Thanks, Drew, for keeping everyone informed!
And now here's the fun part....in a few days, I will be moving (don't get your britches in a twist!) all of the Subaru Crew discussions into your own folder. Yes, it will still be listed under Owner's clubs, but you won't be lumped with the other existing Owner's Club topics. They also will have their own folder. In fact, I'll be create the folder, but won't move anything yet. The Isuzu folks have been begging for their own board, and I've promised to get them set up asap.

And I decided to experiment with the CSG folder first. I have a meeting to go to now, but will do my best to get back here today!

WRT testing, we did test for quite a while before the move. But as Karen said, with about million posts to move over (dating as far back as 1997), some bugs are to be expected.
WRT topic search, the problem is that it is searching for your keyword in the discussion titles as well as the messages. That's why it seems as if there are many irrelevant titles coming up. This is being dealt with.
WRT the login problem, if you return to the main TH welcome page to switch through the different topics (ex. Vans, SUVs, sedans, etc.) instead of using the topic dropdown list, you should not have any problems since it automatically logs you in again. I've been doing this for a few days now and haven't had too many problems. This timeout issue is top priority on the "to-be-fixed" list.
WRT the subscribe feature, the old templates are popping up sometimes. Again, another issue that is being dealt with.

The only complaint we had was the delivery experience, which I wrote to Patti about...too long for the board.
Anyway, she took Michael and I for a drive...nice car..meanwhile, the car will spend soome time in the garage until I sell my 94 Altima, then take ownership of Susan's Camry wagon.
We would like to wish everyone on the board a Happy Hanukkah, Mery Christmas, etc and pass on our wishes for a happy and healthy New Year...
Cheers,
-wdb
Thanks.

Delray Subaru is where they conscendingly said to Susan that they could build her any car she wanted...we walked out. I don't know how their service department is. We will most likely use Eddie Accardi Subaru in Pompano Beach. Their service guy was a Subaru service manager up north. Delray is approx 25 minutes from our house and Boynton maybe 35 minutes; we are in Coral Springs. I appreciate the offer...Let me know when you move down....
Those of you living in Canada, do not miss this week's episode of Motoring 2001 on TSN, this Thursday at 9:30pm Pacific. The all-new Subaru Impreza + rally!! I'll see if I can post a teaser clip later on.

The Forester hasn't been perfect (and I won't get into the details again here) but its combination of cargo hauling, excellence in foul weather and on bad rural roads, and "fun to drive" factor are making me a Subaru convert. True, I like others experienced the dreaded wheel bearing failure, but SoA (Patti and Susan, you out there?) with help from Darlene at Qsubaru (you too, Darlene?) saw to it that the repair was carried out properly. Attention like that goes a long way in encouraging repeat ownership.
I've only made one modification to the car so far (18mm Impreza rear sway bar), but that helped significantly. Maybe if I see my way clear I'll add a Stromung muffler from Rallispec next year. That'll likely be it for mods until the warranty expires, but having all your experiences to draw from is a bonus in deciding what mods to make and not make. Juice, your "Sandy" in particular seems to be a rolling test bed for Forester mods! (Thanks again for posting my Studebaker pic on your page - the Forester will continue to do yeoman duty hauling parts until that resto is done.)
I'm off to the swamps of SC until the 28th, so happy whatever you celebrate to you all!

