The proof of claim needs to be POSTMARKED by the deadline, not necessarily arrive by the deadline.
You don't have to attach the whole contract.
"Use the declaration page of your contract."
Go to http://www.warrantynews.com/news.asp
Click on the "Exhibit of Claims Received" and it will show you a PDF file of all claims filed with the "Reorganizers", with Name and address. As of March 4, the list was 192 pages long and ~48 names per page.
I received my Date stamped copy by reply mail just a few days after sending it.
I know a bit about PII (personally identifiable iformation), now that is a huge PII disclosure. I cant believe 1 guy was censored for mentioning a sales rep that made money from referrals? Strange world.
Im surprised they have all the names and addresses of people exposed on the web? Can all these people have their names and addresses published because they filed the suit?
Thanks
Try typing in your name on a google search and see what happens ! There is all kinds of info out there you don't know about.

It’s a Safe Harbor violation unless WG said they were going to display your name and address. These guys probably don’t subscribe to safe harbor nor car about our information. Big companies have to comply pretty tightly with PII. Ever visit Microsoft or go to a hospital?
Just interesting.
Your question is really out of the scope of this discussion. You may want to repost it in a more appropriate area such as our Maintenance and Repair Board, or you can enter "Ford" and Taurus" in the Search area in the left margin to find Taurus-specific discussions here in Town Hall

You've missed the official deadline for filing your proof of claim. But you MAY have an excuse since they did not notify you.
The bankruptcy website is at www.WarrantyNews.com. Read that too.
I recommend everyone get a Chase MasterCard!!!

I was told by the lawyers managing the WG case that it is not too late to file a claim. I purchased my policy in 1998 for a 97 vehicle. Policy is for 7yrs/100k. How should I calculate my prorated refund?
Thanks,
Baxter
Anybody think of that one?
I am kind of lucky with the warranty. It paid for itself 2.5 times. Transmission was replaced, for $2300 or so, as well as couple of gaskets: intake manifold and something else. Total $3000.
Last year the administrator stopped to honor the warranty. WG told, basically, that they are washing their hands and cannot help.
I considered the bankrupcy a pure loss and did not spend my time on following through. If the contract looks too good, most probably it is just true.
Recently I logged at the board, and found that peoples filed claims. I understand, that it is too late to do it now. Just wondering, how much I lost?
BTW, since the bankrupcy of warranty administrator, I spent about $1700 on covered repairs. Alternator, two different repairs of A/C (different parts were replaced), and the coolant tank.
Could you tell me how you got a refund from Chase, they denied me a refund of over 900.00. If they are being selective of who they are helping that is another issue. I had a warranty in effect for only 90 days and lost all my downpayment and payments. The WG jerks kept trying to bill me for payments and sending dunns for canceling my credit card account.
Thanks for your postings in Edmunds. This helps people like me.

It is nice to hear this news. I also paid the money for Warranty Gold using chase card. Could you disclose the letter how you have drafted to them? I would like to put the transaction in dispute in the similar way how you have done.
Thanks
5 Star Warranty and it is not Smart Auto Warranty. So of the three you mentioned, look who is left.

Maybe this guy should be featured on the Dumb Criminals show.

WHERE do you think he got the money to start the new company?
Does anyone think he is going to get a multi-million dollar loan from a bank with his track record?
If you want to know where your WG contract money ended up, it probably went from Austin, Texas to Lincoln Nebraska, to the Cayman Islands.....back to his NEW company's account.
Wonder where this one is headquartered...Havanna?
Tehran? Prague?
These guys never change, and the courts never catch up with them. At least he will get his reward in the next life.......
Amen.....
I hope people won't try to "save" a few dollars by signing up with some Johnny Come Lately internet warranty company.
Did it myself about fifteen years ago but I got lucky and that Cadillac caused us no trouble while we owned it.
Yes, they will save you money up front, but most people recognize that a manufacturer-backed warranty is guaranteed to be solid as long as the manufacturer is solvent, while 3rd party warranty companies have been coming & going for years.
I don't think the "lessons have been learned" comment was directed at those who have already been "taken" by WG. Obviously, those folks have had a painful and costly experience. Our only hope is that other members who read this discussion will think twice about giving money to certain companies. There's a lot of valuable information here - info that you could not have known before being left in a lurch by WG - that could save others from the same misfortune.

I wasn't talking about UU as much as I was the new crop of here today maybe gone tomorrow warranty companies that come and go. I bought an extended warranty from a LONG established warranty company called, I think, Northwest Underwriters in 1986 when we bought a new Cadillac. They reccommended it because it was 200.00 less than the GMAC one. THE DEALER reccommended it!
Well, as I said before, they folded a year later leaving everyone in the cold.
So, you see,I have been there too, and I too learned a lesson! The only good thing was the fact I got lucky and never needed to use a warranty that was worthless.
The one I used, Northwest, took down a LOT of people in, I think 1987. Way before Al Gore invented the internet.
Sorry if I used a poor choice of words.
And the ice'ing on the cake was that they tried to tell people policies sold after June were under written by someone else and that they were good. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't, but they're worthless now.
all of Mr. Nelson info comes up. Makes me sick! He is laughing all the way to the bank.
