Has anyone ever used another bank to obtain lease financing? Right now the best money factor I'm getting is .00130 which is 3.12% APR. It seems like the current APR for auto loans is 2.40% or lower, so I should be able to get a money factor of .00100. I've pushed back on the dealer to see if they would honor a lower money factor, haven't heard back yet. Anyone have luck with something like this?
The base money factor from BMWFS is .00130. You can't go lower than that with them.
You could shop for a lease with an independent bank, but it isn't likely to be any cheaper, overall, than the BMWFS lease. Independents might have lower money factors, but generally have higher fees, and aren't as forgiving at lease end.
If the dealer could get a lower payment with an independent, they would use them.. but, it rarely happens with any make, and I've never heard of a BMW dealer using an independent.

And, yes... all of the numbers are the same for that model, no matter what the option list (though the monthly price will be higher, of course).
Thanks, that's good to know, and I really appreciate your help! I assume I can use 7 MSDs to reduce the MF to 0.00081? This is my math, is it correct? Selling price is something I found via TrueCar that I plan to use as a starting point.

Ok, so looks like I'm getting a lease with the following:
15,000 Miles / Years
.60 Residual Rate
.00125 Money Factor
MSRP: $58,600
Final Sales Price: $55,438 (includes bank acquisition fee), the sales price of vehicle before taxes, tags, fees etc. was $52,425)
What are everyone's thoughts? Want to make sure I'm getting a good deal before signing. Thanks.
Are you sure this is through BMWFS? The base MF on any model 2014 3-series is .00130 and for 2015 3-series it's .00133. While the dealer can mark up the MF, they cannot go lower than the base rate, unless you make multiple security deposits - each one lowers the MF by .00007.

Great question, I don't know. Another dealer was willing to compete and provide that money factor, my local dealer said they would match it. It was the final negotiating point and extra miles is being given to me at .15 opposed to .20 which was their original offer. If everything I mentioned in my last post is valid including the extra miles, is this a good deal?

What extra miles? Your original post stated 15K per year, which is the standard for BMW leases for residual value. Fewer miles results in a higher residual value, while more miles are charged a fixed amount and added to the net cap cost.

The base acquisition fee is $725, so the dealer is marking that up on you. You are getting the base MF, however, as the max MSDs bring that down to the .00081 you've referenced. Looks like a solid selling price.

MF is .00130 for both.
Residual is 59% for 15K, 61% for 12k - both models.
The CA is arguing that since he's giving me a deal on the selling price he can't go as low as the .00130 MF I originally asked for as seen quoted on this forum.
Does this seem reasonable? At the moment I'm trying to figure out his math as my calcs (using bank rate and 8.75% santa clara tax) come to $554 monthly.

I get the same payment that you do.... but, add in $925 for a (marked up) acquisition fee, and you'll be right on his payment.
You are getting about 7% off MSRP, before deducting the $2250 in incentives. That seems like a fair price, without any further markups.. If you add $725 on to the cap cost for the base acq.fee, and use .00081 for the money factor, you'll come in at $505+tax, or about $549/mo. Upfront: CA registration, 1st payment, $80 doc fee, $3850 MSDs (about $5000-$5100).
So.. a couple of other things... If he isn't adding the acquisition fee into the CAP cost, and he expects you to pay it upfront, then he is hiding another $1000 somewhere. And, finally, I show the residual for 36mo, 12K/yr to be 61%, not 62%. Make sure he isn't writing your lease as 10K/yr

Great stuff, thanks for the reply. My sales guy sent me something he calls "full disclosure" and it looks like a $925 acquisition fee is rolled into the cap cost. His previous emails didn't mention another acquisition fee up front just reg. fees of $554. Is it normal to apply the acquisition fee in this way?
Residual is listed as 60% and I can see a 2% "bump" which is interesting. Definitely says 12,000 allowed miles.
Yes, rolling the acquisition fee into the CAP cost is normal. He is marking up the base fee by $200, though. And... the residual is correct. I missed the part about it being a wagon. Just $2000 in incentives on the wagon, not $2250, as well.
As I mentioned, the price is fair.. Those markups, not so much.. especially the money factor. The money factor bump adds about $27/mo. to the payment

Well you can't always get everything :-). I asked for the act fee up front which he did, but he didn't budge on the MF. Considering it's such a good purchase price for the spec, I took the deal.
I am inquiring Internet sales department by emails. I am not satisfied with the selling price, but the salesman says this is the lowest he can offer. However, 2,425 off MSRP doesn't look like a reasonable price to me. How much more do you guys think I should negotiate to cut down?

