2016 RDX price (to be) paid

edited May 2015 in Acura
Hi,
2016 RDX is already on lots. I can see them in inventory of LA and nearby areas. I am interested in FWD Tech Package (with no Advance and Acurawatch package). Initial quote is given to me is $38,000. This looks really high to me. Considering that 2015 RDX with Tech package is closing at $35,000, that price looks big. With no major changes, $3000 is not worth (for me).
If anybody in market got some good numbers, would like to share here ? Or if somebody like to comment, how much should I expect to pay.
Regards

I don't know if there is enough data available yet to work with, but I can't say I'm surprised that dealers are trying to hold out for higher prices on the new 2016 model.

You may have to wait for the 2015 stock to clear out before dealers are willing to negotiate on prices for the 2016.

Congratulations. We got a similar deal here in Maryland, waiting up to 3-5 weeks for White/Parchment. Can't wait. 3rd RDX for us ('08, '11). Wish '16 came with Cargo cover. Seems like a silly miss not to include in base model.

    NO!
While I'm not quite as emphatic about that opinion, there are pros and cons for doing so.

Many many folks will recommend against it - save the money, put it into an account and use it to deal with any out of warranty issues that arise. Chances are, you'll come out ahead.

But - most folks don't have the $1000-2000 in cash to sock away -- the cost of the warranty is rolled into the loan and can provide piece of mind for long term ownership.

That said, Hondas and Acuras are some of the most reliable vehicles out there, so the chances of needing to use the warranty are probably between slim and none. Check the fine print to see what is (and what isn't) covered - given the extensive use of electronics and computers in today's cars, one failure might pay for the cost of the warranty.

We, too, love the vehicle. It's awesome. The only complaint we have is the wind noise. Our neighbor has a TL and we have a friend with a TSX and the only complaint either of them voiced to me was wind noise. We test drove an RDX twice (both times in the rain) and didn't notice wind noise. The salesman told us that acura was aware of wind noise issues and now uses a triple seal in the doors. When we picked up our RDX it was raining and we didn't notice wind noise. The next time (and every time since) we noticed lots of wind noise at all speeds. I haven't taken it back yet (they gave me an appointment for 60 days after purchase), but I'm guessing they have no fix for it.

You can always ask, or shop more dealers. Looks like TMV is running around $500 above invoice, and since TMV is an "average", some people are getting a bit closer to invoice.

    Congrats!

Yep - still in Dallas. I obviously don't frequent these forums very often (just when shopping for cars). But it's funny you bring up the Odyssey as I just took it in to get some struts replaced yesterday under the extended warranty I purchased from Hyannis, thanks in large part to the info I learned here a few years back when buying the Odyssey. Very glad I ended up getting that warranty, as this repair alone already paid for the 8 year coverage I purchased (had purchased an 8 year 80k, zero deductible warranty on the Odyssey for $765)

I am considering purchasing an acura care warranty through Hyannis or Sacucci for our new RDX. Looks like I can get a zero deductible, 7 year 70k warranty on the RDX for about $850. Any thoughts? Seems like just one or two repairs could easily make it worthwhile, and this would extend the factory warranty by another 3 years (we drive 10K or less per year, so we are more likely to hit 7 years before 70k miles). On the other hand, I feel like this is a very reliable vehicle and the warranty may not be necessary (though I also thought that about the Odyssey, and the warranty ended up coming in handy).

I'm in the "no extended warranty" camp but you've obviously had good luck with your experience.

One option may be to wait until closer to the end of the factory warranty, and then make your decision on how the RDX seems to be running and whether you are still driving it.

Struts are one thing but if something electrical blows, you could really be looking at some big bucks. Guess the other consideration is what the coverage is.

Need a good price on a 2016 RDX FWD - no packages - base vehicle. How far below invoice can I get one for?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454

I used an LA zip code to check numbers. TMV is running about $200 below invoice (including destination of $920). $34,243 in other words. That's a switch from just a few months ago when TMV was ~$500 over invoice, at least in some markets.

So, if you consider that TMV is an average reflection of the typical price paid, you can figure that some educated shoppers are getting another few hundred bucks off. Call it $1,000 off invoice and you'd be in the neighborhood of $33,400 plus taxes and fees.

I think that would be a really good price. Whether it's really doable - well, you'll just have to test the market for that.

Whoa, just looked at your profile and it looks like you are in Texas. Using a Houston zip, I get $34,953 for TMV for a base RDX. Big different from SoCal.

Interested in a fly/drive road trip?

Looks like it's now going to be a 2016 RDX FWD with Technology. Apparently to get the nicer leather seats (non pleather or leatherette) you are forced to purchase the Technology package. Don't need AWD in Texas, not to mention if you have a blowout or get a nail in your tire, you can't just replace 1 tire, in most cases you must replace all 4 tires with AWD.

    I'm seeing the following:
2016 RDX FWD w Technology - NO AcuraWatch, NO Advance package
    MSRP with Destination $39,890
Invoice $37,887 (according to the dealer I spoke with today, did not check online)
Based on what I've seen on the blogs $34,900 - $35,500 before TT&L plus $100 Doc Fee would be a good aggressive low selling price.

    Possible in DFW? Thanks!
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
We show invoice of $37,587, MSRP of $39,890 and TMV of $38,198 for a 75214 zip. Don't know what the extra $300 invoice amount is - ad fee?

From reading the CR-V pricing discussion it doesn't sound like Texas is all that aggressive on pricing on Hondas. Since Honda owns Acura, I'm assuming that generalization hold true for the RDX dealers.

Go for the lowball - you have to start somewhere (although getting a bunch of quotes may be a more effective strategy and less time consuming).

abhisheks77, I hear ya loud and clear! You said exactly what I was thinking, it's almost like two different worlds when you switch from the 2015 RDX prices paid blog to this one! Kept asking myself, what am I missing? Truth is.....Nothing except the fact that these freeekin dealers are so greedy it's unbelievable!! But hey, I'm a capitalist so I guess they are taking what the market is giving - at least according to what we see here anyway. I think the car you reference (also the one I'm looking for) could have room for them at the $34,900 - $35,500 range. Looks like they (greedy bastards) are all holding on for more right now, or folks haven't shared their low pricing yet as most deals we see on here are the loaded 2016 models. Keep me posted if you find something!

What's the selling price of the RDX? FWD I assume?

Invoice is $35,334 and TMV for a Dallas zip code is $35,919. Those numbers include the destination.
  • naveent1naveent1 Member Posts: 4
Yes, it is FWD RDX Acura Watch Plus.

I am not sure about the MSRP as i was not allowed to take any copies or snapshot, but OTD for it is 38000.

Can you please let me know if this sounds more than market value in austin texas?

I need to make decision today based on the feedback i get from Edumunds.
