    So I’m trying to buy my daughter a used 2022 GMC Terrain SLE with 13,000 miles. Is it customary for a dealer to charge a $1400 fee because it is a certified pre owned vehicle? I’ve never heard of that and was caught off guard when the salesman mentioned it…. This doesn’t sound right to me. If I’m in the wrong forum please reply with a link to the right forum. Thank you.

    Also, if they are charging the $1400 fee because it is a Certified Pre Owned, then that should be included in the price of the car… their advertisement says $24,500 but when we went to see it, they added $1000 dealer fee, $400 electronics filing fee, $300 tag and tile, and then $1400 fee for it being a CPO. Seems like they did a bait and switch…. I’ve just never heard of a CPO fee. If that’s bogus then I’m going to negotiate the price of the car down.

    It does seem like a bait and switch. If they'd told you that you could have the car for $1400 less, if you didn't want CPO, then it would be okay.

    As you've found out, advertised prices mean nothing. Look at the total cost, and make an offer for what you want to pay.

    Yea all the other fees, although excessive, I’ve heard of…. But the CPO fee is just straight up BS. Thank you, I’ll negotiate the total price down
