    Also i read the AMEX benefit just gives the difference between the dealer cash, right? So if dealer cash is $6000 and AMEX benefit is $6500, then really amex is just $6500-$6000. Do you know if that is correct?

    The other benefit of AMEX is you know they are giving you that amount, at least. The dealer cash you have to negotiate into your price.

    Hi everyone, I went to the dealership this weekend and they printed out a quote. But I don't fully comprehend all the discounts I'm getting. There is some kind of "fleet" discount that they provided and I don't remember what it was. I don't have AMEX but the sales guy said he can apply fleet anyway. Anyhow, here's what they quote me:

    2004 Mercedes EQE 350+
    MSRP $88,110
    Residual 54%
    Cash sale price $69,449.00
    Loyalty -$3000
    TTL CCReduct -$7,500
    Dealer cash -$6000
    Fleet - ??
    Adj cap cost $61,949.00


    After all discounts accounted for, there is $9,661 and part of that may be dealer contribution and part of that is the "fleet". However, from talking with another dealer, he said the fleet was only $500 and is part of AMEX, and you must have an AMEX card (with a login) at the time of lease.

    From what I gathered with all the fine prints out there, this is what I found:

    Mercedes-Benz Electric Incentive Bonus $6000 for the EQE
    Lease Bonus Cash $7,500
    Advertised 36 months lease payment reflects $7,500 Lease Bonus Cash applied as a capitalized cost reduction, and is based on MSRP of $76,050 less the suggested dealer contribution of $7,499 resulting in a total gross capitalized cost of $68,551

    So, $6,000 (Electric Bonus) + $7,500 (Bonus cash) + $7,499 (dealer contribution) + $3,000 (loyalty) + $500 (AMEX/Loyalty). But somehow, I'm still short $1,662, so the dealer must be contributing more?!?

    That's how I would interpret it.

    The "dealer contribution" is a moving target; some dealers will discount less than the ad amount, some will discount more.
