We are getting the 12:45pm ferry from DE to Cape-May, so that puts us in there about 2pm.

That's just it, she refused the minivan but now she wants me to get one. Only reason that is "fair" is that I have the Miata. Bah! I'll stall until I see the new 7 seater, at least.

Graham: I like the cool shower idea. Thankfully, my kids don't get car sick. Man, that would break my heart if they did! She's the future WRC champ, first female to do so! ;-)

Patti - Haven't driven it as much as I would have liked. I took a quick blast up some hills near my house and it was fun. Even managed to keep it at under 4.5k. I'll be putting on a couple hundred more miles with a trip to Cape May this weekend.

Mike - I give you a call Sunday afternoon. Maybe I could meet you guys when you arrive in Cape May. I might on the beach waving. :-)

OK. I've got to quit reading the F-XT board. It's making my wait for the GT Wagon too damn hard. Next week cannot come soon enough. ;)

juice - I guess we need to form a new club. How does FXTESG sound? That would stand for Forester XT Envy Support Group. ;)

Patti, Dennis and Frank - Congrats on your new drives. You can now refrain from any more positive reviews of said vehicle (pictures are OK though). ;)

Am I ever glad I really love the Titan otherwise I would also be green with envy.

       Cheers Pat.

"To be honest, I'm perfectly happy with Sandy. It's the wife that is putting pressure on for us to get a bigger vehicle, and the XT wouldn't address that concern. The new SUV would. The new Legacy/Outback might."

Well you know how that got resolved in our household. The XT is still at the top of my next-car list, though once in a while I have the nutty thought of forcing myself to remaster an MT and pop for a WRX STi. My hobbies and, to a lesser extent, my work require cargo space, so that thought usually passes.

Leather is a near perfect match for the interior. Not that you can really tell but the inserts are perforated.

I posted a couple of outside shots in the photo gallery so you can see the tint.

P.S. The light was fading fast. I'll try and get better photos tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm glad my wife would kill me for buying another car, otherwise I'd be green with envy too!

I just realized that it's just after midnight, 2004 in Australia! I hope you're having a fun safe time as I write this. We're looking forward to another year of your fun and insightful post from Oz!

All hail the first meeting of the FXTESG. My name is juice, and I'm in envy. It's been two months since my last test drive.

I guess I have dual membership, the OTFC is still thriving, despite a couple of humpty-dumptys that had great falls (into XTs!).

Ed: once in a while I have the same thoughts. I could get my wife the 7 seater, then trade in both of my vehicles for an STi. But naaaah, I just couldn't, could I? ;-)

Frank: schweeeeet! I love it! I've always liked the two-tone interior, black/gray, and your seats match it perfectly. Also, perforated and heated is just about ideal.

Honestly, it looks even better than the stuff I saw on what's-her-name's Forester. On her headrests you could see the seams where the stitching was done. Yours looks more custom fitted.

Starting Step 1 of the FXTESG program...

    (also a Finding Nemo reference)

Find a happy place, find a happy place, find a happy place!

    montreal1: Merci.

Frank: That really looks nice! Perhaps you could save the info on colors, vendors etc. for *ahem* future XT owners? I'd like the same look but, if feasible, covering the seating surfaces in alcantara (a/k/a Ecsaine in Subiespeak). If not then perforated leather is the way to go.

    juice: I hear ya.

Enjoy and Happy New Year to all!

Uh-oh, Ed's scaring me. We need you on The Fence, it's getting lonely here!

Any Automotive Resolutions out there? For yourself, or for Subaru?

Self: get off The Fence. At least make a decision, if not a purchase.

Subaru: keep it real. No GM clones. Boxers only, AWD only. More VTD. More AVCS. More turbos, and not just for high priced models.

juice: If "on The Fence" means waiting for an excuse to buy an XT, I've been on it for some time. I would like to see if there are any changes to my liking for '05 (i.e., VTD, Sportshift, different colors) but I have my doubts about those. Likewise with baby in the house I need to be more prudent with finances; but I recognize that I should still trade the '00 while it still has decent enough resale value to put a significant dent in the down payment (a/o/t my last car which basically paid for the '00's options).

