I see at least one 60 in addition to the Fords (a 60 Buick in the second lane from the right). Does anyone else see any more 60's? Anything newer?

Car in front of the wagon gives me Sunbeam Talbot vibes (sold for a time in the USDM around 1953-55 or so).

It's news to me that Sunbeam Talbots were ever sold here, I've never seen one (except for the Dinky Toy DHC I had). I believe the Magnette was imported into the USA (I've seen maybe a couple)

As I mentioned in a previous post the late 50’s wider and lower Chrysler cars and 59 and later GM cars really make the not so much older cars look ancient.

I remember this picture from way back - I thinkI was still at work then.

The car on the right was suggested as a Magnette then but it is a Sunbeam Talbot.

One clue is the boot /Trunk opens down on that Talbot like this one from 1953...



They did sell them in the US and I think we've had one or two before in these pages though they must have been quite rare

Sunbeam also developed the Alpine roadster (as in To Catch a Thief) specifically to sell in the US market

That oncoming Ford 100E model must have been fun on those freeways...

Not a lot of people did. It was marginally sexier than a Valiant or Falcon, and more practical than a Mustang (more useable back seat, which IIRC folded down to give more space to carry stuff). Bought by people who also had Swiss Army knives.

I think that was Fantam Works. They worked on a Barracuda of the same or very. similar color.

That rings a bell with me from one of those fake-drama car resto shows where they removed the rear glass while saying how rare and valuable it was, so they really couldn't break it. The moment they set it on a foldable rack in the shop I knew they were going to break it, and of course a little later someone accidentally(?) did, to much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth.

Of course later they miraculously found a replacement glass.

Amazes me something of that size can be so light, then again, the fintail, which feels like a vault, is also exactly that same weight. A little safety stuff and all of the luxury/convenience items are heavy I suppose.

Even if all the basic specs are similar, the gen 1 Legend sedan has one thing over the new Integra - visibility. Of course, I'd rather be in a crash in the new one...

Honda must be working on weight. I thought almost everything these days was 3500+. My wagon weighs ~4300 IIRC, maybe that ground-hugging weight helps with the serene ride.
