    I liked the look of that 41 Dodge coupe - never seen one of those but 41 wasn't a good year for overseas imports here unless painted matt and fitted with a turret or similar

    I assume this was taken in Baltimore as it came from a Baltimore Sun website but I've lost the details.



    I tried posting this earlier today using Firefox without success but this went straight in using Safari

    Apart from the obligatory 60 Fords - one passing another - I note the Studebaker Hawk and the laissez faire attitude to kids seats in that big wagon - which I can't identify as it is open

    62 Ford wagon, Country Sedan I guess, parked at right just ahead of the 60.

    That Galaxie is the "Town Victoria" model that I somewhat like.

    57 Chevy ahead of the open rear wagon, and a late model Rambler wagon in front of that.

    Is that a Canadian Ford next to the Mercury? The side trim doesn't match. I see a 1958 Meteor Niagara with trim sort of like this, but that's a low line model and does not have a 4-door hardtop like this one.

    White car next to the Mercury looks like a 58 Edsel 4 door HT (a Pacer, perhaps), odd in single tone, repaint maybe.

    That Pink Mercury has no whitewalls and I don't think it has a Continental kit either...

    Surviving cars now would have both I suppose...

    Across the way above the Mercury roof is a 59 Buick four door - perhaps a LeSabre

    Thanks - I couldn't work out what the wagon was at all... I thought the Townsman and its relatives were fairly narrow cars but I think I am basing that on having never seen one really

    Pic is a bit blurry to be certain but it reads to me like an Oldsmobile.

    Lovely red gen 1 RX7 up front. Next to a weird Renault (redundant, I know).

    Blue and white healey really sticks out. Volvo 140 wagon a few up from that.

    Far left, a pinto with a big haul box on top. I’d worry it would tip over.

    I don't recall ever seeing an Accord like that with a vinyl top. Renault is a 17, sold stateside for maybe 2 or 3 model years in the mid 70s.

    I'll pick off just one, white Subaru next to the Volvo (which I suspect might be a 200 series).

    I associate the black trim with lower line 200 series cars.

    Speaking of those, I recall when I was a kid, around 1989 or so, a relative had a late 70s maybe 245 wagon, in a pleasing green color. It was a local car, but had rusted out oddly - at the hood hinges. Maybe a poor repair of some kind, I remember my dad saying it was going to be a difficult fix. The hood wouldn't align properly at the rear.

    in front of the brick wagon, a silver Mazda GLC. I looked at those back in the day. Really liked it. should have bought that instead of something else I bought.

    left row middle, another brick Volvo (4 door light green), and 1 down other side of the row, what looks like the nose of a yellow/orange Mustang Mach 1.

    It does need whitewalls. I’m not a fan of Continental kits, hanging dice, dual rear radio antennas, spotlights, etc. Keep it factory and nicely equipped.

    Continental kits look like a good way to lose any chance of parking in normal streets but to be honest your cars of that era were large enough to have zip codes so times were different

    Nowadays I find the problem with parking is that cars are all larger - I drive a Ford Fiesta which is the smallest car in our street and it is visibly wider than the previous generation - it's the same with VW Polos that are as large as five year old Golfs and don't get me started on Minis....

    Trouble is, I park in a street where we have buses and cars threading through and no off road parking at all so every couple of years one or other of my neighbours gets a nice red stripe down the side of their car courtesy of London Transport buses or something

    USDM care similar. Modern Civics and Corollas are early 90s Accords and Camrys. Heck, I suspect a new C-class is like a W124 E-class, especially in terms of mass. BMW bloat might even be worse.

    convertible is a Rolls-Royce Corniche which was around for much of the 60s/70s. This is a late version ca. mid 70s( ?)w 4 headlights. The red Beetle is a 60s version that looks identical to my 1965 1200
    Type1.

    Yep, that engine is the Chrysler Australia Hemi 6. That photo is of the top tune option, 265 cid and 301 hp gross, triple Webers and tube headers. Originally planned for the US as the slant 6 replacement around 1970, abandoned here, adopted by the Aussies. 215 and 245 cid versions in a fee states of tune were also made.

    Wonder how my ‘72 Duster would have done with that 265! Quite an improvement over its 198 cid 100 hp lump.
