graphite/Chestnut
    Tech Package
    Premium Package
    Navigation Package
    Luxe Elite Package
    Wood Trim
    Splash Guards
    Roof Rails
    Roof Rail Cross bars
    Cargo Area Protector

out the door price $422**.00 (dont want to identify myself) invoice is 42486. My price includes about $900 in shipping to bring it to me. Had the car been local I probably could have got closer to $41, however a car with these options doesn't lend itself to much flexibility.

If anyone wants one with these options with White on wheat leather let me know, I have a lead on on in Washington as well.

just a few notes. Base price has increased $600 on recently delivered vehicles, Edmunds prices are old. Old inventory sitting on lots will still hve the old base. Fuel prices are killing everyone.

    Fuel prices are killing everyone

No not every1 life is going on every1 is still purchasing new cars.

BTW how does the EX compare to FX.
  • trevebtreveb Member Posts: 1
Edmunds currently shows 3 marketing incentives.
    $500 dealer cash back.
$1000 with Nav package dealer cash back
$2000 with financing dealer cash back

    Total = $3500

There is nothing saying that these cannot be combined. My dealer says no to the $500+$1000. It's one or the other, not both. Infiniti USA says the incentives do no exist.

    Anyone have the definitive answer?
  • orchidgalorchidgal Member Posts: 19
I cannot say I have a definitive answer, but I did buy an EX May 13 for $3,800 under invoice, a good deal in my opinion. I do know from research that there is a manufacturer's rebate to dealer's of 2k that is good until June 30.

They are finding sales slow, so must move the cars that have been on the lot longest to avoid having to pay. The manufacturer pay dealers a hold back for the first 90 days, after that the dealer must pay, so they want to get rid of these cars. That's how I got my car.

Infiniti of Monrovia, in California offered a deal for the month of May of $7,685 off sticker. I had emailed all the dealers in So Cal and heard back different offers and took the best one and worked a deal from there with my knowledge of the 2k kickback and the hold back. I paid cash, too, so the loan part wasn't involved.

I'm a "girl" and have never bought a used car. It was hard being in there with these salespeople by myself, but my research held up for me to make a great deal for myself. Other dealers refused the terms I asked for, but I went to the one ready to play. You've got to be ready to decline offers you don't like and be patient and negotiate for the deal you do want.

    Good luck!

I would talk to another dealer.
A dealer in California offered 3500 under invoice in May when I first stared to look at them & was only getting 1500 off MSRP in Florida. The freight was too high for me. I was told by a dealer in Orlando Fl. that the 3500.00 was the total incentives they had to play with on purchased EX (not a lease) and was available until June 30, 2008 on any in stock EX they had on the lot. He also stated back in May that an additional 500.00 is available as well if the dealer makes his numbers. The Orlando dealer offered me 3300 off invoice on any EX he had. Said the price was good until 6/30/08
I was able to get 3380.00 off invoice for an EX last month from a local dealer.I know the incentives exist, but some dealers don't want to give up all that $$/

I live in FL - I am curious, what dealer gave you this price in Orlando? Can you breakdown the deal for me and give me the sales person's name for a reference?

    Thanks!

This EX 35 had prem, nav & wood. This is taken out of an e mail I received. Other quotes for EX's were right at 3200 under invoice.I e mailed the internet dept & received this and other quotes with no hassle at all.

It has a MSRP of $40,825.
You mentioned in your inquiry that you were seeking our best price and I am fully prepared to give it to you. We offer special pricing to our Internet Guests in an attempt to make your decision a very simple and easy one should you elect to move forward with this EX35.
Your special Internet price (Retail Only) is $33,992 + Tax, Tag ($124 to Transfer, $224 for a New Tag, $6.50 Florida Fees and our $499 Dealer Administration Fee.
A savings of $6,833 off the MSRP just for contacting the Orlando Infiniti

I can't give you the salesmans name because of Edmunds policy but it is Orlando Infiniti. HTH Tango
  • orchidgalorchidgal Member Posts: 19
The deal sounds fine except for the "dealer administration fee" of $499, as that is not anything you should be charged for, it is a way for them to get extra money out of you. I would ask about it and refuse to pay it. The internet deal I was offered was $7,865 off sticker. The deal I ended up with was $7,672.50 off sticker. I wasn't charged any admin/dealer fee.
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
Yes ,the California Infiniti dealer I spoke with was willing to not charge the dealer fee. They were the only dealer I know who would drop it to sell the vehicle. It would have run me 900 to have it shipped so I had to factor that in.

Down in Florida, they will not budge. Orlando's fee is less than most as the fees I ran into are 599, 699 & 799. I was able to get a bit over 7,000 off MSRP locally but I did have to pay a dealer fee.
You have gotten the best price I have seen on the EX.

Just received this email from a dealer in southern california: "Base" Journey EX still has "everything", including leather, suroof, 6cd- changer, bluetooth, powers eats, etc. No Nav though. Retails for $35,875. Invoice - $33,026 Can be yours for $32,098.93 Out The Door!

