They are really very functional. A Swiss Army knife vehicle that can do all kinds of things well and is prettt reasonable as far as cars go now.

For what it’s worth, my Mustang isn’t the easiest to get in and out but the seats are pretty comfortable for driving.

So I started looking at some sample E350 builds. They are also very thin and it appears that most dealers order them pretty basic. The ones I saw were all right around 69K. One key missing feature is adaptive cruise... That is a pretty big omission for a pricey vehicle.
Here is an example, I could do without the $1500 maple with aluminum trim.

I like the E a lot too In all honesty a C would probably be fine. I'd wager a C is pretty close in interior room to our EQE. I have until October so nothing is happening yet,. Ideally they start producing the electrics again and we can roll into another one since she really likes her car. I'm not sure if Mercedes extends, but that is another option as well. It will still be under warranty,

One thing my wife does not like is big seat bolsters. One thing that got a GTI axed from the list. She is not built for tight seats and does not like being wedged in. Since we are not getting on the race track much these days it’s not an issue.
For an EV, even though not driving much might skew the cost analysis, I think it is better for a car that rarely gets used. I think that lots of sitting between short drives is terrible for a gas engine. But perfect for an EV.

My wife is starting to get super busy now with clients coming out of the woodwork, all wanting theirs done NOW! Not sure how she does it but she always gets it all done with ours being her last one on the 15th. Luckily we always get a big refund which we never seem to see as it goes towards the next quarter but works for me. As long as we don't owe anything I'm cool. And soon, our income will be going down as I go down in hours. Did get a letter last week that S S screwed up my monthly payment so it went up about $20 or so dollars a month. Nothing to write home about but I'll take whatever they give me. They've had some issues calculating my correct benefit since I piggybacked on my wife's work history last year. I was civil service during my working years so had to make up my missing quarters by going into the rental car business back in 2013 where I still am. It really is a great retiree job and working about 28/week seems to be working out though I plan to go down to 20 hours later this year.

I like the new C Class. Even though the four cylinder in the C43 is relatively quick I’m a bit put off by the reviews that indicated the motor and transmission don’t play well together. In any event, the warranty on my current car runs until July 2027, so I’m not in any hurry.
I did watch Nick O’Leary’s overview of the facelift GLE and the GLE 53 looks intriguing. It’s a PHEV that boasts 577 hp. I’m not a big SUV fan, but I might grow to like this one.

Wife and I have been exchanging texts today discussing the facelift to the 2027 GLE models. The front headlights and grill are nicely updated to be in line with more current MB models, though I am fairly indifferent to it. The taillights now have a strip extending across the hatch, and I kinda prefer the separate lights. Interior-wise, I think it's basically the screen that spans the width of the dash, which is cool, but not necessary.
Basically, there's nothing in the facelift that would deter me from the new one, but certainly fine with our 2025 model.
Now the PHEV using a 6-cylinder now instead of our 4? That's something.

With a 300 mile radius, zero results.
Happened to check Trip 2 which was last reset when I took it out for a test drive before buying it.

The 4 has impressive NVH, but you know it is a 4 in merging or harder acceleration scenarios. I believe this is the same engine that debuted in the E for MY 2017, earlier ones could have some issues as the miles pile up, but I doubt anyone here would keep it that long.
I am at 7 years in my E450 wagon (at the dealer now for its annual service), and the car has been a delight with almost no issues of consequence. I think the 6 is worth the upcharge. For adaptive cruise being optional, seems to be a German thing of making everything optional (you can build an 80K E-class and still have Tex). There's a ~120K GLE53 on the floor here with no HUD (pretty build otherwise, blue on brown). I've seen jokes dating back decades that MB would make oil and coolant optional if they could. I think in the USDM this might be related to loss leader lease specials, and maybe lately, fleet sales (the GLE and 5er I have rented in the past year and change also lacked adaptive cruise - while the ~25K Elantra rental had it).

Who remembers all the grief C&D used to give Saab for only offering 4 cylinders in their cars, in the “luxury” class?
Turns out they were simply ahead of the curve.

Ok - you all can roast me after this one.
My truck has a power tailgate (I know …. ). One of the frustrating things to me was that to raise it up you had either use the key fob or reach under it to trigger the button (where the handle would be). I just thought it was a bad design.
Well… I was watching a video on the Ram and a saleswoman was walking the truck and showing the features and she pushed a button on the left side of the tail gate to make it go up.
Mind blown 🤯 Only took me 10 months ….

It a car. But a house. No not mine. I think I Mentioned that our son and DIL outbid the hoards and got a house they really like. Should close in May. Had their inspection today and came out really clean. Only found a couple of job working outlets, assumed to be GFI related. So overall not bad.
And I may be finding a use for my snowblower after all. It has a really long driveway!

I wonder if the Type S got a different more robust transmission? With FWD, an auto is perfectly OK and you don't need the extra Type S power on this car. If you do get the extra power, the 6-speed manual makes more sense to me.

Looked on the nearby VW site yesterday and saw that the 2026 models went up a good $2K for some reason. And the 2025 year was a short one to boot but still glad I pulled the trigger when I did. Just really need to give it a long overdue bath, inside & out. Was thinking of a ceramic coating but the prices of that process are bat sh-t crazy! Might just go with a regular waxing like twice a year as it's still being garaged. Once we do move, it'll be outside most of the time so might change my mind then.
