If it is just $1500 upfront, most of that will be allocated to payment, dealer and DMV fees. You can't apply it all to CAP cost reduction

m working with a car broker over text message on a lease deal in SoCal on a 2021 A4 45 Premium and wanted to get your opinion on whether the quote he’s giving me is solid or if there’s more room. Unfortunately he’s not giving me all the facts and figures yet but working backwards with a lease calculator, it looks like the selling price on the $44,590 MSRP car is discounted about $4,840, including the $750 lease cash applied. So it looks like about 10.8% off MSRP including the incentive or 9.2% off MSRP excluding the incentive.
Can I do better? The lease monthly payment he quoted me on a $44,615 MSRP car for 3 yr/36 K miles with $0 due at signing (all fees rolled into 35 payments) is $499/mo plus tax or $546/mo with 9.5% tax. I know the payment sounds high for the lowest trim level of the A4 45 (261 hp engine) but I didn’t want an artificially low monthly payment by paying $3K or more at signing. So $499/month is higher than the 1% rule but that rule generally applies to deals with $0 cap reduction, so about $2,000 or so driveoff for acquisition fee, doc and registration fees plus first payment.
