Well that makes sense, since you bumped up the torque by maybe 25-30 ft lbs. I may start calling a C30 a "mystery car". I have yet to see another one on the road.

I see a few now and then, but I love the fact that you don't see them everyday.

    Some sort of Allard?

Not just some sort of Allard, it's a1951 J2, perhaps the most successful of Allard's various English American sportscars. Carroll Shelby was one of those who raced J2s, it possibly is where he got the idea for putting a V8 into an AC.

Like many J2s, the pictured car was powered by a Cadillac V8. Others used Chrysler Hemi or Flathead Ford/Mercury V8s

Nothing sounds quite as nice on an old classic as a Flattie.

Actually I have had another look at that half plate - I think everything I said just now is wrong, because it makes more sense if it is a French plate. the font used for 29 is similar to French plates too - it doesn't quite look right for British ones.

French plates until the end of the 1990's were numbered so they showed the Department code and would have been in the format (by the time they had reflective plates) of -1234 ABC nn - where nn is the two number code for the department. 29 would be Finistere the western end of Brittany - so if that is right the plate isn't British but in a sense Breton....

I've found a list for French codes and it seems that department 29 was issuing four digits followed by nnnnXL29 in July 1996 and was on nnnn XQ29 at the end of 1996, so it could be the right hand half of a plate issued in the latter part of 1996.

My son had an '87 BMW 325iS (in 2011). We had the original window sticker, and it was nearly $28K!!

Maybe a '66. Not sure but I can't see a turn signal indicator usually seen at the front fender of the '67 Charger.

Brown is love it or hate on cars.  My mom had a brown RAV 4. I had nicknames for that car that aren’t PG, lol

That is a nice color on the BMW. Sure you don't want to take that over brown - just kidding ;) Actually, I've seen some very nice brown colored exteriors on vehicles over the years. Looks like browns are taking over the previous tans and golds lately.

The color is a repaint in a shade BMW calls Fjord Blue. Blue is a signature color for BMW and they've used every conceivable shade over the years.

It's a 1973 BMW 3.0CS (E9) and may be the best looking production Bimmer ever, excepting of course the 507.

Their styling is generally conservative and has used the same elements since the introduction of the Neue Klasse in the 60s. These include the divided grille, pointy nose, boxy rear, round headlights etc. The side vents today are found only on M-Series cars.
The E9s were unique in being pillarless hardtops.

That looks a couple of shades darker than Fjord on my monitor, but it could be the lighting.

    I had an E9. 1967 2000CS with a '69 drivetrain.

Of course, not nearly as pretty as the 3.0 CS, especially from the front.

Was the Bavaria basically the 4 door version of this car?

Nope.. The Bavaria was the forerunner of the 5-Series. Though, they may have shared drivetrains.

Yup, the Bacaria was the Forerunner of the 5 Series. The E9s (CS/CSL) were the forerunners of the 6 series.

I forget to mention the most prominent shared themes of BMW styling, the prominent belt line and the Hoffmeister kink on the C Post (now copied by nearly everyone).

Also, the E9 started as basically a variant to the 1600/2002, which even though they were 2-doors, were considered sedans by BMW.

Well yes, the 1600/2002 were considered sedans since they were initially stripper versions of the slightly bigger Neue Klasse sedans.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_New_Class.

The E9s used a stretched version of the Neue Klasse chassis. A few of the first E9 model the 200CA were brought in to the US but not many. I've never actually seen one.

I've actually walked along there - the streets there are preserved and that area is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The white /cream car following the Dart is an Opel Commodore A I think - late 60's although it could be the contemporary Rekord. Certainly the similar silver car with the vinyl roof parked next to the red Beetle is a Commodore

Pretty sure that C&D did an article about a Norwegian car club, within the last few months.. All about their fascination with American iron.

At the far right is a white wagon that looks like a Mopar. It's under the yellow awning. It's is backed in so the front and the windshield pillar show.

I've read that the Dutch are keen on American Iron as well. Makes sense, their roads are like those in most of the midwest, straight and flat

    Is that a Sprint?

The ad doesn't say, it's listed as just a 1964 Falcon. IIRC any Falcon that came w the factory 260 V8 was a Falcon Sprint (essentially a Mustang with a different body). I think the emblem
just forward of the door is the Sprint badge.

When Bob McNamara ran Ford he's supposed to have wondered why anyone would choose a V8 when they could get the economical 6. This is how you get confused when you think only in terms of numbers. ;)

Well theoretically they were as fast as a Mustang w the 260 V8 would be. They actually did well in rallying>
