    them off that easy. That's why they have Ins. I'm sure they don't do it on purpose but that can happen with that type of business. Maybe it is "only a truck", but unless it's a work truck (ie: commercial) I take care of mine just like I would any vehicle. Even though I do everything I can to protect the bed if I do put something in it I realize it could get marked up. But I don't expect any damage to rest of my truck any more than I would if it were a car. With one exception......my Grandchildren played in the bed when they were younger. That was OK.

    ok lets say i go get it fixed. They have to remove everything off the door and repaint the whole thing (not just the nickel size damage). They keep my truck for 3-4 days. To much of an inconvience. I know more scratches are coming.

    Hey all, need some help on interior maintenance. What products you use for cleaning/protecting the plastic dash and the leather steering wheel? Summer sun... I heard Armor All is actually no good. Myth?

    Because it's a truck and the bed is made to take abuse, on the other hand the outside shouldn't unless of course you go off road or use it for commercial purposes and then all bets are off! I'm sure Edward Scissorhands Lawnmower Man was glad you didn't tell his boss or put in a claim but that is your decision, he does (or should) have insurance for that type of accident anyway, imagine what your truck would look like if it were to happen once a week for the duration of lawnmowing season, all by well meaning didn't do it on purpose lawnmower men! haha

    Eric, I'm with you on your line of thinking for "pay it off and hold onto it for awhile". I also keep my vehicles on average 12 years. I usually pay it off in 3-4 years and enjoy no payments for the next 6-8 years. I do put money aside for maintenance purposes as that is only natural for longevity of the truck anyway ya know the wearable part fixes needed from time to time.

    I use 303 Protectant on dash, interior & exterior plastic & door gaskets. Until my new 01 Silverado, my 1990 Mitsubishi Montero sat in the sun at work - the 11+ year old interior still looks new. I put the stuff on maybe 3 times/year - my "indicator message" to do it is when the dust gets so bad I can't see the speedometer.

    Don't know about the leather wheel - its my first one. Maybe the leather seat board?
    (Lexol?).

    also try 303 under the hood on the plastic stuff. At almost 20K the inside of my engine looks like new

    do you still have that link to the windshield wiper blade place. Mine are going bad.

    Do you have those particle blades?

    Anyone know what size they are that are on the trucks (22"?)

    I am in the process of a BBB buyback with GM. I wonder if anyone could direct me to supporting info for the hearing to take place on 9-4-01.

    I have been keeping an eye on the Gm Lemon Center but it's designer seems to have lost interest in keeping it up.

    Any suggestions.

    I've had them on since the last time I posted the link. Working out pretty well. It definitely will outlast those obsolete black rubber ones on the truck. But for $13.00 each they are warranted for 5 years and come in 8 different colors. Actually, could care less how long they last....its the colors that interested me.

    Today spent over an hour finding and fixing a nasty squeak in my 2000. When I pushed on the armrest it would make a most annoying noise. When resting my arm, road bumps would do the same thing. It turned out to be the center door panel hanger which is part of the armrest. If anyone has this problem send me an email for details.

    I tried to put a 90deg metric fitting in one place and it just spun, it would never tighten. I assumed I needed English and put the original back which tightened fine. I haven't tried again.

    RYAN, I am sorry to hear about your incident with the lawn mower. My truck looks great except for the back end. Some A hole last april backed into my back bumper and I ain't gonna pay the 250 deductible to get it replaced. Have several chips, scratches and dings on the back of my tailgate that I think look like crap, but I may have the tailgate totally repainted, but it doesn't help the dings. I guess it is from too much use throwing chains and such in the back.

    Oh well it is a truck.

    Started school again last monday, moved in last saturday, having fun so far, but my 442 Tax accounting class and 322 intermediate accounting classes may have my butt.

    Tim, tried Guiness Friday night, drinkable, but I really prefer bud, miller, the light versions, and a few others alot better. Nice to have for variety.

    PS, what is up with the no traffic on your site RYAN.

    most bud drinkers will say the tap and can are smooth...but don't like the after-taste....(which is ohhh so smooth now)...but bottles would steer away any bud drinker.

    Oh well....Glad ya tried it....more for me though!

    I have gotten bad pints at various bars....one wasn't even using Nitrogen....and the other musta been dirty lines?

