Which States are "no fault?" Last I heard, "no fault" means sky high rates for everyone. Nobody has any huge incentive to avoid at-fault wrecks in "no fault" States. Results fairly predictable.

If a Civic was painted the same red as that TLX, it was a respray. The TLX paint is a similar metallic premium paint like on my ATS or Mazda’s Soul Red. Civics usually offered a solid red that isn’t metallic.

Maybe things have changed, but it always got me, you get colors like silver or a metalic blue...on a KIA, Honda, Toyota, Chrysler, anything it is the same price....get those colors on a BMW or Mercedes, pay $800 extra for it!

The BMW's and Mercedes generally give you a much better paint job than the Kia's and Honda's and Toyota's and Chrysler's of the world.

Not sure it has a specific name, but I already got the car fixed through my insurance and letting them go after his insurance. I knew it would be a nightmare since he was claiming innocence the whole time. I did pay my $500 deductible, though. And, since I've dealt with this kind of thing before, I know it counts against me as long as my insurance company had to pay. It's all a scam.

Collision insurance should pick up the bill regardless of fault, but that's not the same as "no fault". I think in this case, if the car is insured by collision, Geico should pony up the money right away and then try to recover from the trucker's insurance on their own. That's what happened to my coworker - he was hit and nearly totaled by a lady running red light , 100% her fault. His collision picked the bill up (without future rate adjustments) because she had very small liability limits. Whether they get any money from her insurance or not, is not really his problem now. I'm surprised that Geico is making qbrozen wait. It shouldn't be his problem if they recover the money from them or not.

No fault laws exist, but they often have very small limits. Florida has $10k for injury and $10k for property damage, hardly covering real damage or real injury.

Just picked up my car after the B1 service (24 months or 20,000 miles). Bill came to $1088.00 including taxes. Remember, I've never kept a car long enough to have a major service done.

Looks like I will be seriously looking at less expensive cars to maintain this next November. I might be more interested in vehicles that include 3 years of maintenance. That Genesis G80 is looking more and more interesting.

No fault doesn't mean everyone is not at fault. It means your insurance company pays you promptly, and then the insurance companies work out who was actually at fault....usually using police records. In my case, the driver of the large truck caused the accident, he was at fault, my insurance company makes sure I get a rental, medical care etc....they fight it out with the other insurance company to get compensated. It should cut costs, as it forces the insurance company to get things settled.

But the cost of the PIP (personal injury protection) insurance is outrageously expensive here in Florida and it is only $10000.00 coverage. I think I pay $295 every 6 months for that junk. The legislature has attempted to overturn the no fault provision, but the ABA (lawyers) have lobbied against its demise for obvious reasons.

I don't like the A and B Service plans. You get charged for them checking your locks and latches are oiled, that your gauges are working, check all fluid levels (which they did when I got my oil changed), that your signal lights work, etc. I am sure all that stuff works fine on a 2 year old car. It probably just needed an oil change and filter. But, maybe you have to do it to maintain the terms of the lease.

I think in Florida more people don't have insurance than the one's who do. On Hot Bench most of the people involved in car accidents don't have car insurance......they forgot to get it renewed, didn't get a warning letter, were going to do it the next day....etc. I like the one's who have the accident, then go and get insurance after the accident.

Yes - all required maintenance must be completed as listed in the maintenance schedule - as required by the lease.

A lot of people would not have spent that much on maintenance on a leased vehicle.
When I was looking for a car, plenty of off lease cars had little or no maintenance on the carfax.
The dealer is going to be happy when you turn it in.

Thanks, OF. It shouldn't, she told me the woman that caused it was apologetic and open about her fault. So, likely her insurance will be dishing out the $.

If I understand how all this works your GF will be paid by the driver who actually hit her and then his insurance will go after the woman responsible. Also be prepared for the apologetic woman to change her tune when she sees what this will cost her. I hope there were police at the scene that can attest to the woman’s admissions.

My impression of "no fault" costs savings was under the general idea and premise that insurance companies accept that they'll all have equal numbers of at-fault and not at fault clients. Therefore, instead of arguing every case, they are all 100% liable for their own clients. This is how it saves money (except for the unintended consequences of no-fault).