I also want to say thanks to everyone for all the advice since I starting posting in these forams.I hope to be a happy sube owner shortly.
Cheers Pat.
So much snow, that it was almost a complete white out condition. I couldn't see where the road was, but my instincts told me where it was. No tracks, just faith.
I stopped the Outback in the middle of this road, got out, and looked around. I don't know how to describe the scene I saw, but this is one Christmas I won't ever forget. Everywhere I looked was white. There was no land, no sky, no horizon, no trees. Just white all around me. Absolutely quiet. Completely white. Likely one of the most incredible things I have ever seen. I felt like I was in a dream, but I've never even imagined anything like this. It was beautiful, surreal in a way I can't describe. A gift from nature that awed me and made me thankful for being alive to experience it.
The car was great, and I give credit where its due. But what's important is the experience. It's not how many toys you've got under the Christmas tree or the balance in your bank account. Memories that last a lifetime, transcend lifes finer details. Cars, houses, money, power. All these things rust away sooner or later. Memories that last a lifetime, never fade. They keep their strength for your lifetime.
Ross
Hope you are having a great holiday!
Here in the wilds of PA we already have it! In fact I have to keep an eye out for chunks of ice and whatnot falling from the roof; it appears as though the dreaded ice dams are forming again as a result of our extended cold spell in combination with the snow.
Total has been about 6", most of which is still around here on the hill I live on but mostly gone elsewhere. The roads and parking lots are clear for the most part, so the "fun" of driving a Subie in winter has diminished. However the "security" of driving a Subie in winter is still fully operational.
On Christmas Day I was talking cars with my brother-in-law. He went on about how often he "needs" "four-wheel-drive" where he lives (central NJ) and how it would not be justified. I told him that AWD was not 4WD, and that a properly setup AWD system improves traction and handling ALL the time - not just on snow. He looked at me like I was from the moon. Odd, because his youngest daughter had recently totalled a car (she was thankfully not injured) by losing control in mud from a construction job that had been tracked onto the road by trucks. *sigh* Maybe I should point him at some reviews of the AWD Porsche 911 Turbo.
Cheers,
-wdb
Where do I start? I could mention I've had fresh squeezed juices from fruits you probably couldn't pronounce, that is when I'm not drinking fresh coconut water.
Snow? Are you kidding? Try peak summer, very humid, 90 to 100 degrees (F).
Life is pretty nice. The baby is loving the beaches, hangin' out with her 3 cousins, and everything else. We're just chilling out and trying to keep up with her.
Saw a Subaru Vivio yesterday, first ever in person. Tiny car not meant for US customers, but interesting nonetheless. I've seen one Impreza GL (kind of like our L, but FWD), and two Legacys, both GLs, one wagon and one sedan, also FWD. That's it, though.
Gas is about R$1.65 per liter. That is painfully expensive - about $3.24 per gallon for regular in a country whose minimum wage is less than $80 per month. I think more than half the cars here are 1000cc or less.
Soobs are VERY expensive here, only the very rich can afford them. It's kind of funny to be in a country where a Mercedes sells economy cars and the Outback is put in the full-fledged "luxo" class.
Interestingly, they do have Forester Turbos, and yes, the new Impreza turbo is available here now, for the exact same price as the Outback, or about $37,500 USD.
Patti - tell SoA that a Turbo for the same price as a base 5 speed Outback would be fine with me!
What else? There are some truly hideous cars here. Renault Twingo - are they serious? Scary ugly. Pretty much all small Renaults are. So are the the Peugoets. Citroen makes some interesting cars, mostly their names, really. Xsara, Xantia. They should make the Xanadu!
My older brother has a Chevy Vectra 2.0 GLS (there is no Opel here) and a Fiat Palio Weekend (yet another synonym for wagon) 1.0 i.e., which goes from 0-60 in about 3 months.
My other brother drives a Chevy Blazer, with a guzzling V6 engine the operating costs are scaaary. But it costs half what an imported Forester (near-luxury here) costs. The Blazer, Vectra, and Palio are made in Brazil.
My mom is driving a rust-bucket Fiat Uno 1.0 i.e. (in other words?) For Xmas the three of us chipped in and we're getting her a Fiat Palio. Yeah, yeah, warm and fuzzy feeling time.
Any how, it's a shame Subaru doesn't build cars here. Roads are AWFUL so you NEED a raised suspension like the Outback and Forester offer. Foreign cars are taxed to the high heavens, so a Forester Turbo (170hp but good torque) costs the same $37,500 as the Impreza Turbo (218hp) and Outback (156 hp on bad gas).
Thought you folks would like to know that from this perspective, you all drive extremely high-end luxury cars with enormous engines over twice the average displacement in Brazil, that if affordable would be pretty much ideal for the unpaved roads and beaches outside of our cities.
Lastly, I thought I'd drum up a Christmas song (those of other faith please pardon my self-centeredness). Sung to "Walking in a Winter Wonderland"
It's so hot...
Yes I know, man...
There is sand...
Where's my Soob, man?
Our gas is so bad,
The roads awful too,
but screw it because it's Christmas and I'm tan!
Peace to all of you, your families, friends, and may 2001 bring all the joy in the world.
Oh, and an Impreza Turbo wagon for my garage. But that's all.
-juice
also realized that the impreza wrx will have to come in around the same price as the outback, because otherwise its going to be competing with another turbo with awd on the market in the same small body class. only thing is the other brand is considered upscale and holds much more sway with the haughty. anyone care to guess?
-mike
where the hell is juice, anyway? I must have missed it...
