If parties go to arbitration, then whatever decision the arbiter comes up with is the decision (assuming binding arbitration).

If the parties "settle out of court" and don't go to arbitration, then whatever they agree to is it. "It" may include a gag order.

I didn't see a forum at is300.net? (Just links to some good car sites, like Edmunds). Did I miss something?

1Dog... I did shop around quite a bit... here is a recent post I guess I am in central NJ Edison Woodbridge area and went a little south to buy.
"I preferenced a Sequoia and should have it in a few weeks. I worked with Bob Strzelecki at Dayton Toyota on Route 130 in Dayton New Jersey. 732 329 9191. Over the last five years friends and family members have purchased many vehicles from
them. We have always been treated in a pleasant and professional manner. Anyone
who is looking for good dealership to work with in NJ please give them a call."
Dianne.... thank you for your help and suggestion. I never thought of that duh.... Get out your digital camera and post some real pics. Some of those look like grabs from the Toyota web site. It is absurd that they don't have a pic of an SR5 when you build up one on their web site.

Uh nope I think I win. You didn't you excessive caps. Yes sorry I should have read your entire post but that was not the reason for my visit. Just wanted to see if anyone had responded to my post. I was forced to to wade through a bunch of garbage with a lot of caps. Thanks for that. Sorry just not a lot of patience at 0123L. I apparently still don't have full command of the newly installed spell check. I'll have to ask Drew if they can put on a caps check for you. Lima Dave

Agree with you completely that Toyota made it needlessly difficult to order the side airbags in my region (FL). What Toyota's marketing dept. doesn't know (they didn't ask me!) is that if the Sequoia did NOT have the curtain airbags I would NOT have ordered the truck! It was my number one requirement! (That requirement eliminated many competitors.) So I was astonished that it was so difficult an option to get -- I was jerked around big time by the first dealer I went to -- which is why I was so happy to find my "local Dianne or Steve (Cliffy)" who would order it my way. But the process should not be so difficult, and to read that so many potential customers have been told that you can only get curtain airbags on the Limited is sad. If it were not for the positive encouragement of Dianne and Steve that I could get an SR5 my way, I may have given up. Glad I didn't because the Sequoia's the best thing I've ever driven. I love it!

I have no personal knowledge of the facts, if any, behind what Tloughr is talking about. However, I am a lawyer and in my earlier years I handled a fair amount of lemon law arbitration cases for folks who had problems with new cars that they purchased. One thing I can tell you is that this process takes a lot of time. There is no way Tloughr could possibly have completed an arbitration in this short of time as the Sequoia has only been available for 4 or 5 months. Also, for what its worth, in my experience I have never seen a "gag order" imposed as part of an arbitration proceeding or offered by a company as a part of a settlement. In my view a provision such as that would probably end up biting the manufacturer hard down the road.

BTW, I own one of the first Sequoias off the line (8,000 miles so far), and I'm enjoying it. No unexplained noises so far.

would someone please post dianne4toyota web site or would they please mail it to me? I am leasing my second Camry and will probably looking to lease a Land Cruiser this year.
    Thank you.

    Doubleagent,

Since Tloughr deleted his posts after the arbitration, it APPEARS as if you've jumped into this subject line without knowing the facts. I say APPEARS because you have not addressed Tloughrs specific claims. The existance of the arbitration has not been denied by Toyota. Nobody from Toyota has denied his claims. Tloughr referenced a Toyota area rep and his phone
number which apparently is valid. Tloughr published statements that the Rep said and those have not been denied. You're doing
all kinds of jumping up and down but you have not said one word about the claim in question.

Further evidence that you are new to this forum is the inaccurate statements you make about me.
I've been hanging in this forum since early January and a strong (some would say rabid and vocal) advocate of the Sequoia.
You're just plain wrong on most (or all) of your
arguements and accusations pertaining to me. But
I understand your tatic....kill the messenger.

As for the "true identities" of people, I make no efforts to hide my identity (unlike you). It's obvious in your posts that you have
financial incentives to assist Toyota in squelching this subject
line. I have a couple of questions for you...

