I didn't get any financial help from GM. My car was out of powertrain warranty. Mine was an 2005, and the warranty was 36 or 50K miles. Mine had around 54K went it went. I believe yours however had the increased warranty for powertrain to 100K, you should definitley check this out. Figured I would have to pay out of pocket, so I took it to a local place, and not the dealer. However, I probably should have took it to the dealer anyway, as on occasion, they do make execptions and cover the repair. I went to a private garage as I having had many bad experiences at dealers charging double what private places do, I felt stuck , and chose a private garage. Looking back, I with I at least tried the dealer, I could always refuse the work, and have it towed somewhere else. The one other piece of advice I can give you: once the repair is made, get a transmission cooler installed (around $500 or less). The problem with these transmissions is the heat build up, and this is the main culprit. If GM fixes the transmission under warranty, have them, or someone install the cooler afterwards. I think it's an investment well worth it to prevent costly repairs down the road. I've seen this mentioned in other forums on the web as well. I finally sold my car as I was so disgusted with it. My dream car V8, and installed 3 transmissions by 60K miles. It was finally fixed with the trans cooler installed, but I had had enough. Also, with these cars, get ceramic brake pads installed. The factory brakes pads are crap, and when they start to squeel, you will get around 40 miles before it's metal to metal, and have to buy rotors as well. My brakes went at 15K miles! Replaced under warranty, then I went to a shop to immediately change the pads to ceramic, no problems again with this issue.
I apologize for the problems you are experiencing with your transmission. Were you planning on taking the vehicle to your local GM dealership to be diagnosed? Please keep me posted on any information.
If you are going to keep the car, spend a little more if you havn't already, and have a transmission cooler installed, this is the main problem, overheating, and that leads to failure. Take if from me, I put 3 transmissions in my 2005 GXP. I finally decided to dump the car at Carmax for hardy any money, but had to stop the bleeding. Definitley a problem with GM cars that use this transmission. My wife had a 2005 Buick LeSabre, same transmission, and blew also. I have never had transmission problems in the 6 previous GM cars, until these. Now I drive Toyota's.
06grandprixgxp, I apologize for your frustrations. Please keep me updated on your situation. GM dealers have a parts and labor warranty I would recommend inquiring about. Christina GM Customer Service
So I took my 2006 GXP to the dealer because while I was idleing on a hill, my "Service Stability System" light came on the DIC followed by "Reduced Engine Power". They said I needed my gas pedal replaced because the sensor was bad...$$$. Problem stopped but has now returned 2 months later after having my battery replaced. Of course they can't get me in until Monday and it's Friday morning. Service guy said, well we "thought" we fixed it. Under 54,000 miles, this is a bit rediculous. Never had problems so early on with Ford vehicles. Sigh....at a loss for words here.....
Did I forget to mention that when it rains it pours INSIDE my car? Sorry for the ommision. But if this happens regularly (per the servcie guy at GM) why isnt something being done to prevent it. Best Car/Worst Car ever syndrome
I apologize for the problems you are experiencing with your vehicle. Please keep me posted when the issue has been taken care of. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me directly.
I doubt if the current GM management will be concerned with any car built before the Govt takeover which has serious issues..It's a walk through the park and we feel your pain, however, please keep us posted...
I have a 2006 S/C V-6 GPGT which required new mounts for the tranny and motor, under 60k miles..The original mounts were completely collapsed allowing the entire motor/tranny to rotate freely, banging against the frame.
I remember that Chev back in the 60s or 70s was involved in defective mounts and the factory fix was the installation of a cable from engine to the frame in cause the mounts sheared..
Having owned 53 cars to date, I find the W-body GM is a challenge..My mechanic knew exactly what the problem was and $364 later it was fixed.. I should have picked up the old mounts and got in touch with the supplier..I know of a Goodyear plant in Ohio that supplies rubber mounts to Ford, however I overlooked the situation and mounts were trashed..
Gosh. I cannot believe all the complaints. I bought my GXP new from Freedom Buick/GMC in Odessa TX. I cannot say enough good things about the dealership. That said. The only warranty issue to date - replaced the headsup display. My warranty coverage is with GEICO. They paid the repair less my $250 deductible. Had the power steering hoses checked per the recall. The dealer replaced both hoses, just in case. Replaced the battery last year. I'm in my 5th year of ownership.
I strongly recommend the AC/Delco Ceramic DuraStop brake pads. I replaced the front rotors added those brake pads on all 4 positions and stopped the ugly brake dust issue immediately.
