Still no concrete news about my Enterprise job. The woman in charge went on vacation till next Sunday. The guy who interviewed me has not returned my phone call nor has the HR person. So, just sitting and waiting for the final o k so I can sit with my boss at Hertz and work out an exit strategy for when I finally leave for good. Since he gave me off the week of December 23rd, feel like I should stay on a bit, maybe a couple days/week, to keep the group in tack. For how long or even if he'll agree, have no clue. But refuse to just resign without all my ducks in a row. Anyways, what happens if I in fact do get the new position but find out after a week or two that it isn't the right job for me. This way, I can still go back to Hertz if they'll have me. But doubt this will happen as I really think I'm gonna really like the Enterprise position to be honest.
Find it always bet to leave a job the way you came in, quietly with no drama, thank you very much! Best to leave on great terms just in case something does happen and I want to come back.

he told you Kia is coming out with a new smaller CUV version of the Venue? Just read the C&D test on the Venue. Cute. Short. Not sure you are going to like the leisurely acceleration, with 0-60 in the 10 second range.

here is the new Kia. Looks to be based on the Kona, so a size up from the Venue, and can get the nice 1.6t engine with real HP. I like the looks of this one.

That does look good. I find I prefer most Kia vehicles to their Hyundai cousins based on the same chassis. I wonder though why the article didn't mention the Niro? Isn't that also a CUV?

E isn't too loaded, not my color choice either, no lighting package would make it tough for me, but it is the "luxury" trim, which is fairly rare, probably under 10% of total volume. Nice miles, but these are depreciating hard, probably an OK deal.

TA has to be 100% overpriced.

I think normal TAs weren't turbocharged, so must be something special. No way I'd pay anywhere close to that, though.

Here is a good one for you all...

Had a VM on my home phone from Hyundai Finance last night to call them about my 2017 Elantra.

I didn't call the number they gave but the number on the website this morning just in case it was a scam. I asked what the call was about, and she said Dispo fee.

I said, OK I'm prepared to pay it but you never sent a bill.

She confirms they never sent a bill. BUT ... Mr TJC78 you can pay it right now with a CC.

I said no, please send me the bill so I have a paper trail. I asked if I could pay online but they disable that once you turn your car in.

Hope the new job works out and maybe you can keep some these with your old one too yes best to leave on good terms like you came in agreed. you’ll have to look at those two cars and see what you like ultimately I forget the name of it too but saw a video other day from the show about it

Hate to admit it, but my wife owns several combat weapons for her martial arts training. LOL.

115k miles on that 2015 just means it has 5k miles left in it before it explodes like mine. BTW, I'm thinking that maybe the noise I'm hearing is a rubbing noise. Like as the nose dips, something rotating is rubbing something else plastic or rubber. Haven't had too much time to investigate. Its not keeping me from driving it, though. I have to say it is a lovely highway vehicle. Comfortable and quiet.

I got fixated on a CX9 today, thanks to Mazda dealer sending an email touting .9% financing for 60 months. If they would knock $5k off the price, even better!

Maybe it isn’t too big? Nice car, for exactly the same sticker as a 2.0t limited Santa Fe. Though Mazda would be a touring, with a few less gadgets, pretty comparable. Though definitely bigger.

Should go at least sit in one! We did like the CX5 but it was a bit pokey and not super roomy.

We are DINKS with a lab at this point. Don’t need that much space! A little extra cargo room is fine as long as it doesn’t drive like a barge, so I am fine with a “tweener”.

Well just checked and it’s bigger than I thought. 199”x78”, vs 179x73 for the CX5.

The problem with the CX9, for me, is that it is a Very Large Vehicle without the usable space that should go along with a VLV. Actually, much like my Q7! My Q7, however, beats the CX9 in three ways:

    1. MUCH better fuel economy
    2. Front door shape that doesn't make it nearly impossible to enter/exit the vehicle without doing battle with the A-pillar.
    3. Far better utility in terms of raw grunt.

To be fair, 1 and 3 are largely due to the diesel powertrain. :D

Makes sense to me, @suydam. What is your lease buyout?

May be worth seeing if GM will negotiate the residual down a bit. They frequently don’t, but if you don’t ask, you don’t get.

Saw a white used Volt the other day at Drivers Auto Mart, where we just opened up a small Hertz office. It was jst sold but looked in and just like every Malibu or Cruze we have. Nice size vehicle though so I can see what the appeal is. Not ready for an electric vehicle quite yet buy a hybrid would work very nicely. Waiting on either the Seltos or Venue to make their appearance and then go from there. The Ioniq by Hyundai is something I think I could live with very easily but no hatch, something I do like. And thinking that I do want a 2020 model but could easily wait till a year from December as I try to purchase at the end of the year if possible. That last week of the year is typically one where folks have shelled out so much for gifts, a new vehicle is just not on their to do list.
So, we'll just see how things go. One never knows. Once the new Kia comes out, I might be so in love with it that I pull the trigger. I just don't know. But the immediate plan is to just stay the course. Wait and see if Enterprise is indeed my new home. I should know something by either Monday or Tuesday I'd think and then, we'll see.
