Ah, my favorite Dart, the 1961 Phoenix. Eye-catching and triggering comments.

Exner was either on hallucinogens or was from another planet.

Virgil Exner went from building the best looking cars of the late 50s to the worst looking of the early 60s. Poor guy was lost without fins.

Left front a bug eye Sprite. Far right I think a Red TR3.

To the right of the Bugeye is a blue '66 Mustanf coupe. Under the "coffee" banner across the street might be a ca. 1952 Lincoln, possibly the oldest car visible.

In front of the 1952 Lincoln is kind of a unicorn; a Dodge Lancer. They only turned them out in 1960-62 and I don't think they sold many of them then.

only off by 200! A 356. I can't tell the models (A,B, C) apart. or if windshield is short enough to be a speedster.

IT'S a 1965 Porsche 356C Cabriolet, you can tell it isn't a Speedster beause the windshield frame is partly body color

There were 3 open 356s - a cabrio like this one with a body color windshield frame, the roadster with a silver finish metal frame but with roll down side windows and a nice interior, and the speedster (only made through 1957/8 I think_) with had a lower silver metal frame windshield, but a more spartan interior, no side windows, etc - lightweight for performance.

At first I thought it had a CT plate but spacing between letters and numbers doesn't seem quite right.

I think those are Connecticut plates. I still have my old white on blue ones hanging on the basement wall. 2 letters dot 4 digits.

Maybe it is because of the '1' which would put it a bit further to the right.
AB, nice job of finding a plate from that time frame.

The Chrysler-Nissan diesel was a joint venture between the2 firms to sell Nissan diesel engines in Chrysler Marine's lineup. Around the mid-70s International Harvester decided that their Scout could use a diesel option and the Chrysler-Nissan ended up being their choice. Diesel Scouts were made right to the end of production with what was then a Nissan-only branded engine as the Chrysler deal had ended.

When I was a student in the late 90s, a guy in my apartment building had a diesel Scout. What I recall most is that it was a smoker, although who knows what maintenance issues it had by then. Some outdoor poseur hipster type would probably pay good money for that now.

I understand they were not only diesel noisy but slower than a turtle with three legs.

Yup, it's a Stutz Blackhawk, 1971-97, made by an independent venture and styled by our old pal, Virgil Exner. The psuedo 1930s styling sat atop the chassis and mechanicals of a contemporary Pontiac Grand Prix. Only the very early ones had the split screen windshield shown.

The fake 30's styling did not resemble the original Stutz Bearcat or Blackhawk. Coupe, convertible and four dooor versions were made and several of the 5-600 made went to celebrities including Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

Must have been some sort of Frankenstein. It had a Diesel badge but I’m thinking that came from a GM product looking closer.

The Diesel emblem is what Cadillac used. Dad’s 79 Eldorado Diesel had a badge on the trunk lid and one on each front fender and a smaller one on the right side of the dash near the ac vent.
