So there is a $8500 lease cash incentive right now for the 2017 Fusion Energi (NJ). Any thoughts on whether waiting another month or so for a better incentive is worth it? Or grab the $8500 now while it's available.

Doubtful residuals will increase, this late in the model year.

The only thing that could happen, is for the lease cash to increase. But, inventory may run dry before that happens.

I am in SoCal, and am interested in leasing a Platinum Fusion Energi on a 3 yr lease @ 10k miles per year. They seem like a great car, but for whatever reason (Im guessing the value drop in 3 years), they don't seem to be a popular lease vehicle.
Does anyone have any info or advice, or the current mf, lese deals and rv for California?

thank you. first dealer wanted 1k down and 355/mo for a ‘17 with a buyout of 11,300 second dealer was 0 down 357/mo with first month and title/reg up front for an ‘18 with a buyout of 13k I’m new to this so both seem high to me. i’m assuming the residual value is making the payment higher than i expected.

Yes, the low residual value offsets the large amount of lease cash.

For the 2017, the prices you've cited result in a payment of $321/mo before tax.

should the residual be calculated against the "Total Before Discounts" or the "Total MSRP" ?

Normally, I'd say $35,910, as that is the bottom line, but Ford does some weird things. The only way to know for sure is to ask the dealer.

one last question about Ford RCL residuals.
my residual was based on the MSRP before the $2000 Fusion Energi Discount.
so it ending up being 33% of $35,880 or $11,840.40

but when the lease contract was written it listed the residual value at $12,340.40, $500 more.

both the Finance person and the Salesperson said that "the $500 is a termination fee, that Ford Motor Company adds to each and every lease contract. that is a non negotiated item as it comes from Ford Directly, and is a line item in every lease." have you ever heard of a cost or fee when purchasing the vehicle that is added to the residual value ? I know of disposition fees when turning in a vehicle, but never an addition fee when purchasing at lease end. and I can find no public disclosure of a Ford "termination fee".

what makes me more suspicious is the fact that there is not a separate line item, the $500 was added on top of the calculated residual value.

I would suggest you contact a second Ford dealer and see if you get the same answer on the residual.

Dealers are not allowed to modify the residual; if they do, it's likely the contract will get kicked back by the bank.

There can be a difference between the residual value and the purchase option amount.

Not all makes add a fee for buying the car at lease end, but more of them have started. Seems counter-productive, but there you go. Can't say for sure if Ford does it, but it wouldn't surprise me.
