Just to confirm: both lights on the doors come on when the passenger door is opened, right? Then it sounds to me like your drivers door pin is stuck in the closed position. I know on most cars they are very easy to replace. The 97 may have used a very common style (hopefully) that you can pick up locally. If it is Honda specific then it's your call. Takes about 4 min. to replace if all goes well. And on most it is only one wire
If you are comfortable with things you could remove the switch and ground the wire on the body of your car (pick a spot near the opening where the switch was). This is only if it is a one wire style switch. The light should come on. If this occurs then the switch is the problem.
Thanks Alot..
I wonder if we have to pry the lamp cover.
The car wash kid almost went through the windshield!
Can anything be done or must I live with this for as long as I have the car?
We take extremely good care of the car, but the only other problem so far is that I noticed a small tear in the weather striping on the rear passenger side door. Not sure if they'll cover that under warranty, but I'll ask next time we're in.
Try moving your seat rearward an inch or two. You won't be as likely to stomp on the brake pedal from back there.
i swear i also hear something from the headliner from over the passenger front door.
does anyone see "dimples" in their headliners? they just don't seem too sturdy...
any new TSB's for rattles? oddly enough, my rear package shelf never rattles, so don't want them performing that "fix" per the TSB.
We bought a retrofit kit from Interdynamics and it seems so easy to do. Our only issue is differentiating between the LOW pressure valve and the HIGH pressure valve. One valve is located on a copper tube and seems to come out of/or go into the evaporator (easy to access). The other valve is a little less accessible and is on some rubber tubing and seems to come out of/or go into the compressor.
PLEASE HELP! We've been warned "never to charge on the high side" but we can't find any documentation or diagrams that clearly show us which is which.
I'll keep you posted as to what happens.
Nice...
The brakes would still be able to put a small animal through the windshield tho!
PROBLEM: At 400 miles, brake pads began to grind excessively and stopping distances increased.
SOLUTION: New brake pads
PROBLEM: At 3000 miles, brakes began to shimmy when pressed at freeway speeds.
SOLUTION: New brake pads; rotors machined
PROBLEM: At 7500 miles, brakes began to shimmy again when pressed at freeway speeds.
SOLUTION: New front/rear brake pads/rotors
PROBLEM: At 12000 miles, brakes began to shimmy again when pressed at freeway speeds.
SOLUTION: Traded Accord for 04 Toyota Highlander
While it's true that the Highlander may come with its own set of problems, the issues I had with the Accord seemed unsolvable, so I thought it best to try something else.
I also painted the front calipers red, will that cause an issue to why they might not replace or resurface the rotors under warranty? I know red paint can't possibly cause the rotors to warp, but with dealerships you just never know.
Please advise...
good luck!
Honda has allowed at least one "goodwill" replacement of the front and rear brakes and rotors to many owners (including me -- a former owner) who have experienced rotor warping at low mileage.
Though you are out of the warranty period, your rotors are exhibiting abnormally early warpage.

In addition, you may want to point out to the Honda Customer Relations rep that there are now more than 150 brake-related complaints on the NHTSA site, most of which are related to rotor warping and vibration.
Though I eventually decided that the brake problem on my car was unsolvable, I found that a polite but firm approach with Honda helped them "see the light" as far as authorizing free repairs.
Best of luck to you!
My next car to replace the 89 might be a Highlander too.
Ironically, some Highlander owners have complained on the boards about rotor issues as well, though the issues cited tend to appear at around 30,000 miles (as opposed to every 3,000 to 5,000 miles with my Accord).
Que sera, sera...
I am so sick and tired of having the rotors turned or replaced.
A new set of rotors would usually last 3+ years (1 year trouble + 1 year riding with the vibration + 6 months trouble free after resurfacing + 6 months or more with vibration).
Last July 03, put on new calipers, rotors and pads. The vibration is coming back now. Let's see if the car can last another year before I have the rotors resurface.
I get used to the vibration. So it doesn't bother me much. Other than (front) brakes, this car is a muscle machine. ;-)
So far the brakes on the other 03EXV6 behave very nice after almost 2 years. It has only 9K miles though. It's a weekend car. Really appreciate the power of V6 after driving a 4-cyclinder car for 15+ years.
Good luck to your new Highlander.
It sounds like your 03 Accord is treating you well so far. Aside from the brake issue, I thought it was a lovely car. If you don't have the brake issue, it's even better!
I still couldn't figure out what is this noise coming from the front passenger side. It happened when going over bumps or joints or manhole cover ... etc. It's a '04 4 door 4 cylinder.
I checked the air filter behind the glove box, but cannot reproduce the noise.
Does anyone have any idea what else I can try?
Much appreciated.

My problem began with the driver's side window starting to move more slowly than usual.
Then is started making a noise as though it was rubbing against rubber.
Now the window moves forward and back as though it is coming off the track.
Any ideas?
Have you checked to make sure that your window is all the way up? That there is nothing rolling around in the storage pockets at the bottom of the passenger door? That there is nothing rolling around on the floor beneath or next to the passenger seat?
You didn't mention what model-year vehicle you are driving. But, if it's still under warranty, a visit to a Honda dealer would be worthwhile.
Windows are all up, nothing in the storage pocket, and also checked that nothing is "movable" underneath the passenger seat. Oh... also checked sun visor.
The car is running great, except this noise is driving me crazy.
Any similar issues and the fixes are highly highly highly appreciated. I'll try them all out.
Thanks a lot.

You, Jebinc, and I all got our cars within days of each other - Jebinc had his replaced almost immediately, and you're having all those brake problems - I'm nervous!!
As an aside, when I was having the transmission recall work and state inspection done, I mentioned the problems that some are having with the brakes, and asked what they would do. Without blinking, the service manager said, "replace the brakes for you" and then made me promise that if I even *think* there is a problem with them, to contact him immediately.
I may have lucked out with my particular '03, but I sure did with my dealer!
Does anyone know what this is, or what to do about it? I'm selling the car within 6 months, and want it to be in good shape, but don't want to spend a huge amount fixing this.
Thanks.
When I took it in for the transmission recall last week, I also did the 15,000 miles servicing since I have 16000 miles on the car.
Service manager informed me that the only problem I have is that the back brakes are at 20%..and the front brakes at 80% are fine. I haven't changed my driving habits since my Toyota that I owned previously. 10,000 of those miles are freeway miles. The service manager at Honda couldn't help me.
Has anyone out there experienced such unusual brake wear. Is this a recall on the break system that needs to be addressed? I shouldn't have to replace back brakes every 15000 miles. Has Honda used cheap parts??I have Honda's service number hopefully they can help as well as this forum.
