    And to keep it car-related:

The Beaufighter has always been a favorite of mine, it just looked fast. It served as a fighter, night interceptor, torpedo bomber and photo recon plan. IIRC a few went to the USAAF as reverse lend-lease.

When I was a kid I lived under the approaches to La Guardia airport and quickly learned to tell airliners apart. Constellations were the prettiest but those Stratocruisers were really big!

Since search is broken, I can't tell if this was posted before or not. But it's a good pic so I'm going to put it up here. Omaha, NE, 1969 or 1970.

We can't let the red 1960 Ford wagon go unmentioned, it's in front row between a '62 Chevy and a 1964 Buick Electra(?)

Red and white 60 Ford in the same color combo as my dad's car. 59 Galaxie sedan at lower right, maybe a goldbeige 68 Ford full sized sedan (possibly a lower line Custom by its lack of chrome) to the left of it. Kind of above the Lark maybe a 59 Edsel sedan. First gen Corvair sedan and two tone 58-60 Ford pickup at upper middle.

Newest vehicle I see is the '69 Plymouth Fury III 4-door HT in green (what else?). There is a gold-green metallic Ford 2-dr HT of some sort, maybe a Torino, going out of frame on the right that may be the same model year or even newer.

    62 Olds Cutlass

It's a 1962 Olds F85 Cutlass. For some reason those first generation GM compacts quickly shed their original model names and substituted sub-model names with the sole exception of the Corvair. The Tempest became the LeMans, the Special became the Skylark and the F85 became the Cutlass (best selling model in the 80s).

The car shown has the faux convertible roof line adopted by many GM models in the 1960s. It was often vinyl covered but sometimes executed in metal the same color as the rest of the car.

Mom’s 63 Dynamic 88 coupe had the convertible look roofline and Holiday script on the sail panel. I was thinking they did the same with the 62 Cutlass but remembered Olds called the 4 dr hardtops Holiday as well.

Gotta point out the '60 Rambler to the left of the Ford pickup.

Is that a lark wagon next to it? Classic land rover would be worth big bucks now.

Looks like a white E type convertible in the showroom.

The Land Rover looks like a Series 2. I don't see a Jag in the showroon but what appears to be a British Ford Cortina wagon.

I think I see the E-type as a reflection in the window at left, maybe from a car parked on the street out of frame.

I wonder if the Cortina was a USDM car or private import. There's another Cortina parked in the lot behind the fintail.

I never saw a Cortina Estate, the only ones I encountered were 2 door Lotus-Cortinas.

60 Ford Ranch Wagon with another 60 Ford Wagon peeking around the corner to the left. Behind the Ranch Wagon, a Volvo PV444/544.

Let's have some 1960 housing prices while we're at it.

Between the ‘57 Ford sedan and the Tbird (which I think is also a ‘57) is a ‘55 or ‘56 Plymouth.

That Cortina Estate has the second style of grille so it is from the 1964 face lift which was when they introduced the greatly improved ventilation system

If you look very carefully the "c" pillar has a grille at the top (as did the deans) whereas the original versions launched in 1962

This was also when the car changed from being a Consul Cortina to just a Cortina..

Here that was a very popular estate car and they sold loads. Hardly any now survive...

Talking of ventilation yesterday we had the hottest day's temperature in UK history

Not hot by, say Arizona standards but about a third of England topped 40 degrees (Centigrade).

I think in your Fahrenheit scale that's about 104.

No fun given limited installation of Air-conditioning in housing over here.

    (For limited read nil)

The Thunderbird is definitely NOT a 57. A 57 has the parking lights in the bumper, not in the body, plus it has fins. Also, the continental kit was standard on the 56, but could be deleted. It was an option on the 55 and 57. So, since no conti kit, I’ll stick with it being a 55.

I don' see a vent in the front fender of the 'Bird, so I think it's a 55, too.

    104 F is hot, anywhere...

We were in Dublin, last Monday (9 days ago), and it hit 84 F, and everyone thought that was hot for Dublin.