#1) Your handle only appears in the Sequoia forum

#2) I don't feel like wading through the whole history of this forum but when was your first append here?

#3) If your first append was in refernce to this topic, how did you find out about it? Were you asked to join the fray by someone connected to Toyota or had a financial stake with Toyota.

#4) I guess it's also possible that you're just a 12YO with time to burn.

    cheers

  • thirdsuvthirdsuv Member Posts: 209
    Hookey,

When this Tloughr guy jumped in with his accusations I was one of the first people jumping on him to get his facts straight. (Obviously the
trail is messed up due to Tloughrs deleteions
    after the arbitration)

However, he left a trail of (apparently) valid
Toyota rep names and numbers and an (allegedly)
arbitration that would be very easy to deny by
    Toyota if it was incorrect.

Yeah, I know it sounds fishy. OTOH, there are people on this forum that know the truth one way or the other and they aren't talking.

If silence is Toyotas official response then fine. They have to live with the consequences of their decision in this unregulated "buyer beware" information age.

If there isn't any official word in a few days, I'll ressurrect Tloughrs posts and make up a history file on my website that I can link to.
That way new people coming in asking about Sequoia can have easy access
to the issue and they can determine for themselves if it is valid or not.

The SR5's here in SoCal are 95% with side airbags. It's NOT Toyota who's keeping you from them. It's your REGION!

Siasconset, I honestly was trying to be helpful. The Sequoias are in and out of here too fast for me at times to even get a good photo, so for the meantime, some of the harder to catch colors are "stock photo" only 'til I can catch one in person when I have time to stop what I am doing and take a photo.
  • robynkrobynk Member Posts: 46
I was also bummed that it was so hard to find an SR5 with side airbags. Our dealer did find us one, but it had so many other options we did not want/need that we could not afford it. We didn't have time to special order, so ended up taking a vehicle without the side airbags.

I also have a question about the 12 volt outlets.
They automatically turn off when the car is off (unless you leave the key in the ignition in the acc position) to protect you from being an idiot and killing your battery. But I have some low-draw appliances that I would like to leave on when I leave my car. I have been doing it for 3 years in an expedition without draining my battery. Is there any way to over-ride this "feature" of the Sequoia? My main complaints about the Sequoia all come down to it trying to be too damn smart and trying to protect you from yourself.

I will say that the Sequoia is doing a nice job of handling our toughest conditions -- deeply rutted mud, frozen in the morning, soft and slippery in the afternoon!

btw, under what conditions does the traction control beep? That is rather annoying!

    Thanks!

OK thirdsuv, allow me to elaborate on something you threw back at me. I did say that I suspect some sort of agreement between tloughr and the rep at Toyota. My suspicion is that the customer was even more obnoxious in person than he was here. It is my guess that a conversation ran something like this, "Sir, we've taken care of the noise by insulating the injectors. There is no more noise. What is it going to take to get you to pull my number off that web site? An extended warranty for 100K? Fine. Done."

I would bet that the district manager from Toyota was able to demonstrate to the guy that he did not have a reliability issue and was terrified that more statements would be taken out of context if he were allowed to post them. The Toyota guy probably had a verbal agreement to give him something in exchange for dropping the whole thing.

Meanwhile, we all sit here guessing and you think there is a conspiracy. The damage has been done and I'm dropping it after this one in hopes that the whole thing vanishes.

In reference to your question about the VSC, I just don't know who makes the ABS system for Toyota. I have many times posted a complete explanation of how the VSC system works here. I recently posted it at www.tundrasolutions.com under the "Sequoia Tech" conference.

It beeps when one of your wheels has broken loose and is spinning, or if it's preventing a skid. When you hear it go off, slow down (don't lift off the throttle suddenly and or stab the brake pedal, just reduce throttle gradually).

I know precisely what you are talking about! My 1997 Exploder will trickle-charge my cel phone and keep it OK all day, but the Toyota electricals all shut down when you turn off the car. Rather annoying at first to me, but I learned to live with it. I mean, when I rationalize & compare the experiences with Ford vs. Toyota, better off learning to live with a minor annoyance vs. being able to trickle charge whilst being towed/broken down/at dealership for recalls!

