Very close. WC58 Command Car from 1943. Certainly not many of these still around. Worth a gold star to you for being that close.

1962 Maserati 3500 GTi Touring Coupe pictures from the conceptcarz valuation page. Not a lot of sales for a rare car like this but getting pricey over the last 10 years. :)

Only 1,991 Maser 3500 and 3500i were made. A nice one should be worth 1/4 mil by now.

Here's a nice cross section of different MY '50s cars, the newest from 1958 and an oldie going back to the beginning of the decade (or earlier). Different makes and body styles all represented. Call 'em out.

Lots of colors but blues are predominant (we had two light blue cars during those years).

56 Ford and 58 Ford approaching. 57 Ford behind the rent trailer. Could the light blue at far right be a 59 Ford? I’m going on the chrome behind the rear wheel.

Man you have a good eye, there does appear to be a chromed lower rear quarter which makes it a '59 Ford, and the newest car. It appears to be carrying a king sized mattress on the roof. The black/white Ford pulling in is definitely a '57 but i don't see any '58 Fords.

The oldest car by several years would be the two-tone blue one at the bottom left with the split windshield.
i can't see enough to tell the brand or body type but it's definitely 1949-52 GM.

The mattress is the canopy above the gas pumps! Notice the lights on top. The 58 Ford is following the 56.

The mattress is the canopy above the gas pumps! Notice the lights on top. The 58 Ford is following the 56.

Doh, you're correct about the Mattress! There's a white car entering the intersection and heading toward the camera, that's a '55 -'56 Ford. The white car behind it in the same lane could be your '58 but it's blurry enough it could be something else. In the lane going away
I can make out a white '55 Chevy.

    I also see a 1956 Pontiac just past the parked U-Haul. How do I know it's a '56? It's
another chrome strip giveaway (mid rear fender).

    Mysteries-
-Going away from camera, just ahead of the two-tone blue '58 Chevy and behind a two-tone
    Plymouth (White/Gold) is a tall black car...is it a Shoebox Ford (49-52)?

-Far side of road going across is what appears to be a MoPar wagon, it's white/blue grey.
It has a very odd two-tone pattern. Dodge/Plymouth??

I see a pink and black 57 or 58 Mercury wagon (4dr HT version). I like those because the looks are so late 50's.
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,402
No clue on the tall black car, however, a 52 would not a Shoebox which were 49-51. The 52 is a completely different body style, and continued thru 1954.

You're right, my bad. I forgot that the Shoebox went out after '51. I wonder if that black car is a prewar design, it's really tall compared to the cars around it.

Still plenty of cars that haven't been called in that pic (apologies if I've missed anyone):

Heading towards the camera on the left: Blue car driving on road looks like a '58 Chevy.
Parked on left is a 1955 blue MoPar, I think it's a Plymouth. The pink/black Mercury H/T wagon on the other side is interesting. There were two different models of H/T wagons in '57-'58, the Voyager and the Commuter.

In front of the Merc is a white/blue '55 Buick 2 dr H/T, possibly a Riviera. In front of that
we see a '55 or '56 Mercury four post sedan which is behind a two-tone blue '58 Chevy Biscayne or 210. It's behind the mystery tall black older car which is behind a 57-58 Plymouth (white over grey-gold). Ahead of thati think is a '58-ish Dodge that's mostly white but has a dark lower side.

That blue/white Buick is a '56, I believe, Special Riviera model.

    And the Mercury blue-green is a 1954.

There's an unusual boxy Jeep like vehicle with a metal trailer behind it.
It has a logo on the door that I can't read.

Based on the shape the windshield it's a Land Rover 90 series II or IIA. Per Wikipedia:
    series II=1958-61, series IIA=1961-71.

I knew I'd seen that pic before. Search box found "1963 galaxie convertible" on page 1608. Magnette posted in november 2017 and said that it was taken from somewhere in Belgium.

I thought it seemed a little familiar too. Oh well. Must have been fun driving a 60 Ford in Belgium at that time.

Good get. It’s a ‘37. I just like the way these look, even though a lot of folks think it’s ugly.

It was probably designed off a car cabin, and those types of early pickups do tend to look awkward.

Yep, it's an Alfa-Romeo Arna, essentially a mid-80s Nissan Cherry with an Afasud motor that was assembled in a suburb of Naples, Italy. Some were sold in the JDM and other markets as the Nissan Milano (never mind they were made in Napoli).
This I believe was one of the earlier joint-ventures between major automakers, as you know it didn't work out.

I don't think either the Arna or the Cherry went to the US.
