Sounds like you all had fun though! There's always next week!

Steve: What a great looking kid!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...(Wife thinks I'm crazy).

Plus my company's delivery drivers are the biggest bunch of union protected pansy-boys I have ever known. I have already gotten the call that my deliveries didn't go, so once again Sales has to do Logistic's job
Just got done with pre-flight on Q's Outback. As soon as I finish my tea I'm off to the office, then multiple runs to the warehouse, and all over creation.
Swapping my RE92s for the SP5000s today, and maybe play in the snow.

Good news is the Dodge owner has insurance, neither of us got hurt at all, and I don't think my car will be totaled. Not a great way to start December, but the strength of these cars is evident. If I could only find a Subie to rent, but no luck with that here. I just want my car back, and they figure at least two weeks! I'm going to go thru withdrawal! Oh, well, at least no one got hurt. Would you believe the Dodge owner had just purchased his truck about 10 minutes before he hit me? But, no screaming, no yelling. It's just metal, plastic and glass after all. We both walked away unhurt, so that's something to be thankful for. I guess I'll worry about winter tires around Christmas.
So since this is a leased car, does anyone have experience in wether or not to get the lease company involved? Now, or at the end of the lease? I'm mostly concerned that it could negatively affect the residual at final lease inspection.
I have to keep repeating to myself..."no one got hurt, no one got hurt". Otherwise, this is just depressing.
I WANT MY CAR BACK!!
-Dan-
Does your neck hurt now that you've had a night to sleep on it? Surprising not to get any whiplash at all after taking that kind of a hit.
-Colin
It says alot about the team's determination, as you have demonstrated then and now. For the service and assistance you and the team had extended to me, who can forget. Whenever the weather mentions Nor'easter, I am pleasantly reminded.
-Dave
p/s the Reps should identify their team when corresponding with customers on phone/e-mail/snail-mail.
Yep, he's not going to like paying for it. The guy has a $500 deductible, and is just being transferred out of state for his job. I know he doesn't need to be paying that, but he says he'll deal with it.
Nope, no whiplash. I'm thinking the active headrest did it's job. The way it's set, it would likely bruise the back of my head rather than whiplash. I'm feeling just fine...the mid back was a bit sore last night, but some heat on it helped. No problems this morning.
-Dan-
Sorry to hear 'bout the incident.
Whiplash? That sounds like quite an impact; glad no one got hurt.
Al'Gator was rear-ended by a Toyota Camry [I think] during my first six month of ownership, IIRC. Not a scratch on him. The Camry on the other hand, Al took out the its grille, headlight, and fused the radiator to the engine.
-Dave
I'm also curious how this works with a lease. If you find anything out, let us know.

Rental company is contacting the Dodge owners insurance company to see what they pay for...compact car, something comparable? Not sure yet. No Subies for rent, though I didn't expect there to be.
Collision company figures at least 2 weeks. Good company, I've used them before on my wifes car. Hoping they can fix it to new condition.
When I look at how much taller the Dodge is, I'm surprised it didn't run right over me. He says he was braking, thank God, so it could have been lots worse. No skid marks on the road, where the speed limit is 55, so I'm guessing everyones anti-lock brakes worked. If he had hit me doing 55, I'm sure it would have been much worse.
-Dan-
We got about 4-5" at home, but DC is warmer so it's been mostly rain, no accumulation. I was bummed because my daughter's school was closed and she wanted to go sledding, and I had to work.
Dan: sorry to hear about that. Yours is new enough that I would demand OE replacement parts.
A while back my Miata was hit by a brand-new Saab 9-3, temporary tags and all. Worse yet, it was the owner's father driving, trying it out. Oops.

Dan - Glad you're ok. Yeah, you shouldn't have any problems at lease-end as long as everything is repaired properly. My WRX wagon went back into the shop after I caught a few things the insurance adjustor missed.
-Dennis
edit: Ooh, look. 3D. :-D
Hope my trip to the garage later for the SP5000 swap would be uneventful on the RE92s and no "Dodge Ram Hemi" encounters.
-Dave
It's coming down pretty hard in Manhattan right now; just hope it sticks. My co-workers think I'm nuts for wanting snow. Then again they think I'm nuts about Subaru's anyway, especially since I started hitting them up for donations for the 48hrs run.
Mark
And watch your rear-view mirror!
Dan, sorry to hear of your news, but glad no one's hurt. Good to know he's a stand-up guy with insurance, too.
We were rear-ended by an immigrant with forged papers when our Forester was 1 month young. Completely fooled us and the police, who spoke fluent Spanish. Fortunately, no serious damage, so I ended up chalking it up to experience...
Did what I could, filed a complaint with the State, but never heard if anything came of it. Could have been much worse, but probably would have been handled differently if it had been (and we would have caught the forgery in time).

Bob
I was remembering your story last night, while they were hooking up my car for a tow. Yep, glad no one was hurt, but no, it's not fun.