But, I sympathize! I learned the same thing about it not charging while not on (Toyota).

I went through the same decision process on whether to get a SR-5 or a Limited. I ended up getting a fully loaded (minus side airbags) Silver Sky Sequoia SR-5 including preferred package, alloy wheel package, convenience package, moonroof, roof rack, dual AC, rear cargo net, and DRLs. Thus the only things that I don’t have from the Limited are the following:

    - No 6 spoke split alloy wheels (The SR-5 with alloy wheel package have 5 spoke alloys)
    - no metallic, hammered metal trim on the interior dash, center console, or window swithches (I could add the metallic trim for around $350 from toyotaparts4u.com. I plan to replace only the HVAC and 4WD switches with the metallic ones for around $40 total. I think this accent the dash perfectly.)
    - no power folding mirrors
    - no heated seats (I had them added by an aftermarket installer using the Limited Factory Heat Switches (total cost: $550)
    - No option for rear wing/spoiler (I am interested in adding the rear wing but I have not checked on pricing or what would be involved yet.)
    - No chrome inserts on grill (I could add a chrome grill for $150 from toyotaparts4u.com)
    - No chrome trim strip on side of vehicle (no plans to add this trim)
    - No factory fog lights (I had them added by a aftermarket installer (for $80) using the factory fog lights ($250 for the pair), tundra fog lamp switch ($35), and an aftermarket relay ($10))
    - No auto on/off headlamp feature (SR-5 has auto-off lamps only but if you leave your headlamp switch in the on position, the vehicle will switch the lamps on and off automatically)
    - No color keyed bumpers and running boards. (Because I have Silver Sky, my bumpers and running boards are color-keyed. That is why I chose that color. Alternately, you could order another color and have the trim blocked out for about $1200.)

I believe those are the only differences but as you can see I have closed the gap considerably by adding factory equipment later. The sticker price on my vehicle was $41,710 with destination charge. My dealer, here in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, discounted my vehicle by $2900. Dealers typically will not discount Limiteds as much as SR-5s so keep that in mind. I have spent an additional $850 on the heated seats and fog lights and plan to spend about $500 more. I probably could have got a base limited (sticker: $42,750 with destination charge) for about the same total money out of pocket but I would not have a moonroof or a CD changer in the dash. Those are both options on the Limited. To me these options were more important than having power folding mirrors, metallic interior trim, and a few chrome inserts. My SR-5 has all of the ‘meat and potatoes’ that are found a full-optioned Limited for about $3000-$3500 less. Hope this helps with your decision. Good Luck!

My, my aren't we into conspiracies these days?

Frankly I would never ascribe much credibility to an anonymous poster who posted unsubstantiated facts and then left the board for whatever reason (even if he leaved "apparently" valid names and numbers). The most I would read into it is that his particular truck had a problem.

I'm not going to speculate about what went on, but no way will I believe there was any arbitration completed in the short time period that he could have owned his truck.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the alleged facts, or lack thereof, in the "Tloughr" case, I think I can enlighten you a little bit about law and business.

Any lawyer worth his salt would tell Toyota to NEVER, NEVER (sorry about the caps there) post any kind of response to forums such as these. One reason is that Toyota would be subjected to anonymous posters bending the facts or making up facts and it would be a no win situation. But the more important reason is that Toyota could put itself in the position of potentially having a "duty to update" and a "duty to correct" any incorrect postings on this board in the future.

Someone could surmise that the Company officially responded to the "Tloughr accusations" on this board, but not to the "Smith accusations" and therefore the "Smith Accusations" must be right.

It can be a very slippery slope for any corporation to respond to anything appearing in forums like this (as well as forums that discuss a company's stock). As corporate counsel to several companies I always advise to "never, never, never respond to anything on these boards no matter how tempted you are and no matter how wrong the facts are that appear on the board. So don't hold your breath waiting for Toyota to respond.

If you are that concerned by the Tloughr's postings, just don't buy this truck.