Upgrades include K&N Series 63 intake system, Magnaflow polished stainless steel cat back exhaust system. Lloyd's floor mats and trunk mat. Piano black interior trim upgrade. My GXP is detailed twice yearly including underhood. I follow recommended service directives and use synthetic oil and K&N oil filters. Also the a/c filter is K&N. I've used the same lube center now 16 years. Had one 4 wheel alinement - no odd tire wear issues at all. Installed LED taillights and am preparing to replace the front lights with projector beam units.
Hated the OEM Bridgestone's. Replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1 A/S and didn't find them satisfactory - poor tread wear on the front tires. I have a new complete set of Michelin Super Sports on order through Discount Tire. I'm using 265/40-18 fronts and 225/50-18 rears. I only use Discount Tire.
Through the years my family including myself owned/own 5 different Pontiac's. In not one case were any service problems experienced.
The ultra suede drivers seat is becoming discolored from use - I have no idea how to clean that suede. I have the sand colored leather interior with the ivory exterior.
I'm concerned so many continue to experience transmission issues. For the gentleman with the water leaks - get your vehicle into a trusted glass replacement service - they should be able to solve your water leak issue.
I thoroughly enjoy my GXP. BMW 3 series and 6 cylinder 5 series are fair game. LOL. Those drivers don't realize what they've decided to play with.
Nice to see a post that isn't a complaint! I love my GXP too! This is my third Grand Prix and I too even had to have the transmission rebuilt (got a deal at $2200). Not bad for 130k miles I guess....considering the apparent known compatibility issue with this transmission and motor(or so I've read). However, here it is less than a week later and now I am getting messages to service the stability system....wtf?! I don't know alot about this and heard it may have something to do with what was done, or not done, when the transmission was rebuilt. Any advise is appreciated.
shennica, I would recommend starting with the dealer that performed the repair. Please feel free to email me with your VIN and description of your experience, updates from the dealer, and concerns. I look forward to hearing from you! Christina GM Customer Service
Hi all we have a 2004 GTP that we bought brand new and it has been a great car. We have had only a few minor issues, one was the blower connection came loose and the car would frost up intermittently. I disconnected it and then reconnected and we were good to go. The HUD system failed recently but we don't really care. We also had a leak in the power steering rack and had the rack replaced which was the most expensive repair to date. We have over 200 k on the odomoter and ours still runs great. I have used only dinosaur oil and we use regular gas and 91 every second or third fill up. We would highly reccomend this car to anyone interested. It is fast and awesome on fuel, which was an unexpected surprise, and this car is fun to drive!
I had the same problem with my 05 GXP, if yours is raining into the center dome light right at the windshield than you need to check the antenna which is rite above that dome light on the outside, its rite on the curve of the top and the rubber base is not molded to fit that curve so water runs rite into it down into your light. i took my dome light fixture out to access the antenna mount and added a bracket that would pull the rear of the antenna down so the rubber would seal to the body.
I BOUGHT THIS CAR IN 2008 USED WITH 21,000 MILES ON IT. A SUPER SUPER CLEAN CAR WITH THE 5.3 MOTOR. IN NOVEMBER OF 2011 MY 2006 G/P GXP WITH UNDER 30,000 MILES. RIGHT STRUT AND BOTH TIE ROD ENDS WERE SHOT. I HAD BOTH STRUTS REPLACED AND TIE ROD ENDS REPLACED. DEALER SAID NO WAY ON ANY WARRENTY. GOOD THING I HAVE A FRIEND THAT WORKS AT A DEALERSHIP. HE TOOK CARE OF ME. THEN MY HEADS UP DISPLAY WENT OUT. AGAIN MY FRIEND FIXED THE UNIT WITHOUT HAVING TO BUY A NEW ONE. I ALSO HAVE A 1993 GRAND PRIX SE THAT I BOUGHT NEW. I HAVE 200,000 MILES ON THIS CAR AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT AT ALL. I LIVE IN MARYLAND, I WOULD JUMP IN IT AND GO ANYWHERE IN THE US WITHOUT THINKING TWICE RIGHT NOW. DON'T KNOW IF I COULD DO THAT WITH MY GXP. I AM A PONTIAC GUY I HAVE A 1965 AND 66 GTO AND A 1965 CATALINA 2+2 421 TRI POWER CAR. THESE CARS ARE GREAT. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE GREAT DAYS OF THE PONTIAC ?????