The Fence is being undecided about which model Subaru to get, XT, Legacy GT, Outback H6, etc. I think you're on it. ;-)

(support group responds to Juice & Ed) Hi Ed! Hi Juice!

Yep, OTFC is for anyone contemplating a new Subie. Sure, most are those stuck on which turbo to get - Legacy or Forester or WRX. But, by being 'in envy', you become OTF. Doesn't matter if you're really 'not' shopping right now for a new Subie. It could mean that in a heartbeat you'd switch your current Subie for a F-XT.

Originally, I was one not sure of which model to pursue. But, I know (ok, fairly certain) the F-XT is less expensive than the new Legacy will be and will be more 'family' oriented to me than a Legacy sedan would be. That's important now with 2 kids sharing the backseat. So, I've decided for a F-XT, it's just a question of when. I have plenty of time to decide as well. Plus, I guess I too am holding off a bit until we know if the PP makes it to the MT. But, I wouldn't mind doing an aftermarket moonroof and leather, especially after seeing Frank's interior.

In fact, from what I can gather, my Outback was about the same price as what I can get a F-XT for now, including using the IMBA discount. Same price, more fun 8), more power, new vehicle, what's not to like!?!?!

In most cases the aftermarket leather is better than factory, if you order a genuine Katzskins kit it is much better than factory.

      Cheers Pat.
  • p0926p0926 Member Posts: 4,423
More photos up over in the gallery. I tried not to go too overboard but you know how it is...

FYI: Anyone interested in aftermarket leather, Katzskins' Dark Graphite and platinum are almost perfect matches for the Forester's interior.

    -Frank P.

P.S. Happy New Year to everyone!

If I did not know better I would say I saw your Legacy coming out of the Walmart at Copperous Cove On the I90 in TX.
Same colour in mint condition and WRX rims.

Go nuts, Frank, we XTESG members have to live vicariously through you. ;-)

Oh c'mon, Bob, you'd buy any Subie as long as it could TOW The Fence! LOL

Got a router installed at home, now 2 PCs hooked up. My 4 year old was monopolizing our PC! Next step, wireless G. And that's so I'm ready for Detroit, in case I can find a wireless signal somehow. :-)

    G'day

Well, thinking of you folk winding down 2003, I have just been and inspected 2004. Looks very similar to the 2003 model with sunshine, light breezes, a full refrigerator and good spirits.

My 10 year old daughter is off on a big adventure, heading off 2000km with friends to stay on their newly acquired macadamia farm. She and heir son, a budding entrepeneur who can see the opportunities in everything, are soulmates. He dreamed up the idea, sold it to his mother and father, who, like us, laughed. They already have four kids and the implausibility of squeezing one more in seemed uproariously funny. Two weeks later, I found the two mothers figuring how to make it work, with the argument being that one more kid is only 20% more strain (dodgy maths there) and anyway, she is good with the littler ones. I hope they are able to cope.

That means that we have two weeks of relative peace with our 7 year old son, who will revel in the attention. Not sure what the dog will think though. She sepnds long hours wrapped around our daughter, being part furry pillow and part amiable companion. She may be lonely.

Hope everyone's 2004 starts as well as ours and stays that way

    Cheers

May the new year bring you peace, joy and turbo's!! Be safe and smart - watch out for the other guy because I'm sure the folks here would never drink and drive - right?

To 2004!!! (lifts my cup of tea to you all)!

I guess I could indulge now. Hubby's sleeping already and the kids all are at friends having parties. Just Maggie the dog and me! Maybe I'll brew up one for myself to welcome in the year.

    Thanks for the tip, Bit!

    Happy New Year, y'all...
I have to put myself to bed early tonight - catching a zero-dark-thirty airplane for Greenville/Spartanburg, via Seattle & Memphis. My uncle passed away this morning, and I'm the designated representative of the west-coast family contingent. Needless to say, the happy is kind of gone out of my new year, at least for now.

    Recipe for a nightcap:
Equal parts Bailey's, Kahlua, & Crown Royal... over ice!
It's called a 'duck fart' in these parts...
    Quack Quack!

Cheers, and all the best to all of you in all of 2004!

You shouldn't let the "happy" to be amissed.
Be only sad that you'll miss him, but be happy for him that he's at a better place. :)