I thought I read on one of the forums that a 2001 Sequoia can hold a 4'x8' sheet of plywood with the third seat out, second row folded down and the hatch closed. Can anyone confirm if this is true and if these dimensions will actually fit stacked on the floor (flat) or somehow tilted up onto the back of the front row seats?

Do any experts out there know if Toyota will be uprating the Sequoia engine next model year? I am looking seriously at the Sequoia along with the GM twins (I already have a 98 Tahoe with 70K trouble free but thirsty miles). I would like more hp for towing and mountain driving and so far the Denali (6.0) looks about right.

I know you are awesome with your help and info. I was more going off about Toyota. I preffed my SR5 in white because of your pic on tundrasolutions. What ever happened to the site? You were able to go to the bottom of the site and easily look up Sequoia pics did they move that somewhere else?

    Cliffy,

I (along with many others) know you're one of the good guys. The only reason you got tagged in this melee is that you went the extra mile to protect your customers. (That will teach ya!!)

I don't believe that I was the only person interested in Tloughr's DBP (Drive By Posting), however I obviously had no hesitation in lighting a fire when an apparent information blackout occured.

So now, contrary to Hookey's free legal advice,
a lonely infantryman with real brass goes out into the battlefield and erects a logical defense. Cliffy, your hypothesis of events
makes sense and I assume that your previous anxious custmoers that you mentioned before got equivently the same story and are happily enjoying their SEQs. As usual
the war is won in the trenches, not the lawyer-stuffed boardrooms.

    Cheers

Interesting read on the Tundra Sol's. boards and thanks for the input. Stability Control is little understood and seems to be not well marketed since very few can explain it. I have figured out that there are 3 basic systems at this time, GM who introduced in 97 Cad and 98 Vette; Bosch who got put in 96 MB and then more EU models later; and most of the volume from Continental Teves, used to be ITT, who sells to everybody else and then there is the Asia factor with very little mention of source for system components and can't tell how much volume. Analysts seem to think it is comming on all SUV's but can't really tell from what the car companies are doing.

I'm here to add to the chorus of praise for Dianne at Carson toyota. After waiting weeks for another dealer to find a black 2WD Sequoia Limited *without* sunroof and being told they were "very rare" and hard to find I e-mailed and called Dianne. She essentially said "come and get it" and she gave me a great price. We drove home with it yesterday. She and her colleague Mike were great! If you are looking for that special Toyota there should be no doubt for anyone here who to go to!

I went to the dealer today after he had called me to tell me that the Jade Limited was in. As I was driving it occured to me that I was only minutes away from finally getting this truck. Well Dianne, you were right, it's alot of green!! So now I'm thinking that the Thunder Grey with Oak interior and gold package might be my choice after seeing one at another dealership this weekend, the saga continues. (BTW, I took my digital camera with me and snapped them of the Jade as well as a Black limited that just had some pinstripping put on, if anyone would like to see them, let me know)
Now as far as the noisy injectors, I spent at least 30 minutes with this truck today both driving as well as walking around the outside as the engine ran. I did notice a faint tapping but I had to put my ear to the hood and the inside of the truck was dead quiet, real nice.
Lastly, my dealer went from having virtually no inventory to now up to around 8 in the next week or so. I'm wondering if availability is freeing up or perhaps consumers just not buying them given the state of the economy?

    Cliff,
    Thanks for your response.
The trip computer said I had 18 miles till empty, the warning light came on about 50 miles till empty and the fuel gage was pointing to empty, but the manual advises not to drive the car until empty so the answer is no but almost. and still only able to fill about 20-21 gal.

I am committed to purchasing a SEQ, partially a result of all the positive commentary on this great site. My local dealer has a prefed 4x4 Ltd W/all the options including HP,RF,SR,CF,V2,GY,RL,EJ,WL and all weather mats. I can have it for $42.5K. I live in NY 40mi outside Manhattan, can anyone comment on this pricing. Should I continue to shop around or take it. Also, I am considering leasing and with interest rates likely to drop .5% to .75% this week, will that have an impact on the money factor and can anyone comment on their leasing experience.

