and better than new. I have to give Classic Car here in Baltimore big kudos! Even in the showroom, I noticed that the Java Black bumpers were significantly inferior looking compared to the sheetmetal- orange peel texture, dull, and hard to see any "java pearl" effect at all. It's not a drastic difference, but the OCD club would notice. Pete at classic uses a 2 stage process on flexible bumper skins, including an additive to the paint to help it adhere and bend. I guess he used whatever paint would be used on the sheetmetal, because now my front bumper looks as good as the fenders it is attached to. I am very pleased!

Looking for a '97+ 2.2L motor for my dad's legacy. Apparently the rod knock on it and the waterpump failure are gonna have me just swap in another 2.2, should be a 2-3hr project once I find the motor. So keep your eyes peeled for a 2.2L motor with under 50K.

We have all been moaning about the price of gas lately me as much as the next guy.

I got this humourous e-mail today which puts it in perpective.

Last year for those was 2001, I believe. The 2002 Impreza got the 2.5l standard.

    Check out F&S:

I want a car that runs on *tap* water, extracts the pure oxygen for the cabin to I can breathe 100% pure O2.

Then use the hydrogen for the fuel cell, independent motors at each of the 4 wheels for symmetrical AWD of course.

The exhaust is warm water, so it would store that until I got home, then I could pour that into a reservoir hooked up to my water heater.

Carbon dioxide exhaled from the passengers would be gathered and then released directly into my vegetable garden where my award-winning tomatoes would break state records at the county fair.

    How's that? :-)

Point on evian water, spell evian backwards and what do you get.

Loosh Glad everything worked out do you have money still in the budget or is that blown to hell?

      Cheers Pat.

meanwhile, my M3 is BACK in the bodyshop after numerous attempts at the first place and those idiots can't fix it right.

the new shop (BMW dealer, who has worked the car before) was like  when they inspected it.

Sorry to hear that didn't realise you were having problems with the repair.

      Cheers Pat.
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Now I'm certain you have to ask for references and even ask to see a paint sample for body shops.

it's taking forever! Kickin' it SHO style? I got lucky; it rained Sunday, so none of those accidents had been settled yet; the shop was anticipating a lot of business 4-5 days hence, but were pretty idle when I got there. Gave them the car on Tuesday and I had it back Friday

Hey Nathan, welcome to the Subaru Crew.

Congrats on the new Outback. Let's see, you mentioned silver IIRC, base model with the cold weather package.

Stick around, we'll help out if any issues creep up or if you have any questions about your new car. We even have SoA representation here so you know you'll be taken care of.

and work computer won't access the chat for some reason so yet again the "maybe next week" bites me. Was easier when I was still with Subaru and that computer would let me hit the chat from work.

Welcome, Nathan. Other than a few Edmundsian quirks you've found the best Subaru group on the web.

    at the chat ... lol

we were on spring break and took a ROAD TRIP!

we left on Friday, April 2 shortly after noon - drove from South Bend to Indy, and through Terre Haute to Ill ... through Illinois, Missouri, the corner of Tennessee, a bit of Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana to get to Fort Polk on Saturday night to see my daughter and her family who were in Hawaii the last 3 years ...

(Hint: if you go to Leesville to see someone in Fort Polk, do NOT expect to find a decent hotel/motel room there, drive about an hour away to Nachitoches or Alexandria to find a place to stay!)

We were there a couple nights, then on to Texas with a quick stop to see my brother (who is NOT the person I was raised with ) ... on to visit my parents, then to see another daughter and her family near Houston .. friends .. and even an overnight in Galveston at the hotel at Moody Gardens which is gorgeous ... shopped at the boutique there which is run by a friend of the friends we were with ... lol

we ate lots of good seafood (which we don't have here!), some good Mexican meals, steaks and barbecue ...

short visit with b/f's sisters in east Texas and left Texarkana on Saturday morning - driving straight through to South Bend ... about 13 1/2 hours on the road ...

the b/f is a 'believer' in Subaru after an incident on a Houston freeway .. I usually drive in Houston, but he's driven in Chicago, etc ... so I wasn't worried about him handling the idiots in the traffic ... we were heading into the main part of the city where all the highways intersect, when a truck in front of us tapped his brakes and went left leaving us staring at the butt end of a 'dooley' dead stopped .. he hit the brakes, took a quick look right, and went for that lane .. we'd have never been able to stop in time .. the anti-lock system kept us from skidding, the low center of gravity kept us from overturning in the sharp maneuver, and the AWD straightened us right up in the lane ... we were fine except for quick-beating hearts!

anyway .. good to be back !

Glad to hear you had a real good trip by the sounds of it. Also glad that you did not become one them thar statistics.

    Nathan: Welcome!

Brenda: sounds like a nice, relaxing "short" drive. Glad to hear you had fun.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday, and hopefully had enough to eat.

    Nice save there Brenda. :-)

We left NJ Saturday morning and had a nice drive down. Took I95 all the way and the traffic wasn't too bad heading South. I think more people were off last week.

Light traffic (for the most part) and great mpg's. First tank was 23.6 and second was 24.5. That's even through NC's posted 70 mph speed limits. I could have easily done better with a lighter foot. ;-)

The seats felt a little more comfy that the Pittsburgh trip a few months ago. Maybe we're getting used to them, or they're more broken in.

Put the VisionPlus bulbs in today. I was going to put the Stonguard fog covers on but the fit doesn't seem right. HAL works perfectly in A/C mode. I wished heating mode worked as well.

    That's all for now!
