    The other terms aren't as friendly. Plus, you pay the same sales tax in VA, no matter the length of term, so going shorter does not help.

    Thank you for your help as I am new to this and trying to learn as much and as quickly as I can.I guess I am having a tough time figure out what's best for me in terms of residual value, lease term and MF.

    I only have control over lease term and I see that 33m is better though I don't understand why, when in VA the tax is on selling price so it is the same.

    I don't think I will drive more than 10k per year, with $0.15/mile overage even at 2k extra miles per year over 3 years, it will cost $900 which seem acceptable to me considering other costs.

    As with MF, as long as it is not expensive like CX-5, putting up MSD could definitely make things easier.

    The lease terms are in fact better for 33 months, but the issue is that in VA, you pay tax on the entire selling amount.

    Assume the sales tax is $1600 - over 36 months, that's an additional $44.44/mo added to your payment; for 33 months, that amount jumps to $48.48/mo. For a car that you will be returning after 3 years, you might as well lessen the pain as much as you can.
