I found a steal on 2016 Z-71 4x4 here in Dallas. It is a demo vehicle with only 50 miles on it, MSRP is 36065---marked down to 32609.00 Add fees and it looks like the total sale price is 33330.31. The "lease guy" wasnt in today. I was trying to get payment numbers with zero down (I have money set aside to dip in to to help my payements). They would NOT give me a payment, just an estimated $399/mo for 39/12. Supposedly the guy will call me tomorrow. $399 seems way high. I managed to see what I think was the money factor, looked like 3.91% (whatever the equates to). So I guess I am asking for the MF and residual for a 4X4 Z71, 36 or 39, or 48 mos in Texas. And also if that is enough info above, can you ballpark a payment?

I forgot to add there might be some lease conquest cash somewhere around $2300 total?

36/12 - .00163 and 64%
39/12 - .00163 and 62%
48/12 - .00178 and 56%

Texas applies sales tax to the entire selling price, so your lease payment will be pretty expensive if you roll that amount into the lease.

Using your MSRP and the "total" selling price as the net cap cost, I get $377/mo for 36 months, $372/mo for 39 months and $369/mo for 48 months. And, you'd be paying the tax amount up front.

3.91% is .00163, BTW (divide APR by 2400 to get MF)

$399 seems about right.

Thanks for the quick response. They have about 6 left at that price with low miles so go get em....Classic Chevrolet in Grapevine. Been there a few times, nice folks. Got some decisions to make.....I was gonna get a SR5 Tacoma, but a Z-71 for the same price!

Would need to know the MSRP to figure a payment.

Thanks. MSRP = $37,000. Why msrp? I thought lease was calculated based upon purchase price. Thanks again.

Residual is a percentage of MSRP, no matter what selling price you negotiate. (which is a good thing).

$425/mo.+tax with those numbers.

I see, that makes sense. Getting a bit more technical. With regard to the finance charge, what is the rationale behind adding the cap cost to residual when calculating? This seems crazy to me, and I work in finance

. At first glance it feels like I'm paying interest on 164% of the cost of the vehicle. Please enlighten me. Thank you again!

The money factor is not an interest rate, though it's derived from one. The finance charges are applied to an average of the CAP cost and residual. So, to get an average, you add, then divide by 2. But, in this case, the money factor has already accounted for the division by 2, so you just add.

Those prices translate to a payment of $328/mo before tax.

It depends on the car. Some manufacturers promote a specific lease term (aka "sweet spot") which is often 36 months.

That, and you'll be back in the market sooner.
