Reminds me, she's already got a K in her (last) name. The youngest honorary Crew member! Welcome her for us. :-)

Road trip was fun. Though I felt like I stepped into the Twilight Zone, because there was a Dave and a Mike there, and no Subies besides mine. They both liked it, though.

It is their destiny, resistance is futile!

Thanks for all the kind words, folks. Both Kana and I had a blast reading through them.

Also, thank you Town Hall hosts for the thoughtful card and gift. That will come in very handy!

Well, we've finally made up our minds on a name: Erina.

The correct way to pronounce it is with the accent on the 1st syllable and to softly roll the "r" similar to the way it's done in Latin languages. We're still deciding on the exact characters to make up her name, however so the meaning can change a bit.

Both mom and baby are back home from the hospital and resting. I'm still blown away by the fact that I'm a dad! The feeling of holding your sleeping newborn daughter in your arms is beyond words. I could do it all day.

Being the ecstatic dad, I wanted to share some pictures for those who might be interested:

she takes after her mom!

Ken: you da man, I can sense your parental enthusiasm in your words. Brings back great memories of my daughter's birth. You'll be an excellent dad, I have no doubt in my mind.

Erina is a beautiful name. The way you describe the pronunciation is exactly how I read it (Portuguese).

She's adorable! Daddy's nose, all the way. Although it ain't fair - she's got more hair than me and Bob combined! LOL

I could do it all day

Yeah, but let's hope you don't have to. I hope she's a great sleeper and has a good appetite.

Lovely photo! I know I don't drop in here often, but karen shared the link with all of us.

My first nephew was also born last Friday, just 30 minutes after your son, and 2 oz lighter. Post some more photos during all of your free waking time (20 mins?).

A New England Newspaper is looking to interview New England residents who own the Volvo S60R or Subaru WRX STi. Please respond by wed April 30 to sylvia@edmunds.com

Many thanks!
• ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
I don't think anyone has taken delivery of an STi yet, Sylvia. Not by April 30.

I have sat in one at a car show, that's about the closest you'll get by that deadline! ;-)

No dealers in MD have delivered one yet. COme to think of it, I'm not even sure the S60R is in the showroom yet. Someone in MA may be jumping the gun a little.
• paisanpaisan Member Posts: 21,181
The writer has seen some "STi" WRXs out there, you know the raced up ones! They probably figured if it says STi on it then they must be shipping. DOh!

Ken: A beautiful family! Thanks for the pic & the reminder - I flashed back to my first-born's first day, and how I took him for his first walk around the hallways of the maternity unit... a very slow stroll, because I really didn't want it to end :)

Cheers!

Pat: I'd be willing to split the cost of that keyboard, you in for the other half? ;-)

Bad news - some vandals spray painted my dad's Outback, now the Winestone Metallic has a red stripe in it. Let's take this discussions to GM&R, but I'd love to hear suggestions.

BTW. guys that time of year is approaching when I will going MIA. until the fall, we may be movin up in the next week or so.

Cheers Pat.

G'day

Okay, if Pat is heading off to the lake for summer this early in the year, we must be looking to a l-o-n-g summer in Canada.

If so, does it mean a long winter in Australia. maybe I should bring forward the purchase of the New Subaru. Should I stall for the Forester XT or go with another Outback?

Cheers

to a salesman from another company I am friends with. His Frontier 4 door has left him stranded 4 times now with an unidentifiable electrical gremlin. The dealer can't fix it and won't give him a loaner when it goes fubar. His wife's Forester has been problem free for 78K miles, so I think he may trade the truck for a Baja. We shall see.

and BTW...

WHERE THE @$%&@! is PATTI?! Are we going to have to launch a rescue mission to the dungeon?
• rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
Also, tell your buddy (you probably already have) that super deals can be had on Bajas now.

Bob
• ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Seems like you just got back from the last visit to the cabin, Pat. Time flies.

Graham: XT, XT!

I visited Fitz Subaru in Gaithersburg yesterday, coincidentally. I got there around 9pm and they were closing, so I didn't get to drive a Baja.

Interestingly, they have just ONE in stock, and it was a yellow one on the show room floor. They had actually sold out. Yowsah, that's a 180 degree turn from the initial slow sales.

The sales guy said the web coupon for $500 helped a lot, and there was another incentive, which he wasn't sure was being renewed. We saw prices dip as low as $20.5k, but the one in the showroom was $22k (auto). Tell your buddy to shop around, find out about the incentive deals.

