Discussed with my indie guy last Thursday about swapping out the battery but we agreed that at the 2 year mark, I'd come back and get an Interstate one. Well Plan A was thrown out the window Monday morning so went with Plan B. Need to be flexible in life I've found. Now off to T P with the Accent so they can take it to Tampa sometime next week it seems. The Accent has a cd player so am happy for that at least as she never signed up for SiriusXm after the trial period ended. Can't believe she's had it 8 years come Thanksgiving weekend. Still drives great but the paint on the roof is a bit tired looking even after the detail. Next time, think I'll have him use some clay on it to see if it can be brought back to life. Who knows, if she gets a job soon, she might just want something a bit newer...she's always loved a Mini Cooper.

Also to add to the pro Ford argument. My Mother In Law is on her 2nd Flex Lease. She LOVES it. Not a single problem. There is a poster here @explorerx4 who has bought and traded a few Fusions, Escapes, & a Fiesta over the years.

my BIL just bought his new Jaguar from a dealer in Ct (not sure where). They did all the DMV work. collected the taxes and got the registration (and I assume plates) and mailed them to him.

IMO, whether dealers do that is related to how close they are to the other state. I got my car in PA, but very close to Jersey so they did all the legal work. just like if I bought it in Jersey.

    N. Jersey dealers do it all the time too.

If you lease through the captive finance company of the manufacturer, then they have to do all of the legwork, no matter where purchased or registered. I leased a car in Maryland, and BMWFS uses a service to do the title/registration work. When they are all done, they send it to you, and you go get your plates.

Wow, putting Vanilla Forums out to pasture already?

    This part concerns me:
Forums / Comments / Consumer Reviews: Early next year, a new community platform is coming that will allow for easier, better (and better-looking) commenting with better visibility into the conversations you have deemed the most important.
I don't know what it means but I suspect it is not good for the future of the forums as we know them.

I'm headed to NOLA and Houston in a couple of weeks. Has anyone here beeen, and do you care to share any recommendations for things to do or places to eat?  (FWIW, my traveling companion and I are both allergic to shellfish, so a lot of the "local flavor" may be lost on us.)

I understand that reaction. Been the same on every change I've been through over the last 15 years. I would only point out that WE are the forums/community and not the software we happen to be using.

We went to NOLA, last year.

The WWII museum is very cool. And, while I enjoy history, I'm not really a WWII buff.
We ate and drank (a lot). Do you want restaurant recommendations? There is a lot of great food there, while still avoiding shellfish.

A little over a month ago. Overnight, me in the house asleep, someone stole the hood and left front (drivers side) quarterpanel (light assembly). Truck was locked, they unlocked it with no damage and no sign of how they unlocked it. Removed everything very neatly. Even unplugged all of the wiring harnesses rather than cutting the wires. Took all of the nuts bolts and washers.

Commander's Palace is great, Camilla Grill in Uptown on the trolly line. Brennan's in the Quarter, of course Cafe' Du Monde. We went to a great place across the bridge during graduation week, think it was Ruth's Something, can't remember now but outstanding. Do the Sunday brunch at Brennan's if possible, outstanding!!! A lot of new stuff in Uptown from what I've heard and also the Garden District, lived there senior year on Seventh St., right near Magazine St., Archie Manning and family lived about 3 doors down. Absolutely an outstanding city and hope to go back someday. take a trolley ride to Uptown and visit the zoo and the Tulane campus right across the street on St. Charles Ave. I could go on but ask some folks who've been there recently. Check some guide books, a lot has changed since the early 70's when I lived there.

Accent is fine now but wheel shakes at around 72 or so, they didn't rebalance the tires so am going back at 7 a m for them to do it. Pollen filter was awful so swapped that out, need to replace the brake fluid but waiting till we hit 30K. Brakes were fine with 70% left. Now it's ready for it's road trip to Tampa next week. Nice little vehicle and suspect she'll keep it awhile longer since the miles are so super low for an 8 year old vehicle.

My middle girl passed her pharmacy boards and is now able to work as a pharmacist if she chooses. Been a long 4 years but now, time to find a job!! And then move out again, glad she came back for awhile but, nice to be empty nesters! Not used to someone always being around on my n/s days, lol!! We are thrilled for her and with her bio/chem background, she should be able to find an excellent position somewhere near I hope.

They rebalanced all four wheels earlier and seems to have solved the issue. Was fun driving her Accent for a few days but I want my Golf back! Never knew how much I missed it after not driving it for these last few days. Got the 3 year alignment policy yesterday as I think it's a bit out but luckily the tires are wearing pretty evenly. My guy is pushing to replace the Continentals with Bridgestone Serenity tires...he even likes run flats but all I want is a tire that's great in the wet stuff and will have a fairly high tread wear rating. Mentioned a Milestar tire, Hertz uses a ton of these as replacement ones, but he said they're crap, low end units. The ones I've been seeing have real meat on them and a very aggressive tread pattern to minimize hydroplaning, exactly what I want. But with probably 5/32 to 6/32 left on the current sneakers, will wait about 6 months to address this issue.
Now, I need to figure out which extended warranty from Fidelity I want, leaning towards a 4 year plan, just need to decide on the mileage number. Figuring on 90K because figure by that time, I'll want something new. At this juncture, just not wanting anything that badly to be honest. And the prospect of maybe getting $14K or a little bit higher for it just seems dumb, worth more to me than that. Luckily, whatever warranty I decide on, it's transferrable if I do sell it privately. Even though I really like the MB CLA and GLA, the Mini Cooper and BMW 3 Series, just not willing to spend what it'll take to get into any of those. And maybe CPO is the way to go next time, let someone else deal with the initial depreciation. Especially on a luxury brand like those mentioned above, new might just not be the best way to go. Am sure i can find a lightly used cream puff out there in South Florida.

Love the colors. That one is just a little south of me. Looks clean, but they have had it sitting a long time based on carfax. 8 months!

I really like brown interior. My son is shopping the A3, and has to be chestnut guts. He finally decided he likes the cosmos (dark) blue paint with it, not just medium gray. IMO a wise Choice. Matches must better, and really stunning. And much less common.

    GTI Update:
Car remains at the VW dealer. As of today, they have replaced the DSG shifter and shifter base, performed the fuel system recall, and taken it on a 100 mile test drive to check fuel economy. I'll have official results this afternoon, but the service lead who is working with me has the exact same car and said the fuel use appeared to be excessive, but they have to fill the tank and do the official calculation for VW before reporting the results back.

VW will not consider my replacement request until the current set of repairs is complete - but its already been out of service over half of the month, so depending how long any other repairs will take, I'll start making noise to move the process along.

    NOLA recommendations:

Brennan's - breakfast specifically. It's pricey, but worth it. Probably need to make reservations.

Court of Two Sisters - Jazz brunch buffet. Again, most likely need to make reservations.

It's been a few years since I was there, but those two are on my list if I ever make it there again.
