gen 1 Prius. A dud in the market because it looked like a normal car. once they made it look like an atomic cockroach sales took off because people wanted to make sure everyone knew you were driving a hybrid.

66 Galaxie pulling away from the curb at lower right (I wonder if that was a white zone or red zone). 69-70 big Ford wagon cutting across the lane kind of upper middle left.
  • Lostwrench3Lostwrench3 Member Posts: 825
    Lower left - 1960 Pontiac.
Upper right - United 727 and Delta 707.
On Final Approach - probably another 707.

I'm smart enough to not want a 10 year old Ford back in that era. :D

Of all things to survive 10 years there, a 60 Ford isn't what I expected. I think that's a 68 Chevelle beside it. And of course a yellowy beige/cream W111 fintail a few cars to the right.

Yup, that is a GM/US made Toyota-badged Cavalier which was offered for sale in Japan during the 90s to no great effect.

    @andys120

That article about the Toyota Cavalier was interesting.

There were also some odd offshoots from the Rover / Honda set up in the nineties including this one - the Honda Crossroad...

Basically a 1993 Land Rover Discovery and built here it was (briefly) marketed in Japan and as it had a 3.9litre Rover V8 engine it was also - I think - the only production Honda V8...

However the dealers in Japan didn't like the build quality and there were recalls and general problems as it was of course during the latter days of British Leyland...

They even sold it as a Honda into New Zealand (which is where this one was registered) and I guess also Australia

I've even seen a picture of one of these with British plates but that might just be a development model (not that BL were famous for diligent development)

Scorpion = Abarth+Fiat, double bubble = Zagato, google that, come up with
"Fiat Abarth 750GT Zagato", or some combination thereof.

Tex, you're correct, it's an early 60s Fiat-Abarth 750 GT Zagato, known for obvious reasons as the "Double Bubble". One of the coolest cars I've ver seen.

Mitsubishi sure had an 'edge' back then, very high tech. Not so much now.
  • andys120andys120 Member Posts: 23,671
Yup it's a 1990 Mitsubishi Eagle Talon Tsi. Less muscular versions were sold with Plymouth and Mitsu badges.

Yes, that's it. There's one of these locally that comes out every summer, in a sort of Velveeta orange color.