    Is the only way to drink Guinness. I have heard it described as having an "earthy" taste similar to mud. hehe

    It was in a bottle, haven't seen it on tap anywhere yet. I will try it again sometime if I can get it on tap. Generally I like tap (in glass not plastic) or bottles, not a fan of cans if I can avoid them. The guinness was pretty strong though. Of course bud light and everything else used to taste awful and a grew to like them ;)

    Extra Stout in a bottle - yummmm!

    If you like Guiness Extra Stout, you might also want to try Negra Modello (Mexican dark ale) if you can find it. Personally, I think it just barely edges out Guiness Extra Stout as best dark ale.

    the cans have the nitrogen tablet (widget) inside to simulate the tap taste.....bottles are good too..once you get used to it.....but for a newbee.....ya gotta try a pub cab or on tap......trust me....they are different worlds all together

    what I meant by relieving constipation like most Mexican beers is more similar to the opposite of constipation which would make it runny. Does that particular beer cause this phenomenon?

    No really, went by the local dealership today and priced a new truck. A have many questions but the most important one of the moment is.....

    With the $1000 cash incentive on the 2001's and the 4.9% financing, can they be used together? Sales guy said no, but if anyone has done this please inform me so I may save some money to buy some beer!! How does $31,000 sound for a fully loaded LS Z71 Ext cab? Bout the only thing it didn't have on it was the fog lights and leather seats. Sticker is $33,185.

    I got my loaded LS (2000, everything but leather) for 27,500 (gm supplier deal). Paid $29,691 after taxes, bedliner, nerf bars.

    I think you could do better in my opinion

    Try another dealer, in NY some are advertising up to $6K off sticker for fully loaded 1/2 ext 4wd... Besides it won't hurt to comparison shop with the other dealers. It may save you a lot of $$.

    For a rule of thumb, I'd expect to get about 10% off the sticker price. With the special promotions even more.

    I agree that there is a better deal so I'll check another dealer. I don't think I'll get the GM supplier deal, no eligible.
    What about the incentives, can they be used together?

    rebate OR the financing incentive but ocassionally both. Usually your best bet is to take all the discounts you can get and finance it through a Credit Union. My CU has better rates than any bank or Dealer, but usually the dealer can find one that they deal with that will match it. If it's special financing through GMAC then the Dealer may have to kick in something and that's why it's usually one or the other and not both.

    Right about now with incentives you can pull $5K or better off sticker in the Denver area for something like that. I paid $27.9 for my Y2K highly optioned Z-71 LS that stickered at $32.8 this time last year and the market wasn't nearly as soft back then. No employee/supplier/GM card/gas tank discounts, either.

    Don't negotiate from sticker price. I get the invoice price from Edmunds, KBB, etc. and go up or down from there. Somewhere around invoice would probably be reasonable now. Then subtract incentives, rebates. I agree on the credit union. On two vehicles bought in '97 and '00 I was at least 1/2 % better than the best financing the dealer could provide. I also got credit life & disability for free. You can get better financing if the manufacturer if they are subsidizing it. Usually they offer a rebate or financing OR rebate. It's usually a better deal to finance throught the credit union and take the rebate. My 2 cents.

    Using another financing source and the GM rebate makes sense. I've never been good at getting the better pricing. I'd have an edge if the money was already there! The 4.9% through GM is pretty good though, maybe my CU will match or beat it.

    Just went to get the Invoice price from this site and there is not an option for Ext cab 4wb 5.3 Short Bed!! It is there for the long bed, what gives?
    From a rough calculation, it seems Invoice is approximately 10% of MSRP. If that is true then obviously working with that number will return the best price.

    Somebody on another forum claimed that the 96mph speed limiter on GM trucks could be bypassed by running the tow/haul mode. Not that I wan't to try it, but does anybody know if this is true. Just curious.

    doesn't change your tires, which is why GM put the speed limiter there in the first place.

    Other day i had my truck buried at 100. Thing ran as smooth as silk.

    I had to get it up that fast because this damn semi was throwing rocks all over and i wanted to pass him asap. Its nice knowing i have the power to pass Took one on the hood (%#@%^@#$&#%) though.

    when you wind it up in low it WILL shift. It will also cut out. I was in a parking lot and wound it up a little farther than I intended to. It got there so quick!

    i took it off

    seemed to clunk in the front end after taking off from a stop sign. Didnt like the noise seemed like it was causing wear.

    Worked well however on the other hand. Just kinda scared me
