the worlds supply of Aspen wagons. In HS my friend's folks had one. We called is the ashcan. Had a habit of stalling when you made a left turn. Not really something you want to experience.

Had a 77 Aspen wagon with the slant six with a 3speed with overdrive on the floor. Got many comments on the factory floor shift. Was a very good car, my first with AC. Put over 100k miles on her. Since the color was yellow, my kids called her the Banana.

I remember seeing one of those, when new. I was impressed with the stick on that vehicle.

Not all Aspens and Volares were bad cars. I knew several who owned them, had few issues, and liked the cars.

I think the bulk of the running issues were related to the lean burn system. I would bet if you didn't have to worry about emissions inspections it would make a world of difference to strip that stuff off and put the engine back to about 1968 spec.

Actually, Hoovie recently got a 1982 Imperial that ran like garbage. The fix was to yank off the jenky electronic carb and some associated bits, and replace it with a carb (and maybe distributor) off a late 60's Dart. Ran great after that!

That was what you did on 1971 to 1980 BMWs- you'd remove the thermal reactors, all of the vacuum lines, dashpots and solenoids- and often replace the distributor with a Bosch hi-po unit. The carbs weren't so bad but they were a bit complex so they were usually replaced with a Weber 32/36 DGAV or DGEV. It was amazing how much better the cars would run.

That Imperial really stands out and looks dated compared to the others. A neat car in its own way.

Yes, it does look a little dated, especially when you consider that the Dodge was only two years newer, and from the same company. I also agree that it was a neat car, though.

Early '70s Corolla on the left behind a Mustang II. That gen of Corolla was biodegradable in most places but perhaps not so much in Vancouver and on the west coast.

In London the 59 Ford appears to not be a Galaxie, in front of that a Rover P4, Morris Minor, looks like Austin A50 parked behind the British Ford (Zephyr I think) in the foreground. Hillman Minx between the Caddy and 57 Chevy. Cool pic.
  • fintailfintail Member Posts: 58,356
At The Broadway, the fintail does appear to be the color of my car. Hard to tell specifics but maybe the shorter nose of a W110. Maybe a red VW Squareback beside it. Just to the left of the 67 Mustang looks like a GM bubbletop.
