@corvette, unsure but a good theory. And, poor design. But I get the feeling that VW didn't put their heart and soul into this penalty mandate.
@28firefighter: I've not used DC chargers (although at one mall in my old 'hood, I did note DC chargers at .33/kWh. That was a couple of years ago and I didn't need to pay that since it was 2x my home electric rate), with the PHEV, Level 1 & 2 are adequate for my needs. But my local free L2 chargers are now .25/kwh (as my town has taken them over), so quite a premium for the (alleged) faster DC shock. Also, this is Massachusetts, better living through taxes and a higher cost of living. Which, for most of my New England life is worth it!

@oldfarmer50 - I think they also make retractable shelves that ratchet up above the garage door for garages with high ceilings.

@laurasdada - that's unfortunate, I think we have a lot of free L2 charging available locally, and a lot of hotels offer it as free "destination charging" for guests, which was definitely on my radar when I was thinking of renting a Model 3 for the Detroit trip.

told the wife about your 2 series. She seemed, interested.

after when we were walking the dog a couple drove past in a new red 911 convertible with the top down, and I pointed it out and said wouldn't it be nice to have one of those instead of the RDX? and she responded with "maybe". I take that as the go-ahead to start shopping!

We pay about $.24/kWh near Albany NY because the state is shutting down all non green generating. If our the blame throwing politicians are correct you pay less because of the coal generation in Ohio that causes acid rain in the Adirondacks.

I suspect the truth is somewhat different.

As for 2-er verts, my local dealership (where I bought the 840i) just had a Long Beach Blue M240i convertible. It was either a 2020 or 2021 with low miles, but they wanted $53k. Given it’s not listed anymore, I guess someone bit on that price.

That is outstanding. We're currently ~.27/kWh, with the town aggregator supplier.

Ohio has lots of choices for electricity and natural gas.
I have multi year contracts for both. Overpaying for NG right now but not using much.

No clue what I pay per unit but in the year since we moved our combined gas and electric bill has usually been about $120/month. Lowest about $100 and highest in summer with AC running was $150.

Supply is by town contracted aggregator, Dynegy.
Delivery is Eversource, which is ~60% of the bill.
Delivery is made up of 7 different charges, so have to do some fancy calculatin' to come up with the per kWh.
    Bottom line, not cheap.

Looks like the tires are called SureDrive, their home brand. Read is very close to the one Eagle GT so I'm o k with that. Did ask if the different treads would be an issue, and was told not to worry. Vehicle drives straight & true right now so, not unhappy at all. Didn't want to replace the lone Eagle GT as the tread is almost perfect though I already knew that one of the fronts were about ready for replacement. Could I have just done the one? Think I could've but it was a snap decision on my part. Figured the vehicle is already up in the air so just might as well have them all done & be done with it. Spend the money now, or spend it a few months down the road...it's still going to bee spent. Now I know my tires are all in great shape since the VW isn't going anywhere for awhile.
Again, having the different treads isn't something I'm even thinking about! Guess I really am getting older!

Got to drive a newer Hyundai Santa Fe at work yesterday and was really surprised at how nice it was. Great interior and handled the road so smoothly...can see why they sell so many! Just am hoping the new Kona coming out in a month or two will be almost as good as the Santa Fe. From the few pics I've seen, think it'll be that good. And it'll have to be for me to finally pull the trigger on one. But have high hopes that it will exceed my expectations and I'll be an extremely happy buyer when that day finally does come!
Hyundai and Kia are doing some great things right now with their new designs and reminds me of the way Honda & Toyota used to be in the day. Time will tell though and am just happy that I'm not driving much anymore. My time frame is extremely flexible which I prefer especially since I just put some new sneakers on the Golf, something I wasn't totally expecting right now.