I bought my '08 GXP, used, with 42000 miles on it. Shortly thereafter starting hearing rear clucking noises, ended up with new rear struts. Dealer got it under warranty for me. Then this year at 62000 miles, started to experience hesitation and chugging with acceleration. I told the dealer it needed a new tranny, but they told me to bring it back when it did it more consistently. Ended up stranded one morning when it lost power altogether. The car got a new tranny and radiator under warranty for Xmas this year. So 2 major repairs on the vehicle in the 20,000 miles I have owned it. Lots of other minor issues like sensors going, dummy lights coming on for no reason, trouble finding decent tires for it once Eagle stopped making those sizes. This is my 3rd Grand Prix. My 1997 GT was somewhat problematic, my 2002 GTP was PERFECT - not even any noises to annoy you. Despite my issues I would absolutely have bought another GXP had Pontiac been able to continue. I drove the G8 - not impressed at all. My GXP kicks a G8's rear! It feels just like I am driving my old 1992 Trans Am. The thrill I get every time I drive the GXP makes all the hassle of repairs and time spent at the dealer well worth it. It pays to have a reliable, trustworthy GM dealer to take it to, like I do. Chances are, with this vehicle, you are going to need it!
FastCarGal, do you self a favor. Spend a little more money and have a Transmission Cooler installed. The problem with these transmissions is that they get too hot, and blow up the torque converter, then all those pieces go all through the transmission gears. It will cost around $300-$400 to get one installed. If you don't do this, I can almost promise your transmission will blow out again, when out of warranty, it will cost about $2500-$3000 to rebuild it. I went through 3 tramsmissions before finding the real problem. Google this issue, you will find out this is the real problem, heat.
I'm glad to hear that your previous concerns were resolved to your satisfaction, and that you're completely loving your GXP! If we can assist in the future, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
SARAH= FROM GM CUSTOMER SERVICE. WHY YOU HAVE NOT POSTED ANYTHING ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS? (I AM A GM RETIREE.) DO ANY OF THE GXPS HAVE ANY RECALLS THAT WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT? THANKS
As recall coverage is associated to a vehicle's VIN, we ask that anybody inquiring about recalls send us the last 8 digits of the VIN in an email. This way we can look on a particular vehicle. Sometimes, per VIN parameters, vehicles will not be included in a recall based on when/where they were built or where they may have been sold, among other factors.
We look forward to hearing from you, Sarah GM Customer Service
We have a 2006 GrandPrix, the power steering pump was replaced and works fine but now we have small leak or power steering fluid. I have read about recall #09132; as I bought this car used I did not recieve the letter. Any thoughts on the repair cost??
Having issues with mt 04 GP GT shifting hard once the car heats up or doing extended city driving. Doesn't do it all the time. I changed the fluid and filter and problem still exist.
If we can look to see if your vehicle has this recall open on it, we'd be happy to do so. Please email us the last 8 digits of your VIN and we'll check! Sarah GM Customer Service
Transmission was stuttering and shifting back and forth as soon as it reached 3rd gear. Two different shops diagnosed failure - needs to be replaced or rebuilt. Very disappointing for a car with 78,000 miles! Another recent problem was the front right tire kept going flat. It turns out it was a hairline crack in the aluminium wheel. $500 to replace. Might as well mention another issue I've seen posted here- the heads up display doesn't work any more. Those things are annoying but the transmission is a killer!
Jacklarue2002, Be sure to take it to a GM Dealer first, they may cover it, if not, get a quote there, and a quote at a reliable transmission shop, mine cost $2700. And trust me on this, get a transmission cooler installed as this is the main problem for these failures, high heat blows up the torque conveter, and all those parts blow through all the tranny gears. If you don't, you will have a failure again. The wheel may be covered under warranty as this crack is a serious safety issue. The heads-up display, common problem my just be a spring, it is probably still working, you just can't see it. If you look down through the windshield, down into the HUD, if you see a spring that was attached, but is not, the nub it attaches to broke off, you need to disassemble, drill a small hole to re-attach the spring. Instructions for this are at http://www.atthetipwebs.com/technologyinstructions/hud.htm, just don't let the dealer talk you into buying a whole new HUD, if you can't do the repair, you can probably find a shop to do it, print the instructions, and take with you.
I'm sorry to read about your GXP's transmission going out (as well as the crack in the wheel and failure of the HUD)! Were either of the shops one of our GM dealerships? I only ask because I want to offer my assistance in any way I can.
