    Oh I see. Then that's probably related to clutch disk wear. Two things you could do is flush your clutch fluid, and then add a synthetic transmission fluid, like say Redline.

    My research shows that the clutch shares the brake fluid. That explains why I never saw a clutch reservoir. I am vigilant about fluid changes, and also last year had the clutch inspected, but I do not know about a full fluid flush, so I will bring this up with the mechanic and verify the current state. Thanks a lot.

    Mr. S. I ended up proactively replacing the clutch. (It was not slipping yet.) I am astounded at how easy the new one is to use. I almost put my foot through the floor the first couple of times I disengaged it. I also forgot how far up engagement began when new. The feel of this is taking some getting used to!

    Off we go heading towards year 20 of this car, and beyond.