-- well, plastic veneer office furniture, actually.
but I haven't been in an accident in quite some time. I have however been rear-ended a number of times and seeing it coming is far better than being surprised in my opinion. being able to brace yourself, or look for a way out, is useful.

During my layover in Narita, I grabbed the latest issue of Best Car magazine.
This issue had a comparison test of nine different sport cars with automatic transmissions including the new Legacy B4 with H6. Why auto? According to the article 95% of all vehciles sold in Japan today have ATs!
Anyway, the vehicles were all over the map:
BMW330 Cabriolet
Subaru Legacy B4 (3.0 H6)
Toyota Caldina GT-FOUR
Audi S4 Wagon
Mazda RX-8
Nissan Skyline 350GT Coupe (Infiniti G35 Coupe)
Alfa Romeo 156
Mitsubishi Lancer EVO
Honda Accord 24TL (Acura TL)
The Legacy B4 did consistently well in the tests:
Handling: 3rd after the EVO and BMW
Braking: 1st(!) beating out the S4 and BMW
Acceleration: 5th
Engine responsiveness: 4th after S4, G35, EVO
Engine feel: 3rd after S4, BMW
AT Tranny shift quality: 4th
Fuel economy: 5th
Interior quality: 3rd after S4 & BMW
Ride quality: 2nd after S4
Driving comfort: 3rd
Rear seat room: 1st
Cost performance: 1st, beating out G35 and TL!
If anyone wants to read the original Japanese, let me know. :-)
Ken
Best of luck.

North East folks - Saw some news clips about all the snow you're getting. OK. I'm jealous. Of course I don't have a Subaru yet, but I did just get my skis back from having the "first day skiing of the season" 5 inch gouge fixed.
-Ian
Steve - great pic.
Ed - newborns are pretty easy for the first couple of months...
Kens - without weighting any categories, best score would be 9 (1st place in everything), worst 81. The Legacy scored 35. Was it second to the Bimmer?
Jim
Oops, my bad! I forgot to mention the final rankings. Each vehicle received a score for the categories mentioned above. The maximum in any category was 30 points. The maximum total attainable score was 330.
The final numbers were:
S4: 321
Legacy B4: 300
G35: 298
BMW: 287
EVO: 278
TL: 236
RX-8: 219
Caldina: 214
Alfa 156: 199

Turns out the car only has 34,000 kilomtres on it and it looks brand new in every respect, the story is the car had been rear ended when it was only a year old, the owner lost his nerve and parked it was never repaired. This guy heard about and bought it for $2500CDN, spent another $2000 CDN for a new quarter panel and Bumper cover and tailamp.
He has what amounts to a new 94 Turbo for $4500CDN he has already turned down twice this amount to sell it, I crawled all over and the car is totally mint in out and underneath.
Cheers Pat.
I told him he will be waiting for a while I told him I planned on keeping Titan for another 7 years, said he did'nt care when I am ready to sell, the Titan is sold, he also said if I take half the care of Titan as I did the Accord he will very happy to buy it, talk about feeling proud of all the praise.
( talk about planning your future :-)
Cheers Pat.
New tires, Jon. Whatever tread is left is probably hard, dry, maybe even cracking. VW and Audi now recommend that tires more than 6 years old be replaced no matter the tread remaining.
Sweet, Pat. The US state of tune was very conservative, apparently with lights mods those make serious numbers. And it's such a sleeper...

Plus, the treads are not even that bad, since its mostly highway driving and I religiously rotate them. They're just not very good in the snow. I see a set of Nokians in the very near future.

Also saw a Forester in the ditch, bass ackward, an 97 south, and a FWD Legacy a little while later. Then a Civic, and then a Ranger. So it was a fun drive. We had decent tunes and made pretty good time, it was blowing like crazy on the Bay Bridge and snowed all the way to OC.
Sunday was recover, local touring and light shopping. Today was medical exams for the babies & first round paperwork for the US Consulate.
Our friends back home reported 16" in our driveway & had it plowed for us, plus did some hand shoveling. I didn't get the driveway flags in (500' driveway with turns) before we left, so god knows how much lawn got plowed along with the blacktop. But it was a nice thought, none the less. It is pretty comfortable here in the sub-tropics.
If Juice wouldn't mind hosting, I may send in another photo. Beth took it while we slept, so I cannot be held responsible for content. It is something that I would only share with a few hundred of my closest friends. ;-)
Steve
I'm off to work now myself. See youse at lunch! :-)
Sorry about my "distraction", work, that is.
Yeah, Steve, send all the pics you want.
Unheated terminal? Wow. Sounds like you're having quite the adventure! I swear, the adoption process prepares you for parenthood, in the same way pregnancy does. I'm watching my friends go through the same, it's challenging but at the same time it's so cool to see how much the child is wanted.