The dealer is quoting the base MF and isn't marking up the acq fee, so that's a plus. Use the shopping tools at the top of the page to help with pricing.
Actually the dealer marked up the acq fee to 925 and I asked for $725. With the $38,210 selling price, the dealer gave me the calculated monthly pay of $1,000 down and $445 plus tax per month. This doesn't look right to me. It seems they didn't include the acq fee 925 into the selling price. I calculated it myself. It's 404 before tax assuming acq fee is included. Is it some kind of trick played by CA?
This dealer has $400 MACO fee and $180 training fee.

I think your calculations are off... I get $422/mo. without adding acq.fee, and $443/mo, once I add in the $725. I'm assuming the $1000 is money due at signing, and not a CAP cost reduction, though.. (1st payment, license, doc fee).
Thanks kyfdx. You are right. I didn't calculate the interests correctly.

Edmunds is the best resource I have come across. Was able to negotiate this deal for my buddy thanks to the information here. kfydx will appreciate your input on this deal.
Car spec: 328i Sport Line with lighting package, technology package, driver assistance package and "sport transmission" with paddle shifters.
MSRP: $47275
Negotiated selling price: $41500
Lease Term: 3 years/ 30k miles
Residual: 61%
MF: 0.0013
Acquisition Fee: $725
Documentation Fee: $80
Only caveat I could find is that the dealer insists that we pay the acquisition fee, documentation fee and the first month payment as drive off.
Also the dealer is also trying to push a BMW lease protection program which covers an umbrella of $5k worth charges. Price quoted for this was $2k. As I have personally never leased a car, I was not sure about what to advise my friend. Any inputs?

I'm not sure why the dealer is insistent on the acquisition fee upfront, but that's a minor issue. I've turned in two BMW leases, and had zero charges on either (plus, Hondas, Subarus, etc, etc.).. Plus, you have to have $2000 in charges, just to break even.. I'm guessing the markup on that plan is huge. Just pass on that

Thanks kyfdx. How about the selling price? Do you think there is any more room to negotiate there or is the deal fairly good by itself?
Acq Fee: 785 (for some reason dealer claimed 725 is incorrect on BMW website, whatever!)
Net Cap Cost: 38245
MF after 7 MSD: .00081
Term: 3 years, 10 K miles
Residual (64%): 26000
Base Monthly Payment: 392.16
Tax (9.8%): 38.43
Total Monthly Payment: 430.59
Amount Due on Signing: 3879.09 (includes 3150 for MSD + 1st month payment + license + doc fee)
Can the experts here take a look and see if all matches up?
Could have worked a little bit more on the selling price, but I wanted to get this done before my next payment kicked in for my current BMW lease, which I was returning as a pull-ahead, so wanted to avoid that.
Also I was told that the pull-ahead program is probably ending June 2. Is that true?

That's a 328d xDrive wagon, right? And, you are paying the acquisition fee upfront? Then, the numbers are accurate. SC tax is only $300?
There are $2000 in incentives on that car.. If I'm haggling, I'm looking for another $1000-$1500 off. Taking out the incentives, you are about $1200 over invoice...
$64K, huh? Good thing you are leasing it... you would killed on depreciation if you bought it..
I doubt I'll fully load one as I wanted worse case scenario on the payment. Hope to build closer to something around 58k MSRP. Few cars are on the lot full spec. If I did order at this point it would be for a '15 more than likely.
Received a quote on '15 X3d and lease numbers not near as good as the 328. 56% residual
Can the experts chime in and review this offer? I know that the Acquisition fee is marked up from $725.00. What about the doc fee? What aspect of the offer should I negotiate with the dealer?

Many thanks!
There is a $1250 incentive on the 2014 335i, so that makes the discount $3750. That puts it right around invoice, which is pretty good. As you noted, the acq.fee is marked up by $200 and you have a $600 doc fee.. In my experience, it's easier to ask them to reduce the price to account for those fees, that it is to get them to lower or remove them. ("it's the law, we have to charge them.. yada, yada, yada"). But, even with the extra $800, it's not a bad price..
The bad news? When I do the calculations, with the acq.fee added to the selling price, I get a payment that is $100/mo. lower... almost exactly ($564.17). Are you sure that monthly payment doesn't include the massive GA sales tax? Or, maybe a typo?
Yeah, saw that. Had I been closer to year's end, I probably would have waited and saved $1,000 or so. I think it's even worse if person leasing lives within city of Chicago.
Hi,
I am trying see how much would be a 335i Lease.
I got a quote of a 335i with M sport and Nav - MSRP $ 55,625 with sale price of $50,000 + $995 Cilajet(?)
Dealer quoted me $599 w/ 2k down on 36 month without any other details.
Can I get what is MF for June and 36k/27k & residual on those for California please.
Also is it possible to get this car for $475/month w/ taxes (8%)?
I was reading adding MSDS(what ever that is, no clue) would reduce the payment.
Basically what numbers do I need to get to $475/month - maybe I can negotiate.
PS: really would like to spend no more than $4k - either down or for MSDS.
Please HELP first time Leasing...
Last thing may i get a link to a good Lease calculator?
Thank you.

