I'm in, i probably will drag at least one other paisano with me! Found the dates. Now here is the question... What equipment is required? Can helmets be rented? any special stuff, etc. etc. Also maybe we should get an Edmunds suite of 2 or 3 rooms all hooked together and split the cost like 10 ways?

mike, I haven't gotten far enough in planning to think about a hotel. Not sure if loaner helmets will be available. Don't you need a helmet for auto-cross? I'm just going to break down and buy one. That way I can justify going to more track events.. "Honey, to amortize the cost, I've got to use the helmet regularly." :)

Watch out - they said no SUVs when I looked. Don't sell that XT6 just yet!

I probably need a roll bar for the Miata. I think I'd do autocross first, though.

Especially now that I have OME springs in the Trooper which raised it about 1"!

Juice, you should come with Mikismi and me, it'll be a blast! Take the miata!

    No go. Check it out:

"Roll Bars: They are required in all convertible vehicles".

I need a Hard Dog. $280 plus installation.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Where is that requirement? I should make sure the XT6 will qualify.

Hey all, I'm going to auto-x in Englishtown, NJ tomorrow. Anyone else going to the Auto-x there? Dennis? Well hopefully I'll see some of you there.

  • paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
Well I just got back from the NNJ Auto-x @ Englishtown Raceway. It was great cause we had rain in the morning, but bad cause it dried up later on :(. I ran the same times in the wet and dry as I expected I would! I was the only subie there, except for the girl who drove her dad's RX7 who had a black WRX wagon with 400 miles that she wasn't auto-xing yet. Here are the results...

    http://www.autox4u.com/2001results/3312001.htm

52/100 for me, I'm pretty happy with that!

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Not bad for an '88! Over a decade later you're running mid-pack, and that's without a whole lot of mods.

    Good to go.

The biggest improvement was with the shocks and springs. 2nd improvement was the tires. If I had a stick, I'd shave off at least 2-3 seconds on my times easily. Next will be a muffler and K&N filter. Not much I can do after that.

Here is a picture from their website, taken on March 17, 2001. On another part of the site they are cancelling early May events because the facility will not be ready.

Okay. As fantastic as it will be to have a really great road course nearby, I have reservations about this place being ready in time for the May event Mikesmi discussed. Contingency plans?

    Regards,

Doesn't look like it'll be ready to me.

I was ready to start moving meeting around here at work, but then I was curious if it'll be done. Mikesmi, are there any contingency plans???

I've been following the i Club thread mentioned in miksmi Mar 28, 2001 12:21pm . No mention of an update or contingency. Follow the i Club thread for updates. I'll post when it's sorted out.

    Which Patapsco State Park?

There are several different locations, and they're all some distance from one another. I vote for the McKeldin area. It's pretty large and only about 5 miles from where I live.

Sadly, that is the same day as the Baltimore Irish Festival. I am teaching at 1pm and performing at 1:40-2:30. Very, very much doubt I could catch up.

I just (finally!) got the word that I am expected to accompany my better half to Baltimore that day, in order to, get this, *not* attend a bridal shower. I'm going so that the surprise won't be ruined; after the surprise has been sprung, I get to sit around and wait until it is over and then drive back home.

Sigh. Bottom line is that I won't be at the Covered Bridge Tour.

wdb- Are you a man or a mouse!!!!!

What kind of pathetic excuse is that for canceling out? Get sick, break a leg, fix the car, or emergency at work! There are any number of excuses your "better half" could use to explain your absence. Hey, if I didn't live 600 miles away I'd be there! (Wife in tow or not!)

  • francophilefrancophile Member Posts: 667
Especially when it's the better half's daughter who is getting married ;-) Nope, sorry, I do not have the usual guy options on this particular date. I have to be there. After all, how often does your daughter get married?

    Once (hopefully!),

    Mark,
When and where do you want to meet next sunday for the Covered Bridge Tour? It's only 125miles from SI, so I'd say we need to leave about 2.5hrs-3hrs travel time. E-mail me directly if you want mike@iace.com Also anyone else going from NJ may want to hook-up with Bat and I at a rest stop on the NJTP.

  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
wdb- While I fully understand that your daughter's marriage is a special circumstance, we're not talking about missing the wedding. Only a bridal shower to which you're not even invited! Besides, isn't the Subaru Crew considered family too?

    -Frank P.
  • lucien2lucien2 Member Posts: 2,984
What time are you coming in? I'm playing the Baltimore Irish Festival that day at 1:40 p.m. We could hang out afterward if you really don't have anything to do for the duration of the shower!
  • francophilefrancophile Member Posts: 667
Thanks for the offer! I'm expected to visit with the future son-in-law, so it will depend on what he wants to do.

    Cheers,

I have some special gifts that I picked up at the NY Auto-show from one of the reps there. After I told him that I was active on Edmunds and know Patti, he ran away and got me some gifts to give to you guys! :)

    Mike,

I sent you an email to work out location. I seem to recall you folks talking about staying in touch via FRS radio. I am trying to borrow one from a co-worker. I am looking forward to Sunday.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I am finally confirmed to go, though I think the wife and kid are staying home for this one. I may try to bring my brother Jose.

No freebies from Darlene this time, but it looks like a couple of people will have a few things to hand out.

    Gotta remember the FRS radio.

Glad you are making it! I e-mailed back and forth with Mark aka Bat, and I'm likely dragging my buddy down with his 2.5RS so we'll have at least 3 from NYC. Heading out around 7am on Sunday morning.

I'm still on stand-by (daily) about being able to move home. When they say we can go, we're going to run. . . .. I'm very anxious. There's no place like home, there's no place like home, click click - no ruby slippers. Darn, I knew I forgot something!

In the Pine Barrens, Patti. :-) Move home or move into a new home?

I'd love to try for a trek to the pine barrens. I'm just not sure date wise.

The home comment refers to my "real" home. We had fire in July, 2K and it is taking this long to get rebuilt. But...we're almost there. However, I need to hang close to home because when it's ready, so are we.

I'll keep an eye on the 6th!

I'm heading to the Pine Barrens as well. Taking the big Trooper though...

At the risk of being chastised by Frank ;) , I have to cancel due to a conflict with my son's baseball game on Sunday. It was a tough decision but he's only got 7 games in the season and it wouldn't be fair for him to miss one. I apologize for the late notice.

My wife and boys (especially the older one) still want to go on the tour (oh, and see steam engines) so we'll head up there sometime in May or June (after baseball season).

Frank, I'm going to make you team captain the next time I need to promote an event, heh, heh. ;)

Baseball? The kid should be racing go-karts not playing baseball! :) Good luck @ the game.

  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I can't 'til ours is old enough to learn go-karts. It would be a cool project to build her one.

mike funny you mention karts. I was talking to the owner of a local shop (European Auto) about the cart in his shop. His son begin driving it at age 7. Wow! Expensive hobby though.
