    Yup,Toyota FJ45 (aka Land Cruiser). I don't think the pickup version was ever officially sold in the USADM. Too bad, it would've been a huge success.

    Yeah, I think so too! Very cool machines; sorta along the lines of the old Jeep Comanche. I have never seen an FJ45 in person.

    The guy who posted that picture of the Mews garage - on Flickr - thought it was a Mangusta too - and they did have at least one in London because I saw a dark blue oneinabout 1976 when I was a student. - might even have been that one - who knows.

    Those Mews garages were just used be little repair shops, builders and various craftsmen in those days - until the prices rose... They are all residential now but manure listed - ie protected against development -- the ones in that picture were probably from about 1750 /1800 and would have been stables and servants quarters

    I knew someone who rented a flat over what would once have been a stable about two roads from Lancaster Gate on the north side of Hyde Park and although I don't know what their rent was when they left about twelve years ago the flat was sold by their former landlord for nearly two million pounds and it was not really anything better than a basic one bed flat...

    That blows up very bigly but it's still hard to identify cars. On left a yellow '59 Plymouth taxi and a 1960Ford on it's right and '58 Cadillac a ways behind it. On right, "60-ish Rambler wagon heading out of pic. 2-tone mid 1950s Caddy facing away.

    @fintail - yes your photo from your phone that is a MK II Austin or possibly Morris 1800 - hence the longer boot compared with the Mk I which was the stubbier one like the Wolseley.

    Regarding the Landcruiser pickup, I believe those were indeed sold as USDM vehicles in the late 60s.

    Amazing how the fins actually look better on the wagon the way they were blended into the tailgate than they looked on the sedans.

    I have been to many car shows this summer already and seen a thousand to fifteen hundred or more cars here in the midwest. Not 1 1960 Ford. I went to a 4th of July show that had 677 cars register (some stay a while and then leave after a few hours through the day), and I surely saw 400 or more there. Not a single 1960 Ford. Several 1960 Chevrolets beautiful as they are.

    The Ford wagon is, I believe, a '56 as well.

    Yes, both older Fords are MY 56, the Customline County Sedan wagon, might be a Ranch Wagon since it’s a two door, and Sunliner convertible.

    I think quite a few wagons look good, maybe why the "longroof" is kind of a trendy thing today.

    In that pic, I notice the lowline looking Rambler has dealer plates, maybe a new car on a test drive or demo.

    This picture was taken in about 1961 and the location is apparently Rochester, Kent - it's the "trade- in " area of the local Rootes Group dealer
    Most of the saloons are generally recognisable but one interesting beast lurks in row two

    Front right: Hillman Minxes, as is the car on left ("immediate delivery") White car in middle: Sunbeam Rapier. i'm usually good at Brit sports cars but have no clue on the roadster in second row with a split windshield and upright grille (Daimler?)

    1960 Electra, sharp. Only the more deluxe hard top was the 225.

    I think the other rare car there is that Minx Estate (Welcome to Rootes) - it's years since I've seen one of those.

    The sign about the tyres is nearly right too - only is 33% tyres on that car

    Yes, Richard III was found under the site of this council car park in Leicester having been buried there in what was then the grounds of an Abbey, I think, following his defeat at the battle of Bosworth in 1485...

    His remains got a proper funeral in 2015 .

    (The things people will do to get a parking space...)

    That odd car in the Rootes line up is an Alvis TB 21 drop head coupe - 31 were built to this pattern in the period 1948/53 or so.

    to the left of it is a Morris Oxford MO - the one with the revised grille from about 1951-53

    I think I saw more of the Vega panel cars, not the Kammback (sp?) than the base 2dr Vega coupe like the red one in the picture.

    Maybe even 4 foreign cars - way in the background right, parked near a building, I am pretty sure I see a white Volvo 444/544. Right and a little closer to the camera, a white 60 Cadillac convertible.

    Yup there's a white 544/444 in the way back. 3 more to go.