I've been in touch with Patti. She's very busy at work, they've given her so many other assignments. I'm thinking we could start a letter writing campaign, I don't know if SoA realzes the value added she provides. Perhaps they could specifically allocate a portion of her time to follow Edmunds?

The Crew is a democracy, what do you guys think? We need to be very tactful about it, not get her in trouble or make it look like we're putting pressure on her management.

Opinions?

I would e-mail Patti, and ask her what she would recommend. The last thing we want to do is get her in trouble, even with the best of intentions in mind.

Perhaps she could even recommend as to who to contact over at SOA. BTW, I still have the business card of her boss (and he's a VP at SOA), whom I met last summer, if you recall. It has his e-mail address, direct line and fax on it, if you need it. If you want that info, I'll e-mail it to you off line, but I'd contact Patti first.

Here's what she said:

If folks do express themselves somehow to our company about it, maybe it will get their attention.

Maybe if we invited that person to Edmunds for a day. Right here in MTM, then we could all express our opinions, rather than bombarding him with e-mails.

• hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
juice, Bob, miksmi,
besides the invitation to visit Edmunds for a day, how 'bout giving that person the opportunity to MTM in the flash, say, Lunch?

I thought about a chat, but that's too hectic, and a much less controlled environment. Plus he could not copy/paste the text from it as easily.

Just read this on ZDNet's Anchordesk:
" But electronic AWD, used by such players as Subaru and Mercedes, is more elegant and flexible. " They are discussing how computers are used more in cars. It's nice to see we are up there with Mercedes.

We could meet them more than halfway, like 99% of the way, at Red Hot & Blue in Cherry Hill. It's right next door to SoA.

is Patti not participating because she has too many other things to (besides getting caught up from her long absence from SOA). or do they no longer feel that it is necessary for her to participate here. In other words, the Edmunds Crew has served its purpose, and it's time to move on?

I don't think Edmunds was ever "official" for her, was it? I think she was spending her own time on here.

• rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
there's no longer any value for Patti to hang out here, what's the point of even having the "Suggestions for Subaru" forum? That was set up specifically to help Patti (and anyone one from SOA) to gather info quickly and easily.

This troubles me...

Bob
• bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Thanks for your Auto Show package!

I can't believe that you got more brochures than I did. When I went on a Thursday night, they did not have the full Impreza brochure nor the WRC one.

This is the kind of thing that Patti would take care of.

-Dennis
• hypovhypov Member Posts: 3,068
I think Edmunds is quite official.

When they were beta testing the my.subaru.com, I'd suggested a board for owners to congregate. Their response then was that there were too many legal wrangles to deal with for a board within my.subaru.com, but they were very interested in an alternative. I like to think that Edmunds is the alternative, and Patti is just swarmped.

-Dave
• dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
I gave Ed the full Impreza brochure.

that Patti is spot reading the forums even if she does not have the time to actively participate (at least I hope so...).

Steve
• bluesubiebluesubie Member Posts: 3,497
Dave - Weren't you on the Outback/Forester forum years ago? A few people there tried to get SoA to do a forum and they said no.

DaveM - Well thank you!

-Dennis
• rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
I can understand Patti being really busy, but there area lot of people at SOA who could respond in some fashion. It's kind of frustrating to post all these future product suggestions, with the thought that nobody at SOA is seeing them, or cares enough to check in now and then.

Bob
• ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
The bottom line is I don't think they are aware of how much value Patti adds here, so she hasn't been able to allocate time, it's not an official duty. Maybe we can let them know.

I dunno, maybe they feel like they don't want a staff member directly in the line of fire? Trolls have flamed her in the past, though that is a tiny minority.

She's been kept informed (by me) and the suggestions are not going to waste.

Dennis-
Outback/Forester forum... I can't remember if I was on it.

Ed-
Lunch at Red Hot & Blue in Cherry Hill. We can invite the person there. Importantly, this gesture would show commitment of the Crew and its interest that SoA continue its participation.

• lark6lark6 Member Posts: 2,565
Dave - I got another Impreza full line brochure at my dealer and kept it, sent the one you gave me on to Dennis.

• dcm61dcm61 Member Posts: 1,567
Mine wasn't good enough for you? (j/k) At least Dennis appreciated it. ;-)