What temperature should the transmission run at? As my 2006 Grand Prix GXP has a transmission temperature read out display? I think all the Pontiac GXP have the trans. temp. read out display. If we know what the temperatue of the transmission should be we may be able to determine if we need a trans. cooleror not.
allponitac... Yes, mine also had a transmission temp gauge. Although the temp is OK on the gauge, it can get too hot for the torque converter inside the transmission, even though the temp gauge is still within safe range. With the tranny cooler, it will ensure the temp stays at a low enough temp for the torque converter, especially during some spirited driving. The temp is the problem with these cars, google it. The tranny is fine until the heat gets too high for the torque converter, when that happens, the torque converter blows up/falls apart, sending all those parts through all the gears in your tranny; now your entire tranny/gears need to be re-built. Price tag $2500-$2800 for a rebuild back to factory specs. All I'm saying, after 3 blown trannys, the root of the problem has been discovered, and after paying out about $4000 for all 3 rebuilt tranny's. Now the shop installed the cooler for free for me after all my trouble, I wish I had known, and would have spent the money up front to prevent this. Even though it was 'fixed' finally. I couldn't wait to unload this money pit of a car. My 1999 Grand Prix GTP was a great car, but this 2005 Grand Prix GXP was trouble from day one. At 12000 miles the front brakes went from the 'replace brakes' squeek indicators to grinding metal to metal within a 30 drive back home. Rotors were blown. AFter the usual Me and GM arguement, these were replaced for free. 3 blown transmissions, not under warranty. Battery arc'd, and melted the battery cables; another $700 for that. Tires were out very quickly ($1200 to replace). I drive Toyota's for the time being, had enough of GM for a while. Not just because of this one car. We also had a 2005 Buick LaSabre, and that tranny went out at 80,000; just ridiculous. That was under the warranty I had, and that was a regular V6 engine, not a V8 like the GXP. Since I must have a mid-sized car, I can't risk my wallet these days on another transmission from GM whose mid-size all use the same tranny. I try to think of how many hours I must work to pay for all these things, and I'm just not going to do it anymore. I don't mind repairs, but when things go bad, that should not, or go bad way too early, I get mad. Yes I'm bitter at GM, they just don't care it seems. I would love to buy a Volt, but just can't make that commitment.
I just had my transmission replaced too and read about installing a transmission cooler but I'm having trouble finding one. Can you direct me to where you bought yours please? Thanks!
melwang.... my transmission shop installed it for me, have no idea where he got it, but you may want to call and ask him. Call Wayne, at Gene's Transmission in Norfolk, VA. To remind him, tell him he installed it at no-charge on a previous customer (me), for a 2005 Maroon (Dark Cherry Metallic) V8 GXP Grand Prix, this car was a nightmare trying to figure out the problem, he rebuilt it 3 times due to torque converter blowing up, he even had the last torque converter custom built, I'm sure he will remember the car at least. http://www.genestransmissions.com/ ask for Wayne. When you find out, post it here for others.
This is my first post since May of '06 on the above named vehicle I bought brand new in 2006.Today (5/13/2012) I still have the car (but not much longer) it has 68,400 miles on it and let me tell you this IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE WORST CAR PRODUCED BY GM......EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! From the whole burning of the oil starting at 25k miles to a new exhaust (aftermarket not OEM,cuz I refuse to give GM any more of my money)new battery, new headlight bulbs 3x on the passenger side to a slipping tranny ALL BEFORE 50K miles....Throughout it's life so far I never really pounded it,only on occasion, but let me tell you how my dealer treated me when I brought it in for the burning of the oil situation---Brought it in around 26k miles in 2008,told the dealer I have 78% oil life left and the low oil light just came on,service tech says ok we will give you a fresh oil change and you come back after driving 1000 miles and we go from there...well upon completing the 1000 trek the car was down 1/2 quart so dealer says come back after another 1000 miles...upon returning at the 2000 mile mark it's down 2quarts....dealer says "ohh we gotta get her in here and see whats goin on".....They changed the valve seals, which didn't fix the problem, fast forward too35k miles and one month left on the warranty and I call the dealer up and tell them it's still burning oil and im almost out of the warranty, and this is the response I got: The service tech tells me (prior to this not to pay attention to the 5,000 mile marker to change your oil,do it at 3,000,and I said "Dude my low oil light is on at 1,400 miles after a fresh change,I wont have any oil left in the motor at 3,000 miles") that "GM is aware of the problem but they don't know how to fix it,so my hands are tied" WOW!!!! First Im gonna guess that GM engineers who design and build these motors get paid upwards of a six figure salary and they DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX AN ENGINE THAT'S USING MORE OIL THAN THE BP OIL WELLS IN THE GULF??? Second,as a customer I would think that if the service tech gave a [non-permissible content removed] about me and my car HE would call me to see how the car is doing because thats what CSR'S do.Well I told the service tech what if GM figures out how to fix the problem at,say 40k miles when i'm out of a warranty and he says "We will work something out" and I said "No we wont work something out,you will fix my car UNDER WARRANTY because all this [non-permissible content removed] started while it was under warranty"----Well I never went back to the dealer because this service tech had such a bad attitude I said screw it and continued to drive the car,and now that it's paid off,it's hitting the road!!! My first brand new car and all I got was a runaround from the service tech guy (And for those wondering why I didn't go over the service techs head is because I shouldnt have to,Im pretty confident he would have been fired)Any way I know there are '06 owners out there who are experiencing the same "junk" with there car as I did with mine, but now I have decided,I'm going Japanese, most likely a Nissan Maxima...so we will see what that's like. Thanks to all who have read this post and know what i'm squaking about because GM cars are junk!!! :lemon: :lemon: :lemon:
I'm sorry to read that your visit in 2008 was not a satisfactory experience for you, gxpjoey, and that your Grand Prix has had some difficulties along the way. I understand that you are not interested in working with your dealership at this point, and wish you the best. If you should change your mind, please let us know if we can look into anything further for you. Best, Sarah GM Customer Service
Sarah OMG,you should be the CEO of GM!!!! Why couldn't you have been my service tech????Polite, understanding and know what i'm up against.I may be flawed with being an impatient person when it comes to getting stuff fixed and fixed right, but my gripe was ,and still is legitimate.I'm not one to chronically complain, perhaps i'm too passive when it comes to this whole car thing with my 2006 GXP,but I will say this,Sarah you are a godsend of a person to not just reply to me in less than 24 hours, but to even take the time to reply at all.You are TRULY a customers dream come true....Customer service and fairness is,and will always be #1 in my book!!! Thanks for the reply Sarah,I guess if I only would have wrote that letter on this forum back in 2008 things might be different, but It's time for me to move on to something different.(Incidently I do own a 1957 Cadillac given to me as a HS graduation gift from my parents, and with all the upkeep with that GM product I will say this, those GM employees who built that car HAD A WORK ETHIC!!! Todays workers, and not just in the auto industry but in many industries across America just don't give a crap, that's why the Hondas and Toyotas are outselling US!!!----Sarah By all means I am not screaming at you, because like I said you actually took the time to type me a response and you sounded genuine in your remarks, for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!
My transmission got up to 213 degrees yesterday and slipped several times. It is under warranty until June. The dealer keeps telling me they cannot get it to act up. What should I do?
Document, document, document. You need to get them inside the car, with the transmission computer hooked up, and go for a long hard ride to get the heat up, get a 1/2 hour or more of highway driving in to get things started then get mechanic w/computer, accelerate up hills, jack rabbit starts etc. Make them stick with you to get the slips documented on paper. It's your only hope, do not wait. When fixed, get a tranny cooler installed.l... trust me. REad my other posts! Google Search, look at GM Inside News.com, read my posts. "2005 pontiac Grand prix Junk car, Goodbye GM".
One thing I've noticed about service statons etc. If you drive a high horse powered car, they automatically assume you beat on it. Well, if it's high horsepower, it should be able to take it. Also, I took good care of mine, pushed it now and then; but with that said, the tranny should not blow up 3 times. The last time, I baby'd that car, and it still blew up.
The GXP was produced during the time that GM was running out of money and went to the parts bin in trying to put together a performance car without spending any large amounts of money..They found a truck V-8 engine and probably adapted the V-6 S/C tranny, big wheels along with some tricky suspension items..Big name like "Bilstein" really enhanced the issue, WOW.
Take the Chevy Impala SS, same treatment, only no big names, went to the parts bin and used in-house items and used 4 wheels of the same size, whereas Pontiac came up with the crazy idea with "jumbo tires" in the front and smaller tires in the rear..Not too many FWD race cars???
Pontiac was a decent performer however the Chevy really didn't pass the muster for handling, horrendous amounts of torque steer and decent 0-60, good top end, but no big deal..If a tranny blows out of warranty, I don't see why anyone would get upset..Neither the GXP or the SS are sought after cars..I would go for the Chevy SS under 20k miles sitting used car lot at a Buick dealer..Got one spotted, way overpriced, but will shoot them a price and see what happens..