.00130 MF and 62% residual for 36mo, 12K/yr lease. $1250 option credit cash. BMW doesn't really offer a great 27 month plan.
It's hard to negotiate a lease if the dealer isn't forthcoming with the details of their quote. The selling price of $50K would be pretty good for this model, but what is Cilajet? That's pretty important, considering they want $995 for it.
With an MSRP of $55,625 and a selling price of $50,000 + $725 acquisition fee, .00130 MF and 62% residual, the monthly payment would be $562/mo.+tax. To get to $475/mo, including 8% tax, you would need to make a $4200 cap cost reduction. Total due at signing with 1st payment, title/license fees and tax on the cap reduction would be about $5500.
$475/mo. for a $55K+ car is pretty hard to do.. You could save some money by trimming your option list..
Thank you for the quick reply.
My car options was M sport and nav, the problem is that its hard to find white on beige interior with those options. So far only one i found. I will try to talk to the dealer and see what deal I can get. My wife gave me green light as long as its no more than $500 so I really hope I can get $475. Thank you again.

What do you think?
Yes, rolling the acquisition fee into the CAP cost is normal. He is marking up the base fee by $200, though. And... the residual is correct. I missed the part about it being a wagon. Just $2000 in incentives on the wagon, not $2250, as well.
As I mentioned, the price is fair.. Those markups, not so much.. especially the money factor. The money factor bump adds about $27/mo. to the payment

Well you can't always get everything :-). I asked for the act fee up front which he did, but he didn't budge on the MF. Considering it's such a good purchase price for the spec, I took the deal.
Thanks for your help!
This is an awesome thread! Thanks everybody!
I am considering leasing a 2014 320i. Here are the numbers:
MSRP: $40625
Lease term: 3yrs/30k
Residual 64%
MF .00130
Selling price $38,210 (500 incentives included)
License $200
Doc Fee $152.50
Acquisition Fee $725
I am inquiring Internet sales department by emails. I am not satisfied with the selling price, but the salesman says this is the lowest he can offer. However, 2,425 off MSRP doesn't look like a reasonable price to me. How much more do you guys think I should negotiate to cut down?
Thanks!

Looks good... you are about 9% off MSRP, minus the $1500 incentive.. You can always try for lower...

I finalized this deal for 2014 320i:
Can the experts here take a look and see if all matches up?
Could have worked a little bit more on the selling price, but I wanted to get this done before my next payment kicked in for my current BMW lease, which I was returning as a pull-ahead, so wanted to avoid that.
Also I was told that the pull-ahead program is probably ending June 2. Is that true?
Thanks in advance for all the help!
Opinions needed / can I haggle for more and if so at what line item
many thanks.

Heh! my calculation was also off by .02 (on the higher side), so I took their deal
$64K, huh? Good thing you are leasing it... you would killed on depreciation if you bought it..

kyfdx. Thanks for the review
Acquisition fee paid up front, yes
Hi, can you please take a look at my deal I received Friday evening? This car will be registered in GA (initial taxes rolled in).
335i 36m/12k
MSRP: $54,950.00
Sell Price: $49,500.00
MF: .0013
Residual: .62
Doc Fee: $599.00
Acq Fee: $925.00
License: $20.00
Due at signing: $1,359.63
Monthly pmt: $664.24 (w/o tax)

Good morning kyfdx, sorry about that - the monthly payment does include the GA ad valorem tax. Should I bite for this deal? Thanks as always!
If the total tax is around $100/mo., then it's a fair deal.. (those full tax states just kill me, though).

Just struck this deal today:
2014 320i xdrive
MSRP: 37,225
Sale price: 34,500
Residual: 23824
MF: .00013
Acquisition fee: 725
Cook County, IL taxes: 2877
No money down, no MSD
OTD cash: 722
3/30 lease
501 monthly
How did I do?
Base MF and acquisition fee. The upfront taxes on the entire purchase price kill you in Illinois. Looks to be a solid deal.

Hey - please let us know about June offers whenever you get them and how they are relative to May. Thanks so much!
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, taxes in IL a killer. Well, at least it pays for good, honest government. Oh, wait....
You should know that IL just passed legislation to change the tax structure on leases. However, it doesn't go into effect until 1/1/15.

My car options was M sport and nav, the problem is that its hard to find white on beige interior with those options. So far only one i found. I will try to talk to the dealer and see what deal I can get. My wife gave me green light
Hello, what is the June MF and RV for a 2014 328i xdrive and a 428i xdrive for 10k/36months?
