Points well taken. Even so, it would add one more brownie point to the list of Subie advantages. BTW, I want the 6-speed too...

Later that evening on I85 in VA was on a section where it's concrete, long and straight so I figured what the heck its 5am and no one is around lemme see what the SVX can do... Well I didn't learn about top speed but I learned the 120->60 with the metal master pads and SS lines and Slotted rotors is very QUICK. As we are tooling along I spot out of the corner of my eay a state trooper entering the highway on an onramp NEXT TO ME and I'm doing about 120. I stand on the brakes with both feet and bring it down to 60 to stay next to him. He followed me for about 3 miles and then turned off. The rest of the way to the NC border we did the 65mph limit.
The camping trip was great though, got to meet a ton of people from TN, Kentucky, VA, NC, SC. I brought down homemade Tomatoe Sauce and Sausage for Friday night, saturday we made steaks, Chicken, Pork loin, apple pie, all kinds of good stuff on the BBQ. Weather was perfect for camping, no bugs, crisp and cool.
Overall the SVX did excellent, I was a little worried cause it had never been on such a long trip ~1300 miles in 3 days. But it just kept trucking along.

Also, and please understand as a mother of a soon-to-be 16-year-old boy I feel obligated to say this...SLOW DOWN, you're scaring me! ;-)
We went to a wedding in the Catskills (Andes, NY). It was my first trip there and the roads are FUN! The scenery was gorgeous and the leaf colors are getting close to peak.
Didn't calculate my mpg's. Gas was over 20 cents more per gallon so I didn't fill up.

* 7 years of roadside assistance means I save $497 by cancelling AAA
* better resale value, we'll probably sell at 95k just to have that selling point
* obviously, the warranty itself
I figure even if you never use it, you still almost break even when you factor resale ought to improve by a couple hundred bucks.
We spent $2500 in years 5-7 on the 626 (rated highly reliable, so what?), with mileage nowhere close to 100k.
Dennis: $700 is cheap, I've heard much higher prices for fixing those.
I still can't believe paisan used the word "opted" in a sentence, and properly! ;-)
Careful driving so fast, or they'll think you are the sniper! Sounds like a fun trip. Did you ride with TreeKillah once you got there?
I was changing diapers, patching dry wall, painting, caulking, raking leaves. But my 3 year old says I'm her best friend so that's okay.

Make sure you keep that fishing line of yours away from the spawning salmon. ;-)
Glad you are enjoying the Island, now you just have to keep it a secret.
Cheers,

Just wanted to say "Hey Ross"
I'm quite subie-less at the moment and I could kinda relate.

In fact I mentioned that it might be a good idea to make the H6 the only engine in the Outback, leave the H4 for the Legacy L and L/SE, and then turbo the 2.5 GT.

the website didn't seem to have a great deal of information, but sounded like a rich man's game. or at least, someone richer than paisan. ;-)
-Colin
mike - you need to bleach your hair blonde and call yourself SubieGuy. Huge yellow vinyl stickers along the side of your SVX wouldn't hurt, either. ;-)

Loosh would be proud, we experimented with some goat and shrimp, great food overall. The flan was good too.
Alas, no grilled turbot, but Frank was particularly fond of the Rally Bread. :-)
Good to see you guys. We gotta try to make this a regular thing, at least whenever an out-of-towner comes to DC.

Was Jackie Chan really in a Justy in the movie? I'll have to look more closely next time I see the movie.
I would have thought the movie pre-dated the Justy.
Steve
As juice said, just got back from having lunch with him, Mike Smith—and finally got to meet Frank. Frank even put on his workin' clothes, just to meet us!
Now, if they would only catch that sniper! It took me a good 20 minutes or so longer to get to Mike's house because of all the extra traffic caused by this morning's latest shooting...

Just because you no longer have Rufus does not mean you cannot chip in anytime.
Cheers Pat.
Anyone else who visits from out of town (despite the sniper), let us know.

They had a cutaway at the NY Auto Show too, but it was an XS 2.5l.
How cool to visit the Paris show, heck, just Paris, even.
Does the Enzo look as cartoonish live as it does in photos?

They were looking for "import buyers" how were not wooed by 0% financing and the big rebates the domestics offered.
Generally, I said that we look at quality and reliability first. Though there are a few domestics that meet that requirement, most are from Japan.
Price is one issue, but if they're offering huge rebates, resale erodes badly. A 2 year old Taurus, from the Budget rental fleet, goes for $10-12 grand. A similar Outback goes for $16-20 grand. Easy pick, especially when they cost the same new.
Finally, my third point was that any "Buy American" sentiment is completely not applicable. First, I'm not even American. I want the local economy to do well, but it has to succeed on merit, not pity. I will put my hard earned dollars on the product that offers the best balance of value, reliability, and fun.
So of course we bought a Subie. :-)
Then I brought up the whole globalization of the industry, is a Dodge Intrepid an american car, when it's made in Canada and German owned?
What about the Volvo V40, which is Swedish, but really american (Ford), but really made in the Netherlands, but actually assembled by a Japanese company (Mitsu), which in turn is owned by Chrysler (american), which is actually German (DCX)?
I think she'll get a couple of cool quotes from all my ramblings.

I love it! It sums up my sentiments exactly! Let efficient markets reign!
juice, can I have your autograph before you get too famous? ;-)
Ken
But you really bought local.
I think the only plant in MD was the plant that used to build GM vans in Baltimore, but I think even that closed.
Correct me if I'm wrong, anyone.

I had to have a gastroscopy in order to move it, as well, since they had to have me asleep for the procedure, they decided to expand my esophagus as they deemed it was too tight from the surgery I had two years ago to cure acid reflux, I have had a number of scary moments with food jamming but last night was the worst.
My stomach feels at the moment as though I have gone 15 rounds with Lennox Lewis.
Cheers Pat.
