Can u tell me the lease numbers for 2016 Regal, Premium 2 package? I'm interested in 36 month 12k miles per year. Or any other lease deals that seem to be better than the norm. NC

What is the expiration date on lease cash and is the lease cash factored in after negotiating price?

Zero down, $30,885 is gross cap cost. It looks like $2217 in taxes and fees are in the deal and $4171 in cap cost reduction.

CA taxes the monthly payment on a lease, so I don't know what the $2217 represents.

We don't recommend making a cap reduction for a lease, either. That money is at risk if the car is stolen or totaled, and it gives you a false sense of what the true cost of the lease is.

$4171 over 39 months is over $100/mo, so your 'true' lease payment is closer to $425/mo, which is a lot for that price.

    I don't understand, but I want to:
they sell the car to me at $26,050 after giving me over $4000 in rebates or discounts. I come out at $325 a month. It offers me all the extras mentioned which is really top trim less some tech. I stretch to 39 months which is an add of 3 months. ( $975)
    1) Why do you say true lease cost is $425
    2) What part of this deal would I negotiate? Sale price?
    thanks for your help

OK, so if the $4100 in cap reduction is from rebates and not cash out of pocket, I rescind my statement about the $425/mo.

The only variables in a lease are the selling price and the money factor. Negotiate the selling price as if you were buying, and make sure the dealer doesn't mark up the money factor on you.

    2016 Regal Sport Touring
    MSRP ~$31,000
    36 months
    15k miles per year
    $0 down
    New Jersey

MF and residual? Is there lease/dealer cash?

FYI - Dealer's current offer is $320 per month w/ $2k down - would prefer to put $0 down, therefore want to calculate pricing with residual factored in ($320 is inclusive of tax & fees).

    Thanks!

Thanks Michaell - the $2k is flat downpayment, was not provided a breakdown which is why I would like to go back and ask for $0 down but will obviously expect them to then increase the $320 monthly payment accordingly. I don't have a selling price, only the MSRP (31k) - realized after the fact the strategy should have been to negotiate the MSRP price down before jumping straight into the leasing numbers, this is my first car deal, therefore any additional feedback/help would be appreciated. Is the lease cash something to include in the evaluation of the car value, to lower monthly payments?

After doing the calculations with a RV rate of 48%, even if I were to get the MSRP down $5k to $26k - wouldn't $320 a month still be a great deal?

Given the lease cash, that's only an $1800 discount from sticker.

You're right - negotiate the best price first, then apply the incentives and add in any taxes and fees you don't want to pay up front.

$31K MSRP and $26K cap cost, with the lease numbers I've given you, translates to $325/mo - before tax.

What state and tax rate is this.

And, take a look at some of these articles:

MF and residual? Is there lease/dealer cash?

FYI - Dealer's current offer is $320 per month w/ $2k down - would prefer to put $0 down, therefore want to calculate pricing with residual factored in ($320 is inclusive of tax & fees).

    Thanks!

    .00040 and 48%. $3200 lease cash.

What is the selling price? What is the breakdown of the $2K the dealer wants?

I think you can do better, but need more information to be sure.

And, take a look at some of these articles:

    http://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/
This is in New Jersey, which has 7% tax rate on new vehicles. The dealership indicated the $320 month rate with $2k cash down was inclusive of all taxes and fees.

OK, we're getting closer. NJ collects sales tax against the sum of the lease payments up front - you can choose to pay it when you sign the papers, or add it into the monthly payment.

I'd ask the dealer for a full breakdown of the $2000 - in addition to the sales tax, there is an acquisition fee, the first payment, a dealer fee and DMV costs.

Do you still have information on 2016 Regals? I am interested in a 2016 Premium II FWD for 36 months/12k miles in the Grand Rapids, MI market. Would it be reasonable to assume a pretty hefty discount would be made available for a car two model years old? Thanks for your help.

We do not have any lease numbers for the 2016 Buicks.
