Adding to the moral.
Failure is a failure, only when you fail to learn from it.

lark: that explains why you're always in a hurry, LOL.
Papa Bear's story reminds me of mine, sort of. My first semester in college I commuted, and managed a 3.7. That was with my dad telling me to study every day.
2nd semester I moved on campus. Freedom! Woo-hoo! I partied hard and enjoyed every minute. GPA went down to 2.7. Whoops.
Fortunately I settled in a maintained a 3.2 GPA after that, then a 3.4 in grad school.
Like the man said, it was good to learn the lesson early.

Happy Birthday Pat!

And, on a professional note, be careful with all those candles!
Cheers!

Cheers Pat.
Happy Birthday, Pat; Have a Guiness on me!
Kate, Congrats to you and your daughter on her incredible achievement. It's wonderful to hear that kind of news these days.
Serge
I have to admit though, I would not change the way things happened too much as it was a great learning experience.
After all, it helped shape me into the man who bought a Subaru and met evryone here!

Loosh: I didn't know what the "Happy fish of April" was until I did a little Googling:

Mark: I didn't know you went to Tech. Paisan and I went to Stuy. Let's hear it for the public school systems. I've benefited from high school all the way to grad school.
Ken
It's okay. I don't hold it against Mike and you where you went to school:-). I always felt a public school education is more rounded than private. That's an argument I have all the time with my wife.
Juice,
I've been searching for the article as well and can not find it.
Mark
April Fish! ;-)
I did both, private from 7-11th grades and public the rest of the time, including college. Each has its own advantages.
I think an individual who is more independent will enjoy the resources of a big, public school, while someone preferring personal attention would be better off in private school. At least that's my experience.

I sent a fax copy of the article to the email address in your profiles. If you can't read fax attachments, let me know a fax number and I'll send it again.
DaveM
Bob gets it before me, even though he lives in the Boondocks! Go figure.

In general, private schools will have more money to allocate to facilities and resources. However, you're also exposed to a much narrower slice of the population. Competitive public schools tend to attract a much more diverse student body that in itself is an education. Stuy offered one of the most diverse student bodies I've ever come across.
Not suprisingly, I feel you become even more well-rounded by going to both public and private schools.
Ken
There's still a lot to be said for Pony Express!

Received the fax. Thanks. Now the only problem is my co-workers are saying I should definitely be a spokerson for SOA :-)

I wonder how much of that is due to the incentive financing?
Mark
We should add that to the "You know you're a car guy when..." list.
Got that e-mail, too. Very cool to see 3 Crew members in print on the same page! A co-worker in Europe already noticed my name.

Personally, I have found OS X to be far more robust and reliable than OS 9 (my OS X systems have uptimes measured in months).

If I suggest buying something for the car on it's birthday, Rita will definitely think it is time I was in a rubber room.

Question: Do you wax the back of the wheels?

"Question: Do you wax the back of the wheels?"
Not yet, but I've been seriously considering it. Obviously you guys are affecting my sanity! The last time I rotated the tires there was probably a negative wind chill. I know, not a legitimate excuse.

Cheers Pat.

BTW, I never waxed the inside of my wheels, but I did use to wax the inside of my '63 VW's bumpers—seriously...

If you like that flavor of humor, check out Bank Swirled, a spoof of Bank's World. I could not get to the URL because they had exceeded their bandwidth for the day, but I got a paper copy. It's hilarious.
For example, last year they changed our motto to say "Our mission is to end poverty for ourselves and our families. Forever."
They also joke about raising the CAFE at the Bank to 9mpg. A few jokes about luxury cars in our garages here and there.
And they say "Printed on paper manufactured from original growth virgin mahogany tees clear-cut from Amazon basin rainforests".
I'll insert the standard statement that the above is satirical and not my empolyer's opinion, etc.
4 Subies and he's named "Dave"? Welcome home! Warning: when we ask for you, be prepared to have approximately 716 people think we're asking for them. ;-)

Now that the weather is warming up, I better go out and wax the back of my wheels.

Like Ed, my daughter was due on 4/1 but she surprised us and arrived on 3/17 (St. Patrick's Day). So, instead of being a Fool, she turned out to be a Lucky Charm.
BTW, it took me 12 yrs. to get my BS degree in Computer Science w/ a Minor in Accounting. Jeez, one more year and I would have tied Mark for the record.