    What do you think?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,647
Well, Journey and Base are 2 different vehicles. But since you put Base in quotes, I guess you knew that.

But I'm confused on the prices. Retail should be $35,450, according to Edmunds, BEFORE destination. Total sticker is $36,315. Invoice is $33,462.

There is a whopping $4k dealer cash on the vehicle. Do you currently own an Infiniti? If so, that's another $1k. Do you lease an infiniti? That's another $500.

Even if we assume no to the above questions, the dealer cash should bring you down to a $29,500 selling price. I have NO idea what taxes and fees are in Cali, so you'll have to help me out here. In NJ, I'd be looking at ~$2600 in taxes and fees, which would bring me right to that OTD price you were quoted. But, I do own an Infiniti, so I'd be looking to get another $1k off. :)

Seems like this might be a RWD Journey with a cargo protector only. No other options. I would try for at least 7,000.00 off MSRP due to all the dealer cash available on this. Metro Infiniti was offering over 7,000 off MSRP with no dealer fee.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,647
Metro Infiniti was offering over 7,000 off MSRP with no dealer fee

    Offering to who?
Like I said, if you are eligible for the loyalty rebate, this is possible. Otherwise, I'm not so sure. How much holdback are in these? I'm not sure they have $1k holdback to play with. In which case, $7k off without the loyalty rebate would be a loss to the dealer.

I had sent out emails to all local dealers in Southern California inquiring about the EX, and Metro sent me an offer that was sent to all people who had inquired about the EX via email - I asked. It said that for the month of May they were offering that rebate, $7685 off MSRP. When I went in it became clear they were trying to move out the old stock, as they offered me two cars I did not ask for, and said the one they told me that they had, the one I wanted, had "just" been sold. But I knew of one that I wanted that another dealer said he could get for me, but he wouldn't go with my offer, so I told Metro, and they found it on the computer, then made a deal with me and sent for it - it was out of town in another county five hours away. The price was $35,668 w/o tax. When I got home after closing the deal I worked on my calculator and found they'd kept the holdback, $520. I called the guy's boss and he looked into the email offer I'd received, and gave me back the amount that covered the original offer of $7685 off MSRP: $327.75, so the price was $35,340. I was happy with the deal which turned out to be $ 7,685 off my sticker of $43,025. The Infiniti web site prices my car at $43,625. All I can say today is I love my car!! It's the best car I've ever had!
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,647
Yes, well, of course, a more expensive car can offer a bigger discount because there is a bigger difference between invoice and MSRP. I don't think $7685 would be possible on the base model unless the dealer is willing to pay someone to take the car off their hands (or the other rebates apply).

Unfortunately I don't own or lease an infiniti. Taxes are 8.25% where I live (los angeles). Turns out to be appx $29245 plus taxes (about $2852). It doesn't seem like a bad deal, but I wonder how much better I can do. This was his first offer.

It's between the Journey EX or the Lincoln MKZ, which I can obviously get for a lot cheaper...
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
So you are just around 6,000 under MSRP on the Journey you wanted. Thats not bad and the car is great!
I too was able to get a bit over 7,000 off MSRP in Florida and my sticker price was 42,075.00. I did not own an Infiniti prior to purchasing. I had gotten a quote from Metro in California on any EX they had on their lot for 7,000 off. No dealer fee. The freight to ship was 900.00 so I bought locally & paid a dealer fee. Got basically the same offer from Orlando Florida on any EX on the lot. From what I understand the difference between invoice & MSRP is about 3K.
  • bjp818bjp818 Member Posts: 12
congrats on your vehicle! If I can get the dealer down to around 31000, it might be too hard to turn down. Then again, I can get a fully loaded MKZ for around the same price I think
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
That's a nice vehicle too. I think it also runs on regular fuel instead of premium and the mpg is close to the EX so that is a savings for you if you choose to go with the MKZ.

What kind of financing is available with the large incentives ($7000) under invoice?
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
I paid 7000 under MSRP (about 3300 under invoice )& they offered 2.9% financing to me. 2.9 was the lowest rate available at the time I bought. I know that 0 % is available now as is 4,000 dealer cash ...you may be able to get both if you try .
  • exmaybeexmaybe Member Posts: 6
Today I was offerred either invoice minus $3K, or invoice plus 0% financing. You can finance 100% of the car. The dealers are being offered 0% financing for up to 72 months or $4K cash back until Sept 2nd.

If you take invoice minus $3K, that is just over $7K off of MSRP and not bad. Looks like they are keeping $1K plus holdback for profit. Of course, the car must be available.

Any idea when the 09's come out?

new to the forum. i rec'd a quote of 36k before ttl on the EX journey awd with prem/navg/luxe sty/with roof rail. sug. retail price $43500 said dealer. the quote is only good on the 4k rabate and cannot combine with 0% financing. Is that a good deal? any feedback would be appreciated.

    thank you all !!!