If the Insurance companies battle it out after paying the consumer, I don't see how money is saved. If anything, they are losing money, because in States where they get to "battle it out" before paying, they delay payment (more interest income for longer).

My guess is Geico in the above case is delaying payment because the other party hasn't contacted them. They don't like to close a case until each side has had their say! I think people are beginning to take advantage of this policy, and ignore their Insurance companies calls. It could be from a *WINK WINK NUDGE NUDGE" recommendation coming from insurance. Ignore all the calls, then we'll say the claim "couldn't be verified" so we'll deny the claim on those grounds

Uncooperative client becomes the injured parties problem.

Can you tell I've had claims denied for various different reasons before?

Good carpet cleaner. Does a really good job and sure beats renting a Rug Doctor from the grocery store. Very simple and easy to use. Push forward to clean, pull back to dry. We have a lot of carpet in the house, so saves the ole jipster a.lot of $$$.

Will it clean your car interior too?

I imagine they could inform the folks at their neighboring headquarters, their friends, the IRS about your "debt obligations."

The IRS is very good at sending demanding letters with big numbers on it.

As I stated above, an uncooperative party (won't communicate at all) gives an insurance company an excuse to both delay and deny claims. You'd think there'd be laws against this, but....Insurance

Well, I didn't even think about that. But, yes, it comes with about an 8 foot upholstery hose with attachment tools.

We have one of those. Works well but not nearly as good as “the guy”

Very convenient though for quick cleanups.

My latest declarations page shows PIP at $60/6 months, it’s alway been around this number, since I remember. I have no idea why yours is so high. My highest portions are in liability, both injury and property, those are about $140 each for 250/500/100.

Not sure I follow. My car was repaired. What would I be waiting for? My deductible? Do other states/companies excuse the deductible while awaiting arbitration?

Dino, my insurance premium for a 6 month policy on my S450 is $1,167. That is for:

250/500/100 liability
100/300 uninsured/underinsured motorist
$5000 medical
$10,000 PIP with $1000 deductible
$500 deductible Comprehensive
$1000 deductible Collision
$45/$1500 for car rental
Towing and labor

The above premium is the lowest I could find. I have no tickets, no accidents, etc. it's because of my zip code - we share a zip code with west Pompano Beach (I live in Coconut Creek) a city with higher crime and accidents. If my zip code was a Coconut Creek zip, my premium would be $350 less every six months. My FICO score (which insurance companies use to determine rates) is 826, 817, 812 - (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian). I drive 8000 miles a year. So even though I have all the positives for insurance calculations and underwriting, it's my zip code that is killing me.

Some dealers will just flat-out gouge you. Several years ago my BMW dealer performed an Inspection II(AKA the 60,000 mile service) and a brake fluid flush on my wife's X3 for just $374. In contrast, Santa Monica BMW charged$1105 for the same work(I called and checked). I realize that the cost of living in California is higher than that of Kentucky, but 295% higher?

what a rip off. I barely pay more than that for 12 months, for 2 cars, full coverage. Not as fancy of yours of course, but still a new one that is not cheap.

I wondered the same thing. That's why I called my insurance company and am letting them handle it.

The threat is something about collections department, legal fees, blah, blah, blah. I can't remember the last time I got anything in the mail that I really wanted - other than Amazon's use of the USPS. Maybe Kramer was on to something when he wanted his mail canceled.

My FICO score (which insurance companies use to determine rates) is 826, 817, 812 - (TransUnion, Equifax, Experian). I drive 8000 miles a year. So even though I have all the positives for insurance calculations and underwriting, it's my zip code that is killing me.

So I have same liability, lower uninsured (25/50), no medical, basic PIP, no deductible, 500 deductible on both collision and comprehensive and lower rental. Premium is $595/6 months last renewal after large $140 discount for full payment, a bit higher then prior cycles. My 430i is not S450, but not quite Kia Rio, either. Maybe it’s age? Maybe it’s trading cars

Go figure.

I wondered the same thing. That's why I called my insurance company and am letting them handle it.

The threat is something about collections department, legal fees, blah, blah, blah. I can't remember the last time I got anything in the mail that I really wanted - other than Amazon's use of the USPS. Maybe Kramer was on to something when he wanted his mail canceled.

