It had random carb issues. Often it would run poorly as if on two cylinders. It also liked to eat front brake pads as the rotors were mounted inboard where they stayed hot. Dad's Renault company car was more reliable, lol.

At that point he was the cousin from Provo. I think he had fellow students at Brigham Young University joining him in prayer for it. Didn't help.

Oh yeah, the front disk pads sound familiar. Two cylinders was a fairly good day. Oh, and it barfed its transmission a couple of times. He stuck an AMC dealer with it in trade for a bottom feeder Gremlin the color of Welch's grape juice. He loved it.

It's hidden in that pic but it takes an awkward dip downward at the back edge of the cab to actually line up.

I’ve mentioned this before by my uncle with the 58 Bonneville had to have the builder increase the size of the garage to properly fit the car.

"Ordinary sedans started reaching unprecedented lengths beginning about 1957 so garages built during the 20s 30s and 40s couldn't hold them.

I used to have a place in an"active adult 55+" community in Arizona that was built during the 70s and 80s. I noticed that full-sized pickups (there were many) had to be parked outside. In most places this wouldn't be a big deal but in AZ it means exposure to high levels of heat and ultraviolet radiation.

When my parents bought their new house in Wales 1961 they had one car - a 1959 Sunbeam Rapier

By 1963 Mum had another car - a Morris Mini Minor.

The garage was only long enough for the Rapier so that garage never got shut again as the Rapier stuck out by ten feet thereafter.

Here I keep my Magnette in a garage just around the corner from our house and park our Fiesta in the street.

The Magnette is narrow by modern standards and so I can open the drivers door fully though the passenger door is not openable then ( I always back in as it is easier to get the car back out if I come out forwards )

When it was away being fixed last year for a few days - replacing the passenger side front floor - I tried to park the Fiesta in the garage and found that it was wider - mainly the mirrors which of course fold in but still stick out a bit, and being a two door the drivers door was much longer than the MG one so I couldn't comfortably get out of it.

Its a big problem as local authorities here seem to still plan parking areas to fit Ford Anglias or Triumph Heralds - but of course most people who live in suburban London feel the need to drive a Range Rover or whatever go to the shops so people would have to resort to gymnastics to get out of those when - as they always are - the car park is full.

The black Imperial looks regal, ‘Do you know who I am’ ? Both the Imperial and 60 Chevy look so much more modern than the 57 Chevy or 56 Ford.

The Imperial looks like a 1958 model but some '57s got the four headlights early. Can anyone tell us if that's an Imperial Crown or just an Imperial?

Looks like a 1956 Ford Ranch Wagon (only 2 doors) behind it.

Lacking the Imperial side script behind the front wheel well and having the small Le Baron badge there makes it a Le Baron.
1957 or 1958? The 1958 had circular parking lights so 1957.

It is indeed a 1961 /2 Humber Vogue mk 1 and is in New South Wales

Here that car was badged as a Singer Vogue at that time

Behind the 60 Chevy maybe Volvo 544. Behind that almost makes me think 60 Edsel, but there's not a lot to go on.

Regal Imperial makes me think "We're the ones in the Imperial and WE'RE running last?!".

Ford used Ranch Wagon and Parklane in 56. Based on the “Fairlane “ chrome side, I agree with exployerx4 it’s a Parklane. The Parklane was the premium two door model.

It's not an NSU, it's THE NSU, the RO80, their most advanced design ever. A product of the late '60s the RO80 featured rotary-power, fwd and state-of-the art aerodynamics Unfortunately high development costs bankrupted NSU forcing them into the hands of Volkswagen Group where most of the technical advances of the FWD Volkswagens and eventually AWD Audis were based on engineering pioneered by NSu

Looks like Grand Central Parkway or Northern State in the NYC/LI area. There's a '60 Ford Galaxie going away from camera in left lane. It might be the newest visible car. The oldest are 1949-52 MoPars,
a dark one @ lower right and a mid-color wagon about 3/4 of the way to top on right.
The car on lower right appears to be a wagon w tailgate window open (bad idea, hard on hinges), just ahead of '59 Chevy. It could be another 1960 Ford.

That could be an MG Magnette just ahead of it??

    2001 BMW 330ci/E46, 2008 BMW 335i conv/E93

  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,510
Wagon with the open rear hatch window is definitely a 60 Ford. I remember that feature on my dad's car, and he wouldn't drive with it open, knowing if it slammed shut and the glass broke, it would be virtually impossible to replace.

Car in front of the wagon gives me Sunbeam Talbot vibes (sold for a time in the USDM around 1953-55 or so).
  • tmarttmart Member Posts: 2,403
In addition to the two 60 Fords, there’s a 55 Ford, 56 Ford, two 57 Fords, and a 59 Ford.