    That is a good price.
  • bjp818bjp818 Member Posts: 12
When they offer 0% financing, does that mean you HAVE to execpt the msrp or can you negotiate that down? Thanks!
  • CarMan@EdmundsCarMan@Edmunds Member Posts: 38,514
Hi bjp818. Offers like 0% financing are paid for by vehicles' manufacturers and have absolutely nothing to do with individual dealers. You absolutely should be able to negotiate a discount on the EX that you want and still take advantage of this special rate. The fact that Infiniti has to offer a low interest rate like this on the EX means that this model is not selling very well right now you will probably be able to negotiate a substantial dealer discount on it. If I was in the market for one, I personally would shoot for a couple hundred dollars over dealer invoice. You can look up the exact invoice price of the model that you want by hopping over to the New Vehicle Pricing section of Edmunds.com.

You should be able to get both 0% financing AND invoice. If you finance the full amount at 72 mos, you save over $4K in interst.... actual amount depends on the interest rate you would have paid.
  • exmaybeexmaybe Member Posts: 6
The EX35 seems to be selling around 1K vehicles per year. Does anyone know what the expected volume is/was?

When do the 09's come out? It should be within 2 mos.
  • bjp818bjp818 Member Posts: 12
thanks a lot for the info, guys...I bit the bullet and through a broker, got an EX JOURNEY (no options) for 29100. This is over 4300 under invoice (31850 OTD). I chose this instead of just over invoice and the 0%, because I'm putting 5000 down and I might be paying it off within a year anyway. I'm pretty sure I got a good deal. Thoughts? This whole proccess of not only finding the best deal but also choosing between the EX and G, has been ridiculously stressful. But I think I made the right call. Though I have already changed my mind 1000 times lol.

I haven't signed the papers yet. But I think I'm gonna stick with the EX :)

So what make you choose EX over G???

How do you like your new EX?
  • orchidgalorchidgal Member Posts: 19
I got the EX because I wanted a hatchback type of car - for work and for play. I haven't owned a sedan for many years.

I LOVE my EX unabashedly! It's the best car I've ever owned. Have not had any of the problems that other drivers have had and mentioned on this forum. No leaking sunroof - yea. Everything about it is great and every time I drive it my heart sings with happiness! How's that??
  • fatcat71fatcat71 Member Posts: 75
I was quoted 40,550 for the same car. Where did you get your quote from. I got mine from Infiniti of Greenwich ( CT). I have not even tried to negotiate yet, but will let you know. Edmonds is indicating that people are paying under invoice, but the quote I got is only 1k over invoice. Any thoughts?? Has anyone actually gotten a EX for under invoice just by negotiating with their dealer??
  • tangofantangofan Member Posts: 50
I bought for about 3300 under invoice in Florida. Orchidgal did even better than I did in California. I did all of my negotiations over the internet. I took the best price to the place I test drove the car & they matched it, They also gave me a very good price on my trade in so I am a happy girl.
I am hearing that 4000 under invoice is able to happen if you buy before 9.2.08. I would try for 4,000 under invoice & see what happens. It may make sense if you buy it & ship it to you in Ct. Good luck. It's a great car!!

36.7k was the selling price of the car with prem, lux style, navag, roof rail with cross bars, splash guards, cargo protector. The price is very close to invoice. My purchase was with Ray Catean NJ. Process was straightfoward. No real negotations. They sent me a quote and I accepted because I thought that was fair. Good luck on you purchase.

You should be able to get 0% and invoice pricing or, -$3,000+ under invoice.

paid 38,400 for a EX35 AWD Journey with Nav, Prem, Lux Style, Roof Rails w/crossbars, cargo area organizer, cargo area mat, mudflaps. Got the 0% also. This is in Long Island NY. Good deal???

    What was the MSRP?
I spoke to a salesman from Fields Infiniti in the Chicago area and he said he can take $8,000 off the sticker on any EX35 with Navigation and Premium Package. The vehicle I was looking at had a sticker(MSRP) of $42,225 it had the premium package, navigation, cargo organizer and cargo protector. The invoice on this vehicle is $38,621 so the price would be about $4,400 off invoice. The only problem I had was you have to take a vehicle in stock, they don't want to trade with another dealer. They don't have the Black on Wheat and that is what I was looking for so I'm still thinking about it.
  • bjp818bjp818 Member Posts: 12
hey guys. I do like my ex quite a bit. not for it's looks (not that it's an ugly car by any means), but the way it drives. it's just awesome. sticker price was 36250, got it for 29087. That's over 4300 under invoice unless I'm mistaken. Cheaper than I could've got from my other choice (G35) and less in insurance. I went through a company called CLS. They did all the work: found the colors I wanted, delivered the car to me and showed me how everything works. Very painless transaction. If anyone is in the S. Cal area and would like more information about them, let me know. I don't have their card in front of me at the moment.
Thanks for all your replies :)