I hate the mail... nothing but credit card solicitations, flyers I don’t need and the occasional medical bill

A lot of what I get in the mail these days, maybe a majority (excepting flyers/advertising material) is solicitations from charities, who obviously swap lists of addresses from which one of them got a donation. Lately their strategy seems to be to send unsolicited "gifts", things like address labels (I suddenly have several lifetimes supply considering that I send maybe two pieces of mail a year), greeting cards (which I never use), calendars, notepads, cardboard drink coasters, reusable shopping bags, pens, gloves, even something last week that looks for all the world like a pencil case like I used to take to school when I was a little kid but which I have no idea regarding its intended use. The other thing many do is attach a shiny uncirculated nickel to the solicitation as if that will guilt the recipient into sending them a donation. I now have numerous nickels. I would happily cut all of that off.

Same here with all the freebie stuff. I'd say about 7 or 8 years ago some charity sent us a new quarter. I've already spent it, didn't want any evidence hanging around that I got it. The way I viewed that outfit is, they have too much money already to be giving away money like that and didn't feel the least bit guilty about spending it either. The only bad thing that came from that is I'm now off their mailing list at least for quarters. :@ And yeah, we have more return address labels than we'll ever use. Wish I'd live long enough to use even half of those.

They must be smoking the good stuff in a nearby city. This, they say was a stolen BMW being chased by police which crashed into a building killing the driver. Second such crash in two weeks.

I may just stay in until spring.

On a 5 minute drive to the market just now I witnessed bad driving the likes of which make me doubt that humanity will survive.

One guy took a left turn in one lane of two left turn lanes, drifted over to the other lane and the drifted back as if there was no other traffic around. He then gunned it and tailgated a car as we all pulled up to a red light. Where did he think he was going?

Then as the light turned green a RDX just pulled from the far left lane, cut me off and continued to the right turn lane without signaling. I gave him/her a perfunctory toot although I suspect this driver wouldn’t realize it was meant for him.

Then, as I was at the entrance to the market, the car in front of me did a right on red almost slamming another car that had the green light.

I’m getting afraid to go on the road with the number of reckless, clueless and aggressive drivers out there.

I feel that way too these days, the less time we are traveling the better my chances are of surviving. Lots of them get me but lately I notice cars that are going to turn right don't use the far right turning lane, they prefer to stay in the right driving lane and make their turn from out there....and of course only a small minority think to signal.

The drivers here, in large part, do use their turn signals. However, it's when they are using their one free hand for the steering wheel to brush the turn signal lever AS they start to turn the steering wheel for the turn. No advance warning per law.

Where's' the other hand? On her phone.

Ohio has been using their interstate overhead digital information signs to give pithy short sayings.

Recently one said to do your camping in the state parks instead of the left lane.
So,
I suggested save the tailgating for the stadium pregame parking instead of on the highway.

They asked for suggestions. I doubt I'll ever see mine on the sign. LOL

That's pretty sexist isn't it? But I have agree, for some reason the women seem to be the biggest offenders. If I'm going down for saying that, since you put me up to it, you're going down with me.

I stopped worrying about the lunatics on the road. I do what I can to stay out of the way, but if one of them wants to smack my car, go for it. They can total either one tomorrow and I don't really care. Will just get a new one!

I do have an interesting philosophy to live life by.

I try to do that too....but, I am very defensive these days. When I see cars racing up from the right....from a side street or a gas station, and they assume they won't be stopping, I am ready to swerve or stop. They actually jam on their brakes and look surprised they will have to stop!

I don't want to go through all the red tape and inconvenience of getting my car repaired or replaced.

If a Civic was painted the same red as that TLX, it was a respray. The TLX paint is a similar metallic premium paint like on my ATS or Mazda’s Soul Red. Civics usually offered a solid red that isn’t metallic.
I assumed it was a respray. Just was sitting in the sun distracting drivers from the road ahead
Maybe things have changed, but it always got me, you get colors like silver or a metalic blue...on a KIA, Honda, Toyota, Chrysler, anything it is the same price....get those colors on a BMW or Mercedes, pay $800 extra for it!

And they will keep charging that extra price as long as people will pay for it.
