Drunk Guy- come on you $^%%@~!s, play a legitimate rebel tune!
Lucien- Why, are you a legitimate rebel?
DG- What the $%!)*! is that supposed to mean, you little #$@!-sucker?! *belch*
Lucien- If you're willing to go over there and start shooting random Protestants or blowing up British soldiers, go ahead. I'm sure you'll get to hear plenty of rebel tunes while you're at it.
Lucien- oh, Mr. Bouncer? I believe this gentleman has had one too many carbombs. *sproing*
....or something to that effect. It was a few years ago. And you know what? Get 'em talking, and you'll find out that either A) they have no idea what their family history actually is, or
Meh. Don't get me started. Oh wait, you already did. :-)
San Fransicso to LA is rather longer than I'd care to ride so I hope you are taking the scenic route and enjoy the views. I did the trip in reverse the oppsite way with my wife 15 years ago (in a Ford Taurus) and we still love the memories.
Worthy cause and good on you for doing it.
Cheers
Graham
Did you play a gig this year?

Good luck with this! 585 miles by bike, even over a few days is a lot. From your training log, sounds like you are off to a good start. Its nice when you can combine something you enjoy (cycling) with raising money for a worthy cause.
Too many hills though:-)

Lana was pregnant at the time IIRC, so it must have been about 2 years ago. Actually it was when Ken came to visit.
Are you still playing Irish, rock, or a mix?

I was flipping through my local paper and in the main section was a full page ad from Subaru with the new tag line.

We're out every weekend (even this past weekend in the driving rain!) and spending our lunch hours sitting on the bike with the hopes that, with enough training, we will actually be able to focus on the scenery along the way from San Francisco to Los Angeles, rather than the pain of turning those pedals over all day long! We're making these sacrifices for those who are unable to, and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be in a position right now (financially and physically) to take time out of our lives to help.
Again, thank you both for the kind words!

A friend of mine participated in that ride a few years ago. He said it was one of the most memorable experiences in his life. Not only was he able to contribute to a worthy cause, but he said he'd never been in better shape after training for the ride. The support along the way is supposed to be phenomenal.
I hope you enjoy every pedal of the way from training to finish.
Ken
Juice- not much rock these days. Although I am playing bass for a guy who might get a contract. That would be an interesting career change- wine salesman to touring bass player in a rock band.
I couldn't do it - stay away from them for long.

Don't be surprised if you see him posting directly from the show, as he just got a new Blackberry.

One of those days. The first time for months when I am around and available for Chat and the computer plays up. Java has been problematic lately so have had to reload and by time that was completed, the chat was over.
Just had Good Friday celebrations. I'm treasurer of a large local church and some folk up the street from us host an after Church coffee and hot cross bake for a couple of hundred church members who flood their home. They have a well eveloped systme where entry is gained by a packet of hot cross buns which are whipped into the oven. The home owner drives the oven hard and everyone self serves their coffee.
One guy does quality control on the finished product, checking regularly as he butters mountains of buns. Coffee and chat flow freely and after a couple of hours peole drift off to their homes or other commitments. Something of a community highlight. I ended up doing dishes for a fair while, keeping cups flowing back into circulation.
The kids play pool or bounce on the tramploine and the older folk sit around the lounge chatting while the in-betweens stand wherever they fit.
Unfortunately, I ate som many buns that lunch doesn't appeal

You and Beth are in my prayers. You'll have to bring the family out the next time you come to the left coast.

She did well, but the Dr. described it as a very diseased organ. The question is whether cells escaped. Got to wait for the full pathology report to know what to do next. Time to get some sleep........
