def a PW. until a couple of months ago when the owner sold the house, for decades there was one of those set up as a fire truck (a brush truck) parked outside the house in the driveway, rotting away (one side of the windshield was broken and tires were flat). No clue how they got it out of there.

1945 Dodge Powerwagon; I believe this was based on the military WC, which was later replaced by the venerable M37.

Yes!, Alfa-Romeo nomenclature is really confusing and this car illustrates it. It's the first version of the Alfa Giulietta Sprint introduced in 1954. The Sprint Veloce introduced in '56 featured more power via bigger carbs.

In 1962 the Giulia Sprint version debuted to replace the which featured new bodywork by Bertone which were produced throughout the 1960s

Any idea what this is? Like a Ferrari, but the rear fenders on back looks odd, and that's not a Ferrari logo.

  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,672
I'm pretty sure that is one of the many custom variants of the 1960s 3-liter Ferrari 250GT, it's wearing Borrani wire wheels as most of them did and that's a Pininfarina emblem behind the side grill. The windshield looks right off a standard 250GTSWB.

Back in the day it was possible to buy a Ferrari with custom bodywork from a number of coach-builders, all you needed was lots of money.

49/50 Ford and a 54 Ford to the right of the 60. Possibly another 60 Ford at far left.

I see a ‘61 GM full-size 4-door sedan roof and rear window to the left of the ‘60 Ford.

As tmart noted it looks like another ‘60 Ford rear window at the far left.

That ‘50 Ford on the right side of the pic sure looks spiffy! Someone loved that car.

Sorry. I was shouting in emphatic agreement that it was the only vehicle in the photo worth naming. Figures that I would have misspelled it in my excitement. :D

In Columbus, the 60 Ford nearest the camera is a Galaxie 2 door post (Club Victoria?), while the one at far left appears to be a Fairlane or Custom.

In Michael's town, Ford LTD II in the foreground. Wagon driving away maybe a Corolla?

I think it is a FIAT 850 sport spider.

Is 2 ahead of it a pacer wagon?

It's a Fiat Sport Spider but not the rear engine 850 but rather the 124 Sport Spider
    , a cut-rate Alfa-Romeo which like the Alfas had Pininfaina bodywork, 5 Speeds and a twin-cam four.
I owned a '71 which I loved but sold when I realized the tin worm would eat it all up. If you see one now it probably has never been parked outdoors.

Resolution on my iPad for that puncture is terrible. Taillights looked 124 but the side shape seemed curvier, more like the 850

It's not your iPad, the photo isn't very clear. I could make out the shapes of the bumpers and taillights as well as the windshield. That car wears an after market luggage rack on the trunk lid. The 124 Sport Spider had a sizeable trunk for a 2 seat roadster. I once drove from NY to Denver and back with luggage for two in trunk and on backseat.

No, the backup lights (about the only thing you can make out in that awfully fuzzy pic) are in the wrong place. Someone at Hemmings guessed it to be a downsized '78-up A-body GM wagon, but that's wrong. If I had to guess, I'd say a Ford Fairmont wagon.

Yeah, too long/boxy for a Pacer wagon. I was also thinking maybe K-car wagon, but Fairmont's a better guess.

The wagon 2 in front of the Fiat is definitely a Fairmont (doesn't appear to be a Mercury Zephyr Villager), distinctive rear window shape.

Looks like a shoebox Ford Tudor at the gas station in old time Malibu.

I'm not surprised that nobody could ID the little red roadster. The resemblance to early Porsche 356 models comes from the fact that the Denzel WD 1300 Sport was based on the same idea as the 356--building a sports car based on Volkswagen "Beetle" components.

The parallels with Porsche are many. Both began in Austria (Denzel in Vienna), both used Beetle components but built their own modifications for suspension, running gear and motors. Some Denzels used bodies built of fiberglass while others had steel or aluminum coachwork. Production began in 1948 and lasted until 1959. About 300 were built. While most Denzels used the modified VW flat four, a few had Porsche engines, others used the flat twin from the BMW 700 (Wolfgang Denzel was the BMW distributor for Austria and still owns a dealership).
