    is that one of those models built on a TR2 Triumph chassis? A swallow or some such?

    It looks to me to be a K3--but they did make this odd variation called a Palm Beach or something like that.

    Allard Palm Beach - I think an early one (it goes to Mk III but I think this might be one of the first ones)...

    EDIT - or a K3 as you say...

    Never saw one on the road only at car shows...

    When I was a kid I used to see one of the big saloons - probably a P2 - parked near a relative's house but didn't find out what it was for years ..

    The red car is a 1953 Allard K3, it's mechanically similar to the more well known J2/J2X but not as competition oriented. It's similar in appearance to the Palm Beach but the PB was generally sold with a 4cyl Ford while the K3, like the J2/J2X were sold without motors.
    U.S. market examples usually ended up w Cadillac or Chrysler V8 power.

    AFAIK the Palm Beach featured a curved one piece windshield as opposed to the flat pane divided windscreen of the larger K3.

    You could get a Palm Beach with a 6 cylinder as well, in the later models. There was a 21C (4 cyl Consul) a 21Z (6-2.2L Zephyr) and a 72Z (6-2.5L), made all the way to 1960. Apparently a Jaguar XK engine was used for the very last of the line.

    Allard stopped making their own cars in 1960 and produced specialized versions of the 105E Ford Anglia. They were marketed as the Allardette.

    Allard also made this beast in about 1954/5 but only about 10 of them and I saw this one - which is one of two survivors - in the Birmingham Classic car show a few weeks back.. This is someone else's photo some time earlier.

    It is known as an Allard Clipper and I guess Packard didn't think the name clash would affect their sales too much...

    The last one I saw at a local dealer was something like 79K, for a 2004 model. And that's just the first payment.

    I think one can get a mint low miles AMG W220 for 15K today.

    The 70's and 80's were both all over the board musically, so personally I find some good stuff and some truly awful stuff as well in both. But in all fairness, music is a personal preference thing. But I like your line. What's next, I'd like to but the wife won't let me B)

    It's from Mannix and that's the guy who played the title character but i can't recall the actor's name. As for cars, I can ID the small sports car on the left, it's a mid-60s Healey Sprite/MG Midget.

    IMHO the DB11 Volante is a styling triumph. Most high dollar sports/GT cars now are characterized by what I'd call "aggressive aero" styling but the DB11 is a throwback to the gorgeously clean styling of the 1960s/70s. There's a coupe version but for my money the open version is the real looker.

    I think its just the lighting from that one angle. It is definitely an attractive car, as expected from AM.

    Yes I know that, but that doesn't change how it now screams Ford, I see 100x Fusion for every AM (and thanks to the tech boom and my area being a haven for the devilspawn of offshore money launderers, there are plenty of AMs here).

    This is taken in a factory car park in Merthyr in the South Wales coalfield and therefore it is more than likely that there would be less modern cars but I don't know the date.