As I get more and more cars, best as I can I am posting their individual photos to the dealership website in that SUV area. I posted a few photos of the Thunder gray earlier yesterday... and you'll see two there, one from the back, one from the front. It's a very opalescent color -- chameleon hues so it looks different depending on light! Email me and I'll send ya two photos of the same darn car -- all I did was walk 10 feet and snap a rear shot..and it looks different. I think that's what every T-Gray owner must like about their cars- variety!

Do you have to break the car in for the first 1K miles? Varying the speed while driving?
What effect would it have to the engine if that 1K is all highway, doing 65MPH?

I have ordered a white SR5 and I was wondering if anyone has seen one with that color combination yet.

Dianne, is it true that the white SR5 will come with TAN trim around the rims, not grey?

    I got an White SR5 4X4 with:
    AC Dual ac
    AH Alloy package
    CQ Convenience pkg
    CC Electric seats
    GY Side airbags
    DR Roof rack
    RL Running lights
    CF Floor mats

All this for $33,930....$279 under invoice.

If you are in the Minneapolis area or not, the guy I bought from is the sales manager and is looking to increase volume. Please email me at wstill1071@aol.com and I will give you his contact information.

    Thanks,

I swear you are in for a rude awakening on this. My guess is that some dealership agreed to this price to "get you out of the market" which is a polite way of saying "would somebody shut him up?" I don't agree with this selling tactic but I know of dealerships who will do this. If they get a very loud and persistent customer, they will agree to just about any price you want. The trick is, they never get the vehicle for you. You will be left in limbo for several weeks while they "try to get this for you."

Once you loose patience waiting for the exact model and equipment you asked for, you will get a call from your salesman telling you they have one with very similar equipment but just has one or two extra things you didn't ask for. They will offer a reasonable price but nothing under invoice and probably more like $1000 or more over.

Since you have been waiting for so many weeks without the new vehicle that you have been telling all your friends about, you might cave. They will probably even tell you their order was rejected and can't get your optimal equipment right now. They will stick to their guns on price at that point unless the market has softened to an extreme degree by then (which I don't see happening).

Just watch out here. The price you have been quoted is truly unbelievable. If they follow through with the deal, the manager should rightly be fired. Selling a Camry into holdback makes a little sense. Selling a Corolla into it does as well. Selling a Sequoia that you don't even have in inventory is insanity. Your deal sounds too good to be true.

Since you've owned both the Expedition and now the Sequoia how would you compare them? Which Sequoia did you get?

I just saw a white SR5 about 15 minutes ago. It is a plaing, stark white with a subtle tan on the fenderwells. I found it fairly striking, my wife prefers her Thunder Grey.
  • zinny2zinny2 Member Posts: 46
    Cliffy:

I agree with you assesment on the price all the way. I do not know what will happen, but I do know I have nothing to loose, no down payment. And I do know I bought my VW Passat GLX in the same manner for a wonderful price at the time when it too was not in inventory and had to be built to my specs. I sent this offer out to many dealers in the area and I received several back for $500 over invoice and he was even better. Maybe the Minnespolis area is soft. I do not know.

As for being loud or persistent, I really have not called him more that three times in the last three weeks.. I am in no hurry to buy this car. We communicate via email and I met him last weekend to price a possible trade. And also, he stated that if the car does come in with additional options that I did not request, he will not charge me for those.

However, if the car comes in and it is not what was promised I simply will not buy it. I am not beholden to the sales manager nor would I ever make a silly purchase just to appease my friends.

I do appreciate you comments because you have been a wonderful source of info. I will let you know how things are going. Is there anything I can ask for from the manager while I am waiting to confirm this is the car I was promised.....(ie, a build schedule or if I get the Vin # will you be able to tell me the options the car has?)

    Thanks,

    zinny

Hopefully, everything will go as planned. I honestly don't know the market in MN, but I do know that what you described would be enough to get any manager fired in this area. At the moment, the SR5 is going between $1500 to $2400 over invoice (and the $1500 is rare and would only be an odd ball color that was in stock). The Limited is going pretty close to sticker. A good deal on a Limited is one you can drive home in within a week and pay $1000 under sticker. I'm sure some people have done better this month, but that would be the exception and not the rule in the DC area.

