The Arteon has 245/40/19. I had to have one rim repaired as it was bent on the inside. Not sure I did that, thinking it was like that when I bought it. I complained from the start I felt vibration, not bad, but still, over 60 mph. Tires were balanced, rotated with some improvement. When I replaced the tires in June, Discount Tire informed me of the damage and suggested a shop that repaired the rim. Much better now. I’ve never had a rim damaged other than some minor curb rash, sigh. I understand this is a common issue with low profile tires. The shop told me they fix hundreds each month.

I've never had to repair an OZ Racing wheel, so it pays to buy good quality wheels as I too, have noticed many in the aftermarket crowd are constantly repairing or replacing wheels. I also tend to drive with great situational awareness so I'm probably not mindlessly driving into potholes like some might.

C&D had a few rim repairs on their stock rim BMW 5er a few years back, IIRC.

These Lucid airs are getting out there

Fathom Blue with glass roof and 19" wheels. Not that I've been shopping an Air for the last few months... But not ready to go all electric yet.
Lucid has offered to extend the $7500 expiring tax credit on the Gravity (but not the Air as far as I know) past the 9/30 expiration.

Love the color. Pretty striking in person

Unusual config these days at least around here. Work cab (not sure what its called), short bed and I think 2 wheel drive. I assume its been dropped and maybe more mods to come.

There are a few dealers that use the single cab short bed configuration to build "sleeper editions" which include a supercharged 5.0 making 700 HP. Full factory warranty too.

Looks great, but I don't think I could live with a regular cab

I was able to configure it with the regular 5.0, no supercharger, for about $43k. Must be some 'secret menu' for the dealers:

Single cab used to be the standard but such a rare site these days. Really limits the usability.

I think the first to try to expand the standard pickup cab was Dodge with the Club Cab in the early ‘70s. That area was mostly for storage but you could get a pair of side facing jump seats optionally.

Some friends and I had this discussion yesterday. One of them has a 2012 or so Chevy pickup, standard cab, 8’ box. He likes the long box for hauling building materials.

As near as I can tell, GM now only makes 4-door pickups. I stand to be corrected though since the Canadian website is rather vague.

I’ve seen a couple of long bed single cabs at the local GMC dealer.

I find it hard to believe how expensive the most basic truck is.

my 1990 Nissan PU was the cab+ (king cab) model. 2 doors, with the extra cargo space (handy) and side mount jump seats (useless).

My 92 Ranger XLT Supercab was similar. The jump seats were meant for small people and short trips only. That has been the only truck I've owned. I don't think I had it more than a year. Not my type of ride.

I loved mine. only reason we got rid of it after about a year was we had our first kid, and you could not put a car seat back there.

I actually really liked my 99 S10. Great little truck. It was well worn and great for hauling. I also used it to go to football games etc to avoid anything happening to the newer cars.

Looking back I kept it for at least 6-7 years before giving it to my SIL … I’d wager I’d still have it if I didn’t give it away.

It holds the record for the longest I’ve kept any car.

Only one truck in my ownership history - and, it wasn't even really mine.

First wife bought an '85 Isuzu P'up before we started dating (we worked together for a year before we got together). Single cab, white with blue cloth interior, 5 speed manual, no AC, dog dish hubcaps, and ... I can't even remember if it had a cassette deck in it; could have been AM/FM only.

I ended up driving it for the most part - I spent one summer commuting to LA in it (about 50-60 miles one way). Drove down on Monday morning, back home on Friday afternoon. My clutch leg got quite the workout.

I think about having a truck, now and then, but realize the Outback can probably do 75% of what the truck can do, in our use case.

today I took another load of branches, and the remnants of a very rusty drum (maybe a 55 gal? possibly a bit smaller). In the bed of the truck no problem. In the Acura, no way. I doubt I will give up entirely having a truck again (at least not as long as I live in this house with all the land!). And if I did, I would replace it with a utility trailer I could tow behind whatever SUV we have instead.

for me these days, it is not so much about the carrying capacity, it is about keeping the dirty nasty stuff out of the interior.

My 92 Ranger XLT was a nice truck. It had a V6, 5sp, air, cruise, etc. It was comfortable, got decent mpg, rode well. It was very handy to have. As it was my daily driver, I wanted something sportier and traded it for a 93 Mercury Tracer LTS (Mazda 1.8 DOHC engine), 5 speed, then a 95 VW Jetta GLX VR-6. I wouldn’t mind having a basic truck as a back up or to do chores. If we move to a place more rural and with some land, it may happen.

If we had bought a new build in a smaller lot with no woods I would have much less of a need for one

We drag branches in to the woods; they blend right in.