Owned too many cars in my life, 90% brand new, and it's more fun chasing used cars for there is usually a trail of maladies or problems that will hit the internet..
My current ride was bought almost 5 yrs ago w/4300 miles showing, 1/2 original MSRP paid, and now showing around 70k..2006 GPGT, few problems, smooth runner at all speeds..I could make mechanical trash out of it in short time but I have always found that high-speed cruising doesn't hurt the running gear, it's the jack-rabbit starts and quick acceleration in general..
I assume your oil consumption was brought to the dealers attention while in warranty??? Get rid of the Mobil oil and try Pennzoil, I had a similar problem on the "Shortstar" V-6 Olds engines used in the 1999-2002 Intrigues and Auroras.. Had GM buyback my 1998 Intrigue @26k miles based on steering and brake issues..
I'm sorry that you are having difficulties getting this resolved with your dealership at the moment; if we can look into this further for you, please send the following information to socialmedia@gm.com: your name and Edmunds username, phone and address, the last 8 digits of your VIN and current mileage, and the name of your involved dealership along with any appointment details (date, money paid, etc) you can recall.
Do what i'm gonna do........DUMP THAT OIL BURNIN,TRANNY SLIPPIN,NEW BATTERY,3 HEADLIGHTS,NEW EXHAUST, OVERPRICED ROTORS AND PADS TWICE ALL BEFORE 50K AND DUMP GM!!!!! More BS with my 2006 GXP than you could shake a stick at,only 68k miles....goin Japanese!!! Read my long post about what I went through from 2008 til today pretty sad I would say.... :lemon:
Just started having issues with our transmission in slipping on our 06 grand prix with 87,000 miles. Do we know for certain if a tranny cooler will stop the slipping, or is there another option? We want to fix it before it gets any worse. HELP!
You need to consult a tranny shop. I know the cooler will save the torque converter from blowing up. When it's slipping, I don't know if the temperature is causing this slippage, or the torque conveter has already begun to break down, and causing the slippage. So adding a cooler may either slow the torque converter from breaking down, or solve the slippage issue. I would call a local Tranny shop and tell them about what you know so far, and just see what they say.
This thursday I have an appt, I have already talked with them on whats going on and they are stumped. From what I have gathered on this blog I will relay to them to see what we can do, and with no warranty I think its going to hit the pocket book hard and thats if we can afford it at this time. Thanks
Update we had the our transmission rebuilt for a around $3500.00 runs a lot better. 1 year warranty, and or 12,000 miles we are hoping to sell need more room. For Sale 2006 grand prix 88,000 miles $8,000.00 you can have a nice ride.
I have 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix with 141,000 miles on it. When I take off it hesitates to switch in to gear and makes a thud. I have taken it to the dealership several times and no issue was found. The issue started around 90,000 miles and has gotten worse. I have completed the fuel service and transmission service twice to rectify the issue and it never fixes it. I have been told by the dealership that there isn't an issue with the transmission. If the car is parked for several days the issue stops for a day. There are no codes coming up. I am at my wits end with this issue. In addition, when trying to accelerate in traffic the car hesitates. It acts like the transmission isn't able to switch gears. I no longer feel safe driving my car and I'm seriously thinking of trading it for something else.

I apologize for the problems you are experiencing with your transmission. Were you planning on taking the vehicle to your local GM dealership to be diagnosed? Please keep me posted on any information.
Thank you,
Caron, GM Customer Service
I apologize for your frustrations. Please keep me updated on your situation. GM dealers have a parts and labor warranty I would recommend inquiring about.

I would recommend starting with the dealer that performed the repair. Please feel free to email me with your VIN and description of your experience, updates from the dealer, and concerns. I look forward to hearing from you!

I have read about recall #09132; as I bought this car used I did not recieve the letter.
Any thoughts on the repair cost??

Another recent problem was the front right tire kept going flat. It turns out it was a hairline crack in the aluminium wheel. $500 to replace. Might as well mention another issue I've seen posted here- the heads up display doesn't work any more. Those things are annoying but the transmission is a killer!
I'm sorry to read about your GXP's transmission going out (as well as the crack in the wheel and failure of the HUD)! Were either of the shops one of our GM dealerships? I only ask because I want to offer my assistance in any way I can.

Thanks in advance!
Good Luck...