I'd be glad to check up on this for you. I have a TDN computer at my desk and can check the inventory in MN. If the order (actually called an FRS request) was placed this week, it wont show up in the system with the correct equipment for another 2 weeks or so. Check back with me then and I'll see what they are showing. You can't get a VIN until it is built but the dealership will get a temporary serial number before that. I can also use this to track it.

Again, I hope you get the deal you are expecting. I have serious doubts. This has all the markings of an "old school" trick. I've only been in the business for 7 years but I've learned quite a few and this is the "take 'em out of the market" one. It plays to human vanity and works often enough that it is still used by some.

A close friend had a Nissan "lemon". It never went to arbitration and she did sign a letter stating she would not divulge the terms of the agreement. All she told me was that she was "very, very pleased" with the outcome. I know she got a new car, because that's what she's driving now :) but even though arbitration might take 4-5 months, to settle early can happen at any time. In her case, it was less than a month between the time she took delivery of the first car and when she took delivery of the second one. IOW, Tloughr could have been legitimate to the best of his or her knowledge (stating what s/he had been told originally), and as Cliffy said, Toyota made him an offer he couldn't refuse ;)
  • minhskiminhski Member Posts: 36
I got the name of the dealer & salesman from zinny, sent him what I wanted. Cliffy even gave me a quote but I'd have to wait 8 to 10 weeks to order the SEQ with the GY option.

I talked with the same salesman from MN on Tuesday, he told me what I wanted didn't exist, and would have to order. He also gave me a quote for an existing SEQ that has all that I want plus the Sunroof. And this is what's on the truck:

SR5 4WD plus AH, CC, CQ, DR, GY, SR, CF, GN, GP and the MSRP on this truck is $39,569 and the price I can get for this is less than $35.4K. Color is black, which I told him I didn't want. So he's gonna search the area for another color.

My main requirement is the GY, side air bag option. I don't care for the SR and GP, but the price is still lower than comparable quotes I got from other dealers in my area ( VA ) by $1500.

He'll fax me the paper work on the Truck tomorrow and if everything look as stated, I'll go ahead with the purchase. Of course I'll have to fly up to MN to pick up the vehicle and drive back to VA (over the weekend). But then again I get the truck with GY that I wanted, and when added in the air travel costs, it's still cheaper than ordering from here. Plus I don't have to wait 10 weeks for the truck while wheel-less.

Today, I called the dealer and they told me the salesman was off today. By 4PM, I received a call from the salesman (probably calling from home
because the caller ID showed that it was calling from MSP, but not the same number as the dealer #) He told me that he'd found another SEQ in another color, silver.

So, zinny and cliffy, I'll be the guinnee pig on this deal, this weekend. Will keep you all posted on this development. If it proves true we'll have found another great source for SEQ in the midwest.

BTW, why isn't AC package available, is it because it's in the MN region?

I've posted a question about breaking in the car the 1st 1K miles. Which I plan on putting on this trip when driving back. So help me out guys, let me know what you think about driving this truck the first 1K miles.

Cliffy, I appreciate your reply to my request for a quote, and would preferred to purchase nearer home, but I need wheels now and 8-10 weeks wait is too long for me. Thanks though.

This is the first time owning an SUV, and a 4x4, and am picking up the truck about 1.2K miles from home, going through the flat land, in IN and OH, and some mountain driving through PA.

Do you normally keep it in 4WD or can I keep it in 2WD all the way home? And speed, varying between 45-50MPH and 65MPH or can I just put on cruise control?

    Thanks,

I am in the market for a Limited Sequoia 4x2 in CA (EJ, GY, RF, RL, SR, CF, GN, WL). Can anyone tell me what is a "good" price for this area? Some dealers are saying sticker, others above sticker, and a few more at $1500 over invoice. I am unsure why there seems to be such a vast discrepancy in the Los Angeles marketplace. Any help would be appreciated.

