I think it might have been about the only European 8 cylinder in series production - MB wouldn't have a V8 passenger car for several more years.
Never thought about it that way but I think you're right about that and the ad speaks to it. The 507 was like several interesting cars of that era a brainchild of Max Hoffman, the American importer/distributor for several Euripean makes.
The Wikipedia article has lots of interesting factoids about the BMW 507 and the pep[le who owned them. The most beautiful Bimmer ever built nearly bankrupted BMW.
On the left border, a 1952 DeSoto. As to the Dodge dealership photo, anyone recognize the guy sitting on the car?
It's Lawrence Welk, a band leader who had a weekly TV show that was sponsored by Dodge. His show was much loved by much loved by the WWII generation but for suceeding generations it was pure Schmaltz.

Corvair wagon looks like a spaceship from the future in between that battleship Caddy (a 59?) and the 1940s antique behind it.
Holy nostalgia, Batman. That Corvair is exactly the wagon version of the 4-door I once owned. Same year, trim level, and colors (both exterior and interior). Mine had a 4-speed, and somewhere in its past someone had leaned on the engine some. My mechanic said it was the only Corvair he had ever driven that would chirp the tires. Man was it fun to drive.

What;s the car closeest to camera? Looks like an import but I can't place it.
The greenhouse and white steering wheel suggests a Falcon. Only thing I can't resolve is the body-color center post between front and rear doors, which I thought had bright trim if the door frames were also so equipped.
Further digging suggests perhaps a '61 Buick Special, but I can't resolve the color of the steering wheel.
At Elliot Buick I agree the car in the foreground is a Buick Special or maybe Olds F-85 variant. There's another one in the background under the cover.

Go Cart on the roof of the Corvair and what heck is that you can see over the top of the roof of the Cadillac?

It is indeed the first Holden badged car - the 1948 model 48-815 (not exactly a catchy title but it was sold initially just as "Holden" )
We didn't get these in the UK although there were odd ones registered here - I think possibly from the Australian High Commission
They did sell some in various outposts of Empire like Kenya and I think also in Malaya and the Pacific islands like Tonga and of course NZ
I see a VW Microbus back there, too.
