My bigger problem? Nose prints! They're all over the place. Plus I have tint film on the windows so I can't use Windex to clean the inside, just water. That can be a pain.
Sounds like fun, Ken. How are the roads?

Sounds like a neat trip. Shanghai Motors (GM) pumps out quite a quantity of Buick Century's, and the locals think of them as the epitome of American Luxury. Nanchang was stuffed with them.
Steve
That didn't even occur to me. However, I've used that trick countless times after our Lab takes a ride and can't recall ever getting shocked.
she's so excited ...
Are you still coming out to the left coast next week?
Jim
Reminds me, I have to call my Godson. :surprise:

The plan was to fly the body back to NY for burial in the family plot up in the Catskills, but with Miami in ruins, everything is on hold. What a mess.....
Steve
DTC, or Dossier to China, is a major milestone in the process. Congratulations to them! You have full approval from the US side, now you wait for China to respond. I hear that the cycle time for receiving the 'referal' (a tiny photo, location info and health history) is running about 8 months now, with travel maybe 2 months or so after that. It is a very long pregnancy, considering dossier prep and US approvals probably already cost them half a year.
Steve
Yes! Sorry... I will get an e-mail off with details. Week after next.

Hope we hear from our Crew in Florida soon.

My condolences to Beth and you on your loss. Here's hoping things improve so that the family can be together at this time.
Mark
How is Beth doing BTW?
Cheers Pat.
Thanks
Stan
Their other daughter, along with Beth and I spent considerable time helping them out when they lived up here. But as they got beyond the point of being able to live alone, everyone urged them to consider assisted living in a warmer climate. They only agreed to go if it was 'temporary': that they would be buried with all of the rest of the family. Now this.... Beth is heartbroken.
As always, we very much appreciate the thoughts of the Crew.
Steve
Condolences to your family and prayers that Beth's uncles wishes are honored.
Jim
Bob
You and Beth hang in there. Here's hoping everything works out for the best.
Mark
Perhaps SoA will reconsider and send her back to us. Hope so.
I do keep in touch and she's been well, FWIW.

The roads there are mixed. Major streets and highways tend to be good, if not better than some of our pot-holed roads, but smaller side streets can be quite rough.
My same friend who lives there owns and drives a local Chinese car. All foreign registered vehicles get a different license plate, which according to him, makes it less likely to get pulled over by local police.
Ken
Sorry to hear about the loss. I hope everything turns out okay.
Buicks are still quite common, but I think other brands are quickly surpassing them in terms of luxury. In Shanghai, I saw quite a few Audis and a couple of BMWs.
Looking forward to your trip out here.
Ken
Here are some photos of our back yard...multiply this by the whole city (pop. 130,000) and you get an idea what it's like; no damage to the house though; hurricane code in South Florida is the strictest in the country.

Steve,
our sympathies on the passing of Beth's uncle. Hopefully, all else is well after the storm.
Let us know if you are coming down.
Guys, thanks for your thoughts.
Serge
Coral Springs looks naked without all its trees. You can see places you never knew existed and gas lines abound. So far, only one traffic light is working, though people are actually being polite at intersections and taking turns.
A couple of years back we lost power for I think 8 days, and lost a freezer full of food. That was terrible. I remeber driving up to PA, where Ed (lark6) drove me around looking for a generator, still could not find one, even out of town and beyond the effect of the storm.
This is why I've hinted that I'd like to see any hybrid that Subaru does include a generator. One that can at least power one fridge.

Maybe you floridians should plant trees with deeper roots? (Although we have trees falling down here in Washington all the time, even without Hurricaines!)

Chat's not open? What's up?

edit: looks like there's an Audi chat tonight...
Glad to hear everyone is safe. You guys took quite a punch. Beth's aunt is still holding down the fort in Tamarack (a few minutes south), and still without power or phone.
Steve
i just looked at the clock and realized that it is 10 minutes PAST time for chat .. i just lose all track of time and days lately .... life is too busy ..
sorry about the hurricane damage serge .... looks like the basic house is ok and that your shutters did their job!
Glad to hear/see that you folks made it through okay. Looks like that must have been lots of fun to go through.

Audi highlighted their new AWD system that now carries a rear bias by default, like Subaru. It goes on about them being pioneers and blah, blah, blah.
VDC has had a rear bias since model year 2001. 5 years later Audi is a pioneer.
LOL
They take a gentle poke at Subaru by calling is Asymmetrical AWD. Though they're refering to front to rear, while Subaru for the most part refers to side to side.

PS Mercedes, BMW, and Infiniti also have rear drive biased systems