Would you consider that maybe the sales manager is controlling his floor plan costs or and allocation is coming up in a few days or maybe he wants to put a few more Sequoias in the market with his logo on it? I look at it as the glass is half full and if there is profit involved, sell the car! He probably will not sell twenty Sequoias at that price but a couple or three may be want he needs to do and respectfully it really isn't any of our business. A final thought, we as dealers need to worry about our own business and take care of our own customers and not worry about what everyone else is doing. As I said before, Great car! Great Price! Zinny and dealer happy!

Ferris, is it your fay off? LOL. Sorry -- I see that name and think Ferris Beuller's Day off!

MSRP and over MSRP is flat ridiculous. If you scroll upwards a few gazillion messages (like perhaps 200) and start reading, you'll know how to reach a very reputable, aggressively priced SoCal dealer with a lot of Sequoias available.

Since the Sequoia has full-time 4WD, you can leave it in 4WD High mode from the time you pick up your truck, till you arrive home. The system is designed to be left on while driving on dry surfaces, so just set it and forget it. With the system activated, you have four drive wheels, and hence double the amount of usable traction at all times. This in turn improves handling and stability.

    Hope this helps!

I've noticed quite a few postings from people with overly optimistic trip computers. I too consistently get an average fuel economy reading on mine that is 2 mpg higher than what I calculate using real mileage and fuel at the pump. Does anyone out there actually get an accurate reading? Has anyone tried reporting this to the dealer with any satisfactory resolution? I notice that my "distance to empty" is way off too (usually the other direction - lots of fuel left when reading 0 DTE). I know these trip computers are not supposed to be super accurate, but you have to wonder about all of them reading high.

... let's see how these guys fare! A few years ago, folks were posting that I was doing unheard of deals on Landcruisers, some even at $100 bucks over cost. I heard from a bunch of people at a time when I needed to head 'em up and move them out. I sold a ton of them across the nation (66 Landcruisers under my belt last year alone!) and made deals that others said " haha, no way". Same goes for deals on Solara ragtops, and even the marvelous Sequoias and other cars. Built Tundras that everyone said couldn't be made under any circumstances. I recall we even started battling when you and I first met here at Town Hall a while back!
My own take on this is that they are small. As their list of interested stacks things up for them like incoming planes over LaGuardia, they may do a few and then their availability will dry up, people will get weary of waiting, and weary of worrying about their car from afar being a pie in the sky or a real thing.

I'd like to see these people deliver a few, not publicize their intent to sell cheap. I still have yet to hear anyone post that they DID get one at awesome numbers. I do see a person from their store in here at times, responding to the questions, but I'm always open to the possibility that they are not all hype and BS. Let's see what they do. Can't hurt!

Hello, first time posting here. I'm looking for a Sequoia and live in Maine. We really want a Limited but we also really want Desert Sand Mica. Those two evidently don't go together. Some dealers say that an SR5 can be "preferenced" to be almost a Limited. Misses the heated seats and fog lights. Anything else I won't get?? How long should it take to get the car if I preference one?? My local dealer says even preferencing I may not get exactly what I want, is this true. Now for all the others to jump in on price. My dealer says $2000 less than MSRP, whatever that is when the car comes in in 4-5 months. I've only bought American cars new in the past and have paid $100 over invoice and ordered them and received them in 8 weeks. Is this price competitive. Unfortunately Edmunds TMV isn't very helpful here. I think if the dealer is making a couple of grand to order it, thats pretty darn good. Any thoughts?? Last question for now, when would I preference to get a 2002 model? I can be patient for a little while longer.
Thanks for any help anyone can offer

Diane & Cliffy, as sbell4 stated, why bother with how the others run their own ship. Isn't it all supply & demand? Some regions are different than others, and have to find ways to clear their lots?

The question Toyota should answer is why deny their loyal customers their choices of options especially when it comes to safety?

Diane had stated that 95% of the trucks come with the GY side air bag on the west coast. Whereas on the east coast, and Cliffy can answer this one, you can't find an SR5 with that option?

Shouldn't all dealers have choices & access to the same products based on customers demands? Aren't the customers being short changed here?

As for me, I'm just as cautiously optimistic that I'll get what I want. I'm just here to share & absorb facts.

    Cheers,
    Minhski
